My boss(CIO) is here from US next week. I need to host a dinner for him at a fancy place.
Price no bar - nearer to hitec preferred but not a constraint.

Any recommendations except novotel ?

check my review, it just a few pages back.

Sholay is also on my To Do list!

Well, I got "Sholayed" again last night for dinner with family.

Tomato Shorba, Mutton Shorba, N/V Platter, Veg Platter, Bhatinde De Kukad, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, Tandoori Roti and Gosht Biryani made up the dinner.

Of course, many rounds of onions-in-vinegar were also served free along with Kurkure (namkeen).

I refused the Team-BHP discount of 20% they wanted to apply on the bill and insisted that I am entitled to a "Bajaj" discount.

This is what I saw at Sholay :

I also saw and met the proud owners.

Hey Buddy, Congrats once again.

I want to ... tonight but I cannot.

Thanks Bajaj Saab, it was wonderful to bump into you there. Perhaps, we should now start thinking of investing in that hotel considering the affinity we developed for that place over the last few months...LOL

Btw, hope you liked the White Annihilator?:)

We ordered the following :-

Veg Platter
Tomato Soup
Chickent Tikka Masala
Veg Jalfrezi
Veg Kulchas
Tandoori Rotis
Thumbs-Up
Veg Pulao

The food here is so excellent, each time i feel totally satiated, warm and content after finishing a meal. This feeling elevates especially after seeing the reasonable bill.:D

Chicken Tikka Masala was rich, creamy and chicken well cooked. It had a sophisticated taste ( 5 star type) to it and wifey didnt quite like it and said their signature dish " Bathinde De Kukkad" is the best. For her, no other place can serve a better chicken tikka masala than Papaji Ka Dhaba.

Star of the evening (Veg Pulao). It was absolutely delectable. Long grained rice, with brown fried onions and loads and loads of fresh veggies including gobi which happens to be my favorite and which you dont usually see in veg pulao's a lot.

A special mention to the Matrie'd ( dark gentleman) who makes it a point to meet me and see me off till the main door and gives me an update who came from TBHP in recent past etc. Awesome attention and service:thumbs up

20%? I got only 10% when I went there last week!

The food was good, like the previous time I went there. This time I ordered the Bhatinde da kukkad which I thought was just ok - maybe the chef was having an off-day. One of the veg starters (don't remember the name - it was a mixture of three or four grilled vegetables) was excellent, especially the arbi.

Can anyone suggest a restaurant that serves good Indian and Chinese, has a bar and hassle-free parking (where I don't have to use a valet). For dinner tonight, so would appreciate responses by 7 pm.

We normally get 20% discount, you have to speak to the maitre d before you order.

Request the regular patrons of Sholay to comment.

Yes. 20% has been clearly defined for TBHPians. Please speak to that dark complexioned Maitre'd. He will take care of it.

Ohris group of restuarants and Sinnova Chinese Resturatant next to Ohris at Rd. No.12 can be given a chance.

Parking can be done by self on opposite side of the road and both restuarants are pretty good and you can choose between Indian and Chinese.

+1 on that. You may also speak to Mr. Vivek (the manager) or his deputy, Mr.Ranjan for the discount

I had been to Sholay last evening with wifey and ordered the following.

1, Bhatinda De Kukkad (a bit spicy this time, stuffed with green chillies, but great taste nevertheless)
2, Veg Pulav ( Amazing, thanks Avinash)
3, Rumali roti
4, Plain Naan.

Total Damages: Rs 330 after discount @ 20%.

A great experience one again.

Saturday evening ordered a lot of food as parcel from "Pakwaan" and almost everything was very good except for a major dissapointment.

Hamid Bhai told me he cannot give a discount but, will make sure the quantity is good. However, we noticed that the biryani's came with " almost no meat" which was shocking to most of us.

Waseem, it would be great if you can mention this to him whenever you talk to him next:Frustrati

I will certainly make it a point to inform him.

Update:

Spoke to him, he was very apologetic. Assured me that this will never happen again.

Thanks. Will try one of these next time.

We ended up going to Katriya Hotel off Raj Bhavan Road last night. They have some schemes going on till 15 August for their 7th anniversary. We went for the buffet at Orchid - buy one, get one free. Good food and the simple stuff - the dal, the aloo fry and the chutneys - were especially good.

Will do that. Might go there this weekend.

Any comments on the buffet at Quality Inn Pearl near Gachibowli?

They have a week day buffet priced at Rs 399. Will appreciate any feedback on this place.

Also any other places around Hi Tech city with a good spread of Veg and Non-Veg buffet. Budget around Rs 400 (before tax)

No idea but the food in general was good when I went there some months ago. Not much variety but I think they had just started up and maybe that was the reason.

You could try Ginger Court, a little after the Madhapur police station signal (when going from the Jubilee Hills side). Don't remember the price but am sure it was within Rs.400.

Happened to try this new joint called 'khyaati' @ the road opposite motorola office at hi tech city.( the approach road to gur nihal dhaba and sazio).

this place has this concept of 'solo portion' which i really liked.

things ordered:-

a) methi chicken
b) chicken tikka masala
c) mutton rogan josh
d) assorted roti basket
e) zeera rice

the food is pretty good and if you guys want to do a quick lunch i suggest you go here.

total bill was inr 340 for 3 people:thumbs up

they also take sodexo coupons..

Ginger court is no longer the star of Hitec city. Its quality has come down by several notches.

I think Khayati sounds like a good place for a meet for Lunch for Hitec city folks. What say guys?:)
