re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

My little contribution apart from outlets already discussed...

1. Spice 6 (besides Maheshwari complex, Masab Tank X Rd.) Best Mirchi ka Salan with the Biryani.
2. Bahar (Hyderguda) . Talking about consistency.. never could differentiate!
3. Pista House- aww c'mon, Don't tell me you did not get this on the list, did I miss that name? Last time I had biryani from there, I asked for light masala, and he gave me a completely new name of their new variety (some kashmiri, yakhni thing!), I just simply told him- advance baatan nakko karo, Biryani kha ke boltun! (Don't talk advance talks, I'll taste the biryani and tell you!) and it was actually very good and light! You guys really must try his chicken kathi rolls too! Melts in mouth!

It is not beside but IN Maheshwari complex.

And absolutely agree on the Mirchi ka salan.

The restaurant is however undergoing a face lift, when I went there sometime in the last fortnight. The takeaway was open but dine in closed.
Best time for biryani is after 1:30 PM.

Is it? I thought maheshwari was the one which houses that crockery house.

Anyways, there's a new 24-hour spice 6 coffee shop / restaurant in the hotel woodbridge complex beside madhur bakery and opp. mehdi function hall.

Hotel woodbridge main door is now flanked by Bakers Inn on the left and spice 6 on the right.

Deepak Bhai.

This place does not offer anything great. The food is sometimes served cold.

Buffet is priced at Rs 332 (AI) for lunch and Rs 525 (AI) for dinner (with barbecue).

À la carte is exorbitantly priced.

100% sure. I used to live in Maheswari Complex.
The best place as a foodie. Flanked by good restaurants on all sides.

I think this restaurant is mentioned in this thread. Search it up.
I have had only one good experience here. That was when Sanjeev Kapoor was at the restaurant. The other 2 or 3 times were mediocre.

As already stated please don't go there and waste your money. As a amatter of fact, had gone to the one in Delhi and over there as well, food was bad. I found it absolutely pretentious and devoid of taste!

I'm sure there are definitely better places that deserve your money

We've been planning to go to Rajdhani for quite a few weeks now.

Thanks for the tip-off! I think I need to visit the place before the weekend .

Another bit of good news is that my employer has offered me an INR 2000 (F only, no B) dining voucher for having completed one year with them day before yesterday. Now I know how Avi must feel like .

I'm wondering where to splurge it. I can go to known places we know and like but I want to try something new.

Regards,
spadix

Stay away from Yellow Chilli. They practically throw that in your eyes before they serve the bill. Besides, their food is nothing to write home about.

Oh! I have a huge list. Let me list down a few that comes to mind on instant recall

1. Golden Deer,Ranigunj
2. Nimantran, Next to airport. Best Kheema Biryani !!!
3. Gokul ( Best mutton biryani but, they seem to have lost interest in their bar)
4. A place right next to Venkatramana theatre, forgetting the name
5. Deccan Spice ( Kachiguda)
6. A lovely bar and restuarant at Diamond Point, forgetting the name
7. Little Hearts, Bowenpally, famous for its biryani
8. A little bar and restuarant right opposite to Kumar Theatre. Couple of times had the biryani there, excellent
9. Crystal, RTC X roads
10. Megacity, Basheerbagh
11. Sudharshan, Himayathnagar, Its closed now but, excellent food and biryani
12. If you like dry and different style biryani then Madhushala and Blue Heavens

Will post more as I recall. These are mostly small joints but, serve good biryani and sometimes better than their famous counterparts in taste and quality.

By the way, how much is it now? I'm just wondering if it's worth making the effort to go there on a weekday evening (today/tomorrow) only to save, say, 50 bucks or something. I'll prefer a more relaxed Sunday afternoon drive if that's the case .

spadix

Its presently at inr220 and its being increased to inr250 i guess.

Just make sure you present the parking ticket as it is reimbursed by the restaurant.

Thanks for the info, ranjitp1!

Hmm, not much of a savings then to warrant getting stuck in evening-time traffic.

As for parking, well, I took my car to that Godforsaken parking only once and I'll never take it there again. I'll park somewhere else and walk it down. That huge hump at the end of that steep climb means irrespective of how slow you go or how much of an angle you approach it at, a belly scrape is guaranteed on my car .

spadix

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

I had been to Tung Kein Chinese Restaurant @ Raj Bhavan Road on Tuesday evening for Dinner and ordered

1,Schezwan Egg Noodles &
2,Chilli Chicken.

Total Damages (actualy)-Rs 205.

Truly a dining disaster.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had been to Pakvaan for dinner last evening and ordered

1, Tandoori Chicken -1/2
2 Egg Biriyani-

For the first time, i did not like the TC served at Pakvaan. Not even 50% of what it used to be few months back. However, Egg biriyani was good.

Total Damages-Rs 170 with tips.

@Nikhil Bhai-Are we on for tomorrow's Lunch.?
