We had a char-coal based barbeque meet at Absynthguzzler's home so many times.

Can someone dig out the photo of that grill from the meet thread and paste it here?

The Lunch Buffet (Rs 225) at Sweet Nirvana, Madhapur is very sad.

AVOID

When making a barbecue drop in a couple of potatoes into the fire.
Wash the potatoes. Do not skin the potatoes. Wrap them individually in aluminium foil.

When cooked, drop a spoon of table butter on top.

I visited Bade Miyan Kababs at Babu Khan Mall in Somajiguda (Tel.: 6579 7240) on sunday evening and ordered:
Pathar Gosht = 90/-
Boti Kabab = 80/-
Chicken Malai Kabab = 70/-
Accompaniments = Onions, Lemon Wedge and the deadly Green Chutney.

The prices are all inclusive.

They were happy to inform that they have started serving "Haleem" one day a week, ie, on every sunday but I did not try it yesterday.

After placing the order, I requested them to home deliver the same and went back home to await the parcel which arrived in 20 minutes.

MileCruncher will be happy since they are located just across the road from him, he can also use their home delivery service.

We ordered :-

Tomato Soups ( 2 No's) : Rs. 140
Tandoori Platter : Rs. 160
Stuffed Capsicum : Rs. 100
Assorted Rotis : 140
Veg Biryani : 130
Strawberry Flavoured Lassi ( 3 No's) : FREE

Rs.740 (Inclusive of tips)

I really like this restuarant for vegetarian food. Nice ambience, very tasty food and pocket friendly prices ( now even more so with the discount card)
Very Good food.
This place was formally called as Tirupathi Bhimas.

Got reminded of this place and had my Lunch there on Saturday.

They have two thalis. A Bhojanam and a Raja Bhojanam.
This is the bhojanam.

The dahi kadi deserves a special mention.

A bag of coal will be 300 to 350/-. It should last for a life time....lol (unless you do BBQ every weekend!!
Thank you all who replied to my query..

Where do you get good coal which has high calorific value and easy to get fire..

Any specific place or directions to buy in Afjalgunj or Sultanbazar.. I really don't know places in old city area..

Any govt. approved places for BBQ in and around Hyderabad.. or just bribe the watchman of any park do it :-( ( I personally don't like this though)

Thanks.

You can buy coal at Chintal Basti.

From Rd #1 Banjara hills as soon as you cross the Rd 12 Junction and before the next signal (Pension office). There is a left turn.
Enter it and you will find a bunch of electrical and hardware stores on the left. There is a coal shop just a litle distance away on the left.

Do take your own plastic bag. The guy sometimes runs out of them.

No idea about its calorific value.
But I have had no issues using it.

I don't think you can do this in any park.

Had a blissful weekend at Hellikhed ( 165kms from Hyderabad) in Bidar District where i spent saturday and sunday. Including visiting a sugar factory and going through the entire process of how its made from raw sugarcane. Had freshly squeezed cane juice there.

Rushed back to city last evening around 9pm as wanted to celebrate Valentine in city. To my horror, all places were full yesterday so after running around to different restuarants finally spent the evening listening to some mesmerizing ghazals in Mehfil in Hotel Basera.

Had a couple of beverages and one mocktail. Rs. 180 for beverage and Rs.180 for mocktails

Galouti Kebabs ( Rs.225). Delicious
Talwar Chicken Kebab ( Rs. 225). Delicious
Dhuadar Chicken ( Rs. 225). Horrible, AVOID
Butter Naans and Rotis. Below Average

Total Damages : Rs.1400 ( Luckily, Service Charge is not yet introduced in this restuarant)

Last evening again been to Night Flight in Himayathnagar.

Charles Fish
Chicken Barrah Kebab
Andhra Chicken with Rotis.

Food is terrific and some of you guys should certainly give it a try. Their Andhra chicken is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes and spicy eaters will absolutely adore this dish.

Just make sure while ordering Barrah kebab that they need to make it with red chill power and not crushed peppers which was the case yesterday which made some difference in taste ( for the worse) but was still quite good.

The benefits of using Kabuchi BBQ over the traditional coal fired BBQs is that there is no smoke and that the heat can be controlled by way of a knob.

I feel the same bro!

Would like to know if anyone tried Chillies near L.B. Nagar. If not, try it once and I bet you would love it.

LB Nagar is not the end of most Hyd tbhpians. Is it from the same group that has in Paradise and M.G Road?

IIRC, Paradise and MG Road is written as " Chillys"

Its also a pretty decent veg restuarant.

I've seen it too the one in Paradise Road. But I'm really not sure if it belongs to the same group.

Well, L.B.Nagar is not the place I live at, but once while on my ride to another city, I've checked that place and I really liked the ambiance and the food too!

No Offences, but I hate food at DSNR/Kothapet/L.B. Nagar strech. Nothing to tantilize those taste buds. Being from the more masaledar side of Hyderabad, I find the food on that strech more bland.

+1 to that.

For us typical hydeez, that side and for that matter even this side begining from S.R Nagar to Kukatpally also is not too tantalizing for our demanding taste buds
