everything was between 250-300 per dish.

spadix is refering to ista ,where we had the t-bhp dinner meet was at ellah suites.

also i did notice some upcoming food joints in madhapur ...

a) ohri's signature -bang opp cyber towers
b) arabian delight- next to the airtel showroom

My bad. Yes, it was at Ella Suites.

These days restuarants are opening by the dozen in Hyderabad. We should also get some data of the number of restuarants which are closing down, which i am sure is a possibility too since hotel business is either lucrative or can spell your doom too.

Is it Big Byte in Srinagar Colony? If yes, how did you forget the name despite being one of their most regular customers? If no, name please as I would like to try.

I don't care two hoots about McD burgers either. They're overpriced and until very recently, used to be severely under-heated as well. I don't know if it's just me or whether the mayonnaise they use really smells like Fevicol.

I liked Universal's burgers a lot more always, but they're also not what they originally used to be.

Despite being born and brought up in Sec/Hyd though I've never had a KnC burger :(.

Ella is hopeless. And tasteless.

I would like to hear about the main reason perhaps in some future meet .

I had the buffet at the same place yesterday.

Its got nice ambience and friendly staff.
We also got the 10% corporate discount given to my office.
My team was 25 in all, the total bill after 10% discount and tax was 6698.

The food was ok. Can be repeated but not the kind that will pull you automatically.

Planning to go to Grills N Steaks in Kondapur for dinner. Not sure that I may go there as my family aint such a big fan of steaks.

Hence, need some inputs for some good north indian joints too.

Something in lines of Blue Fox, Food N I and Angeethi etc.

Cannot say the food was awesome but certainly enjoyable, tasty, filling and pretty satisfying. The quantity of meat that Harish adds to each dish is amazing as are the dish sizes.

Ranjit, since I do not recognize you, I could not identify you, that is if we were there at the same time. I reached at 8:30/8:40pm and left at 9:20/9:30pm. I was the one with old parents (they were the only white haired people in there at that time).
I dont think we were there at the same time, bcos there was nobody in the restaurant when I was there.Ofcourse we did a take away.So I guess we missed each other by a few minutes, because we were there around 930.Easy to spot me (or atleast the car-the only White Figo in Hyd with a Live to Drive sticker-havent seen any others with the same combo till date).

True about the amount of meat, the burger had lots of meat in it,but somehow just did not taste right, maybe just one of his bad days!

Agree on the Mcdie burgers, but found the new one to be considerably better than their usual fare.

NH-7 Drive In Restaurant

For all those NH7 "frequenters",theres a new drive in place that has opened at Shadnagar-Jadcherla,called Hill View.It looks pretty hep and nice.

The other day I was passing by enroute to Kerala, and noticed the place was open. You cant miss it as it has a yellow car perched on top of a pole.Quite innovative I must admit, the place also looked quite modern and clean from outside. The only downside is that its quite close to Hyd,so I dont think anybody would really have an appetite to stop so soon.

Been there last week for dinner. Right from the time we entered, everything went wrong including the temparature of water served which was "Hot"

Veg Salad ( Rs. 150) : Nothing like a proper salad you get elsewhere. Veggies were boiled. We were shocked.

Veg Sizzler with Layered Veggies ( Rs.295) : Same boiled veggies with potatoes and little bit of rice. Horrible

Chicken BBQ ( Rs. 225) : Chicken was good but, it was so small it will not even suffice a 5 year old.

Sizzlers were served in small heart shaped wooden platter and quantity is so less, it's ridiculous. We were not even half full so ordered a rice

Veg Pulao (Rs.125) : One of the worst veg pulaos ever had.

2 Mocktails : Rs.220. Average

Coke : Rs. 30

Damages : 1100 something. Waste of good money on this terrible place where the waiters dont even know what dish to recommend and horrible service despite only 2 tables occupied during our meal there.

Will not go there again and recommend others to save their moolah for a better place.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Got a take-way of :-

1/2 Tandoori from Pakwaan : One of the best tandoori in town. Period. Superbly marinated and cooked to perfection. Perfect meal for someone who wants to have a protein diet and is planning on reducing weight.

Mutton Tikka Roll from Baba Chulha : The best roll in town. Period.

However, their Reshmi Chicken Tikka roll sucked when we had it last week.

BTW-I had ordered Pathar ka Ghost and chicken tikka kebabs from Bade Miyan,Somajiguda.

Both had horrible taste and some strange type of smell.

Got a pamphlet with the daily morning news paper as above.
Called up the lady on the mobile who informed she is starting the business from next week initially with only lunch.
Delivery area is upto 2km from Punjagutta (Hyderabad Central).
Veg Meal is 1 Dal, 2 Curries, 1 Veg, Phulka & Rice and priced at 50.
In Non Veg, 1 curry is replaced with Egg/Fish/Chicken.
Did not pursure further as it is better to try the food once they open and then review.
Finally got around ordering Ghar Ka Khana so ordered one veg and one non veg.

Veg Meal had a dal, gobhi, bottle gourd, 2 phulkas, chawal, papad & curd while gobhi was replaced by chicken in non veg.

Placed the order at 11:15am and got delivery at 12:45pm. Veg was 50 and non veg was 70.

Quite homely but nothing fancy or great or so tasty that one feels like ordering again and again. May order again when one does not feel like cooking at home and also ordering from a restaurant.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Yesterday had a dinner party for part of my team (45 members) at Food N' I.

Firoz made a nice arrangement for all of us by giving us a separate space for us to lounge, walk around and huddle in small groups.

Welcome soft drink was served.

Following snacks were served on our table :-

Tandoori Chicken
Reshmi Chicken
Dahi Ke Kebabs ( Specially ordered by me)
Paneer Tikka
Veg Kebabs

Main course was the usual suspect with Butter Chicken and Mutton Roganjosh with Veg Biryani. There was no NV biryani.

Snacks served were excellent but, the main course was lack lustre.

Desserts were good, strawberry ice cream, phirni, Gulab Jamun and one other item.

Overall, it was a good event and we paid Rs.320/Head ( 20 bucks extra for Dahi Ke Kebabs which is a signature dish of FNI)

The other good veg option at Raj Bhavan road is Balaji, opp shell bunk.

He serves Rajasthani thali @ Rs 65 (parcel) and it consists of

1, One Sabzi
2, Kadi (sans pakoda )
3, Daal
4, Curd
6, Phulkas (6 No's)
7 Rice (Decent quantity)
8, Papad
9 Tomato Chutney-On request.

This meal is enough to feed two hungry souls & the food is very tasty.

BTW- I had been to Chung Hua @ Basheer bagh for dinner last evening and ordered the following (SILVERWOOD + 4)

1, Chicken Hot n Sour soup
2, Veg Man-chow soup
3, Sweet corn Soup
4, Apollo Fish
5, Chicken Majestic
6, American Chowpsey
7, Singapore Fried Rice.

The only highlight was the great taste of Chicken Majestic, otherwise the food was quite average.

Total Damages-Rs 740.

Note-Even on Thursday evening, the restaurant was packed to the brim.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Had been to Hotel Ebony for team lunch two days back. Rs 300 (Incl of Taxes) was pretty reasonable given the fact that it is in Jubilee Hills area.

The Non-Veg folks liked the food. Veg was also pretty decent, however no Veg Biryani served.

Will have to check the Ala carte one day.

A colleague was recommending Exotica (B.Hills Rd 12). Has anyone been there?
