re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

After many years had the opportunity to taste food from famous Nanking

Nanking has shut shop at Parklane and reopened at a much spacious place in a lane right after secunderabad club.

Tasted the following :-

Diced Chicken Chilly ( Dry Snack) : Very good

Onion Prawns : Juicy and quite good

Veg Fried Rice : Good

Schezwan Veg Curry : Good

Schezwan Chicken Curry : Very good

Prices are reasonable. 180 to 220 for snacks. 100-150 for rice and noodles items

Only service tax and no service charge

Ambience is very nice and spacious with a good crowd in evenings

Barbeque Nation at R 36, Jubilee Hills

One of favorite non-veg restaurant. I love starters here. I mostly complete my meal with assorted non-veg grilled starters, prawns are really yummy.

The live dances performances in between by staff to entertain guests provides a real festive feeling.

If you take away some of the lovely beef kebebs from places like Prince.
Microwave it for 2 mins before eating it.
It does not change the flavor but makes the meat a lot softer and easy to chew.

Yeah, there is hardly anything NOT to like about Barbeque Nation. So what's the latest pricing of their buffet for lunch and dinner?

Btw, I recall reading on this thread you mentioned Prince serves multiple pieces of chicken in their chicken biryani? That's not the case

They serve only "Single Piece" in their Chicken Biryani that I enjoyed at a house party with many BHP'ians about a week back.

Also, I confess, I loved the Chicken Biryani. Rice was mildly dry, decently masala coated, chicken was soft and succelent and overall the biryani tasted quite nice.

Since i was also a party to the above i would say the only dish i liked was the diced chicken chilly.

Rest all were okish.

With my limited experience of having chinese/indo chinese food in hyderabad i would rate 'aromas of china' the best so far followed by mainland china

Slightly less priced than the above and good food would be shanghai chef.

After seeing so many FANTASTIC reviews from fellow TBHPians, visited Megha City and ordered their famous sambar rice for a take-away. As read on TBHP, it was so yummy that me and wifey gulped it within minutes!! Spicy, tangy and perfect taste of sambar. Would rate it among the BEST!

Aromas of China, Mainland China and Ming Court are in a different league and cannot be and should not be compared with Nanking, Chung Hua etc.

In my books, my favorites are :-

Aroma of China
Ming Court
Shangai Chef
Wonton ( They aren too consistent though)

Shangai Chef pricing is way higher than Nanking. All dishes range between 200-300 and quanities are half than what is served at Nanking

Nanking is truly indianized version of chinese and agreed not great on flavours. Tastes a little better than the bandhi version but, the pricing and portions tilt in its favour.

Glad you liked it. Pour a generous helping of liquid ghee and mix it with supplied pickle. That's one step away from heaven !!!

There was a time my wife was addicted to it. Had to do many things to get her de-addicted from the Megha City Sambhar Rice

Aromas of China is in the pricing range of Mainland China (MC) but is more than one thousand times better than MC.

I have more or less come to a conclusion that I should not visit MC even if I am getting free food there.

They are always eager to follow this new Murphy's Law : If something can be made to go wrong with a lot of effort, MC will make sure everything goes wrong without any effort.

OTOH, me and my wife are frequent visitors to Wonton and we found him to be quite consistent. Since both of us used to work around Gachibowli, we used to wander the streets of Indiranagar during lunches and most of the times we found ourselves climbing the stairs to Wonton. Their Manchow soup is one of our favourites. But hey, on a side note. She is a veggie and I am a forced veggie whenever I dine with her.

My bad. Actually what I meant is I always enjoyed eating at Wonton when in small groups ( 1-4 people) but, whenever we went there as a big group the food always turns out to be pathetic.

Having said that, Wonton is definetly not a bad bet

I have visited Barbeque Nation last week, the prices of veg and non-veg buffet for lunch are Rs.600 and Rs.650/- including taxes (service charge, service tax and sales tax). I don't remember the exact prices of dinner, might be Rs.50 more than lunch on each.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Let us also discuss, what options we have in Hyderabad for people working late nights?i.e. when restos shut shop at 11pm.

my hangout area was DLF till date.but the new sub inspector has created havoc in the light of the blasts.now there are no tapris selling omlettes and maggi.

my option now is to go till BHEL to eat biryani of 60rs.

There is this new place in the shilparaman complex ,its open till 1.30am or so.

For bundis(carts) selling egg dosa or maggi ,plenty of them in by-lanes of madhapur.

I believe the shwarma folks of tolichowki are open late nights as well.

Still hungry and no food for you ,then take the orr and eat at the airport food zone (its 30 mins drive from gachibowli)

There's this restaurant named Windows of the World(WoW) in Cyber Towers, Madhapur. It's usually open til 1-2AM. Food quality and service was decent when I was working there 3yrs ago, not sure of the present .
