Hi Guys,

I have received atleast 10 calls on the past couple of days from people claiming to be from tata motors, tata insurance et all. Everyone invariably wants the last 4 letters of my car Regn No. When asked for the reason, I get replies ranging from Lucky draw to Car loans for Nano. Everytime I reply 'not interested' and the other person just hangs up w/o even saying sorry or thank you. I am so fed up with these calls that I blasted the guy who called me last (some 30 min ago). Did any of the bangy folks receive any such call(s)?

Could be some marketing research company doing their routine drill. Or some bunch of trainees trying to achieve their call targets.

Next time you receive such calls, answer the call activate loudspeaker and mute the call. let them talk shout scream haul whatever they want

Looks like some phishing scam. Why do that want the number of your car for making a draw? If they have your number, let them go ahead and include your name in the draw.

Same here. My car insurance is up for renewal and it is but natural for the agents to call during this time. But TATA AIG call me at least 5 times a day. 2-3 calls from Bombay and 2-3 from the agent at Blore.

And boy, are they offering good? They had good discounts, free service coupons [in collaboration with Advaith Hyundai i believe] and a free holiday package as well! Never bothered about the holiday package and free service coupons but their price was also low compared to others.

So I went for it.

Oh Yes, even I get these calls - from some number in Ahmedabad (know through the STD Code).

The lady on the other side claims that she is calling from Tata Motors, that they are conducting a market survey, and wants to know -

a) If we own any car(s)
b) The manufacturer details
c) The model variant
d) Year of Purchase.

I have NOT divulged any details to them.

I don't know if this is a scam or not, but it is crunch time for many businesses. Sales / Marketing / Telemarketing execs are under a lot of pressure and, hence, have increased their daily number of calls.

I have got these calls on my cell, about 3 times till date. They ask about the registration numbers of the vehicles owned by me for some lucky draw. I think they are hired by some data collection company and probably sell this to people/companies for selling whatever. It has nothing to do with Tata really but they are nothing but wasting our time for sure. They do not even tell you properly, where are they calling from, probably because they do not have a good answer for that.

I have also received 3 to 4 calls from these guys over the last 4 days. The number from which i got a call even today is +0917940211616. They told me the same thing all the time that they are from Tata and they are calling from Ahmedabad. They know which car i own and asked for the last 4 digits. I refused giving them any information.

As mentioned earlier by someone in this thread they are mannerless. They dont give proper details and when we say we are not intrested in any of their offers they just hang up without thanking or apologising. Guess, it is a scam.
