Your walking styles

In side walks, office corridors, in shops which side you do you walk? Do you follow the same way that you drive - being on the left side and the person coming from the opposite would pass thru your right?

IMHO - In US of A, people generally tend to follow the road manners while walking also. If you have two stairs, people going up would take the stairs on their right side and people coming down would take the stair which is on their right side.

I used to bump into lot of people here because of walking on wrong side, then I corrected it myself

Well, I keep one leg on the right side, another on the left and walk dead center.
Sorry, I dont seem to get the point! why a poll! why a thread?!

I had a team member who walked on the right side, but had a habit of trying to overtake everybody, and bumping into everybody on the road. had a tough time explaining him why it was rude.

I follow rules of the road, or the mob.

Interesting poll.
Had never noticed that I inadvertently always used to walk on the left side of roads/corridors etc. but I follow the crowd if its going the other way.

However on roads in India, it is better to walk opposite to the cars, as you have better chances of avoiding getting hit from the front than the back

Heck of a thread idea! Come to think of it, I follow the road rules when walking too. Strange that I never thought about it, but do it subconsciously.

A very different thread. I actually saw the results first before voting. Before looking at results, I had decided to vote for " Less Crowded " and surprisingly there are many who have same pattern.

Again, a surprisingly strong observation is appreciated as well as the thread itself.

crowded areas is more like being pushed or carried with the flow.

Crazy thread..different

I try to walk without shaking my b-u-t-t. Jokes apart, 55% on the left hand side, 40% with the crowd, and remaining 5% as if the road is mine!

Depends on mood, mostly brisk walking with long strides as if i own the road and use to a bit of a swagger.

When in a pensive mood, probably slouch a bit and strides become shorter. And, mostly towards the left side.

We were always taught to "stay to the left" in school, starting from 1st standard. Especially when goin up and down the stairs. I guess it makes a lot of sense....

I walk normally on straight roads, but when taking a turn i tend to go to the outside edge and then turn in with the apex barely 1/2 a foot away from me and then go to the outside again...
