What you have is tonsillitis . Now as this come and goes according to weather changes, it is mostly due to an infection. During weather changes your immunity usually hits a low which leads to a new infection or re activation of the previous infection. The doctor is most probably giving you antibiotics of different spectrum every time if you are going to the same doctor along with anti inflammatory and fever reducers. It could be Viral or Bacterial. If you want to try your luck with bacterial ( most are bacterial ) get a rapid strep test or a bacterial culture along with antibiotic sensitivity done. it is a laborious and long process, will probably take a few days to week but will tell you exactly which bacteria is causing the infection and which antibiotic will work and then do a full course of that antibiotic. Never ever in life quit a course as if you do you put yourself on a risk of a more dangerous phase of the infection. You may need to do a second course of antibiotics to prevent re activation of the infection at a later stage. Get a rapid strep test or bacterial culture done every time you get such a problem. It will help in knowing your doctor if it was a re- activation of previous infection or a new infections. If they are reactivation then doctor will be able to treat in the second go. If its a new infection every time then try improving your hygiene and avoid coming in close contact with people who are infected. If nothing works then surgery is the last option, I would not recommend it unless it is an absolute necessity.

I recommend you to never change doctors for treatment (atleast for a specific condition) because a doctor doing your treatment know way more of your history than a new doctor ever will and the current doctor will have some doctor-specific observations which you cannot tell to the new doctor.

If it is "no", how about short distances..?
Rajesh, I would sincerely recommend you not to drive as epileptic episode can occur at any time and if it occurs while you are driving then you are not only putting yourself at risk but other people too.It is not limited to bathroom. I would recommend you to start driving only if you have have been seizure free for 6 months. Get you EEG done regularly when on treatment and off treatment. And one more thing , Stop taking too much tension and try to be calm always. It will help you to minimize seizures. Wish you great health. Hoping you get well soon

I have a health problem myself, would request a doctor to advise me on how to recover from this. Everytime i seem to eat food, my stomach sort of burns for a while after which it becomes normal. I have a sense of feeling bloated all the time and have flatulence at times. This sense of flatulence increases during the nights. Also, i am feeling weak most of the time. I will give you more information if you so require.

1. I eat regularly and avoid food from outside.
2. I drink adequate water
3. I drink tea/coffee only twice a day
4. The "output" is regular too. Both 1,2.

On another question i have, which is the best way to remove hard-compacted wax from the ears?

I went for complete abdomen scanning (Ultrasound), & the somewhat results apart from my blood & urine (yet to be received) tests are:

Features are suggestive of -hepatomegaly. -ascitis. To be correlated clinically.
LIVER : Liver is enlarged in size, measuring around 15.4cms with uniform echopattern. No obvious focal intra-hepatic lesion detected. Intra-hepatic biliary radicals are not dilated.Portal vein is normal in calibre. GALL BLADDER : Gall bladder partially contracted.Common bile duct is not dilated. PANCREAS : Pancreas is normal in size and echopattern. SPLEEN : Spleen is normal in size & echopattern. KIDNEYS : Both kidneys are normal in position, size and outline. Cortico-medullary differentiation of both kidneys is maintained. Free fluid is detected in peritonel cavity. URINARY BLADDER : Urinary bladder is normal in wall thickness with clear contents. No significant intra or extraluminal mass seen. PROSTATE : Prostate is normal in size and echo-pattern.

It Ascitis curable? Is it fatal? I heard that, there is no cure at all for Ascitis & I have to go for liver transplant. This is the only way out. Please, please respond to me.

Hello Team,

After taking treatment for Ascitis & hepatomegaly for about 3 months now (Aldactone & NUSAM 200 tablet), I went for all tests again. The abdomen scanning showed that the liver has gone back to it's normal shape & no longer is enlarged ( no complications like livercirrosis). Also, the volume of ascitis is minimal. Now I'm just taking NUSAM 200 tab as suggested by my Gastro specialist.
However, I have one query. When, I have huge volume of liquid from Ascitis in my abdomen & when my liver was enlarged by 2.5 cm my blood tests (Liver function Test) showed Bilirubin as 1.1 This was during the very initial stages when I went for first consultation for abdomen bloating.
Now after 3 months of treatment, when my ascitis has reduced considerable & liver is in normal size, my liver function test shows Bilirubin as 1.5
However, there are no syntoms of jaundice, no yellow color on my body. My gastro said, it's normal.
Guys, is Bilirubin 1.5 NORMAL????
Please reply.

BR,
//Dev

You probably have peptic ulcers the reason why you have that pain. Go to a doctor immediately and start your treatment before it gets worse. He will probably give you proton pump inhibitors and similar medicines. Also you would have to strictly check your diet.
About the ear wax any ENT Specialist will be able to help you with that. He will flush your ears with water and that should do the trick. Don't try it at home as you risk damaging your ears

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hello fellow bhpians and docs,

Need advice.

So, this is the problem I've been facing, I've been suffering from Chronic Sinusitis or at least that's what my ENT says. It's been on for a few years now and at any given point in time,I'm not able to breathe freely through both my nostrils, it's usually one nostril that lets me breathe in and out without a problem and the other is 90% of the time blocked.
And when i get a cold along with fever, it's even worse, my frontal sinus starts paining badly and the area above my eyes gives me major headaches and I'm unable to bend my head due to the concentrated pain.
Anyways, once the fever goes away, my problem becomes less evident and i somehow get used to it. However, my ENT tells me that my Sinusitis is mainly because of an allergy and changing weather and it's only possible to determine the exact allergy i have with a blood test and we've never got around to getting it done.
I'm 17 and a half now and this problem of mine is really messing with my head and my studies.
A family friend suggested the use of neti pot which i have been diligently using once in a while and it gives me temporary relief after which i'm able to breathe through both my nostrils. I'v tried homeopathy and allopathy but nothing seems to permanently cure my problem. I believe that it's a case of common Chronic Sinusitis.

Does anyone have any solution that would help me in the long run? Thanks in advance

Hi friends,

My digestive system it seems has completely gone for a toss. I suffer from frequent bouts of acidity and also acid reflux. I take over the counter antacids to relieve the symptoms. Is there a sure shot way of getting rid of acid reflux?

I also suffer from flatulence at times. If a meal is slightly delayed I start getting pains in the upper stomach which extends to the chest too.

Any suggestions to solve this?

Allergy is an enigmatic condition. You better be aware of what is causing flare up of your symptoms and try at the most to avoid it. And please do mention what allopathic medicines have you used before? For time being make sure you take hot water baths and steam inhalation for symptomatic relief. And lastly, don't worry allergy generally goes off on its own when your immune system gets used to allergen causing the symptoms.

Acid reflux is a very common condition, especially in males. I hope you're already taking some PPIs(omeprazole/rabeprazole/pantoprazole) in the morning, if not, start taking one from tomorrow. And make sure, you stick to strict timings on your meals. Also avoid spicy foods and hot beverages. If you booze, for god's sake please stop it right from today.Include atleast 40-70gms of fibre rich food (fenugreek seeds, leafy veggies, beans, etc.) in your diet, it helps for sure.If the symptoms persist beyond one month of this practice, please consult a physician. There are surgical methods to permanently get rid off reflux, but with many easier, non-invasivee treatments available around, it's not worth to undergo surgery.

Good to see you are recovering. The bilirubin becoming slightly raised, is ok. It is seen in a lot of patients during recovery. The bilirubin will come go back to normal in a few months. Enjoy your life now

This is a normal physiological phenomena. It does get exaggerated in a few people like me. Next time you are with any people whom you are comfortable with, ask them to expire via their nose on a flat metal blade. Observe the vapor from both nostrils.

Regarding your allergy issues, I am not the best person to guide you on this.

Thanks,

Hi all

Responding to the call for Doctors on the forum.
I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon, more than happy to provide advice. I rush to add, anything I say does not replace a proper face to face consultation with a doctor.

Cheerio

Welcome Onboard Alphadog
Here goes my question. I am recently feeling pain in my left knee while climbing staircase but not while walking. Sometimes I feel pain in my right knee also while climbing. When I do situps i get kut kut sound from My knees. (can it be vaat problem as per ayurved).
HISTORY 3 years back also similar thing happened but pain was little, at that time an orthopedic surgeon gave some medicine temporarily and asked to do exercise of sit up (uthak baithak). It got cured after some days. Uric acid level was also normal but was advised not to fast, feast, take alcohol (rarely I used to take a glass or two of beer).
Around 6 months later in the morning I used to feel powerless (can't explain exact feelings) in my joints like knees, ankles, hand joints. It was not pain but for some time used to feel even reluctant to get up from bed. I consulted a famous Ayurvedic Vaidya. He gave me some medicine which reduced my symptoms gradually. I continued medicine for 6 months. Some vaat problem. After checking my pulse, he said that my body is stressed (sharir dub gaya hai) at that time.
I dont work out, but like to walk.
What should i do now, PL advise, whom to consult.
Thanks Sanjay

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hi, I would like to take help from dentist on this forum. For the past couple of years I have been having severe problems with my teeth. Three of my teeth on the top have been already removed since I was experiencing severe pain. The doctor I consulted told me that I might have had a fall in the past, this has resulted in formation of some kind of puss due to which I am having pain. Right now I am experiencing pain on one of my top front tooth. This has been occurring for the past couple of months. The pain remains for few days and vanishes after that and recurs again. I take pain killers to suppress the pain however the pain is recurring. What could be the problem here? I am scared that if I go to dentist then they might remove my remaining couple of top front teeth. Please let me know on the course of action that I have to take now.

Don't quite understand why your teeth were not preserved & managed conservatively with RCT / apicoectomy - were they fractured by any chance? Did your dentist give you any other option apart from extraction? Do you have any pre-treatment x-rays of the removed/painful teeth that you can upload here? Maybe you can get an OPG done and upload the image here for a more specific opinion.

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hi SS-Traveller, thanks for the reply. The doctor tried preserving the teeth by RCT. I had to go for many RCT sitting however things did not improve. Let me get one more OPG and upload the same here. Also I had a broken tooth (one of the grinding tooth), sorry I am unable to get the specific medical name for the same. When I consulted the doctor, he told me that there's nothing to worry about the broken tooth.

Also when my last tooth was extracted, I had a traumatic experience. The tooth had broken (this is one of the front tooth), the cosmetic surgeon had to extract it as the surgeon was not available on that day. The cosmetic surgeon could not extract it and he used tools and hit that broken tooth so hard that I had a traumatic experience. Even after this the cosmetic surgeon could not remove. He left the other half that was hidden just like that and told me that the remaining half will be gone on its own. However I was having excruciating pain after that, so I had to go back again but this time the surgeon removed the tooth and the surgeon was actually was not happy with the cosmetic surgeon on the way he had tried to extract the broken tooth.

Right now I am having pain on one of my front tooth. The pain started from yesterday. In fact I had pain on this tooth couple of months before. I do have pre-treatment x-ray and OPG. I will get these scanned and upload it here at the earliest. Thank you very much for the support.
