re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Any Opthal Bhpian:

Having an itchiness in the eye. Sometimes redness.
Have been using Intas Andre Eye Cool which gives a burning sensation (indicating some infection)on the eye when put but eventually cools the eye after that.
Temporary relief.

Any suggestions?

I'm only an MBBS, but in case an Ophthalmologist doesn't reply to your post, here are some suggestions:

- Itchiness and redness alone sounds more like allergy than infection. Hope you haven't had any pustular discharge?
- The burning sensation when you put on the Andre eye drops is probably because it has some irritant constituent. Most eye medications cause it.
- Try Azelastine (0.05%) eye drops, one drop twice a day. If it's allergy, it should settle.
- If it doesn't help, consult an ophthalmologist in person. They will examine and prescribe you the necessary medicine.

Many Thanks One 77.
It could be some allergic reaction.
There is no discharge what so ever and just the itchiness.

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Today morning while brushing I noticed bleeding between two of my molars. One of them is a dental implant and I had it got it done a couple of years back. None of them feel loose and I am not in any pain. The bleeding was quite substantial and I had to spit out a good amount of blood. I am planning to visit a dentist in a couple of days but what can be the reason for this sudden bleeding?

Tartar leading to gingivitis.

Get a scaling done very six months. You don't want to land up with peri-implantitis.

Tejas - Can you tell me what exactly is involved in scaling? Do I just approach the dentist and say that I need scaling done?

TIA

Approach the dentist and give him your history and not the treatment plan.

Scaling is cleaning of the teeth. You'd require sub-gingival scaling (i.e. deep scaling / cleaning below the gum line)

Thanks Doc,

I eat Vegetables daily, and meat(Chicken) probably once a week. Fruits are not very regular.
I am Vitamin D3 deficient and was taking ShellCal for a while, but when I saw that Revital included Vitamin D along with others minerals and Vitamins, I shifted to this. I have neither seen any benefits nor has there been any harm, so was checking if there are other alternatives. I take one tablet daily morning.
The Vitamin D3 deficiency was identified when I went for a blood check for my prolonged back pain. I have been taking a tablet for this for almost 6 months, and yet there is no relief in the pain. I also did physiotherapy exercises, but not of much help. Any other suggestions please?

Revital has lesser quantity of Vitamin D and calcium compared to ShellCal. You can go for another test to see if you are still deficient in Vitamin D3 and calcium as well (basically check the progress). If improved continue revital as a supplement every other day, and if not improved take ShellCal daily.

As for the back pain:
- Did you take an X-Ray of your lower back? (Get it done to see if the vertebral column is aligned properly, and the vertebral spaces between them are normal)
- Are you using Lumbar Belt for back support? (Get one, wear it all day and you can remove it at night)
- Along with the above you can take paracetamol 500mg tab twice daily if the pain is intolerable. Take the tabs for 2-3 days and see if the pain subsides. If not then we can go for other options.
- Try to maintain a straight posture.
- Try not to lift heavy objects.
- Continue with the physiotherapy.
- And most of all keep a positive attitude.

Yes Doc, There was an X-ray taken and the Doctor did say that the alignment is normal, but there is minimal wear which was caused by the VitaminD3 deficiency.
I will be going for a health check in the next couple of weeks and I do plan to include this as part of the test to check on the progress.
I am not using a lumbar belt, The doctor never prescribed one but guess I will start to use now. Any particular brand that you recommend?

Once I do the test, I will let you know the results. On the physiotherapy there was no treatment but some exercises that were told to be done which honestly I haven't been sincerely doing but will start to do soon enough.

By the way how old are you? and what is your occupation??

For lumbar belt I prefer Vissco brand (Sacro Lumbar Belt with Double Lock Elastic Strapping). It provides better grip and tightness.

http://www.visscoindia.com/magni_vissco/prdct0101.htm

Quick pointers on using the belt:
- Always wear the belt while sitting (at home, work, or driving), walking, and lifting weights.
- You can remove the belt while lying down.
- Do not use the belt while sleeping. (can get uncomfortable)
- You can remove the belt during meals and put it back on after an hour.

Prolonged sitting on a chair at a desk with improper posture (i.e sitting with an arched back, humped back) can cause lower back pain (mostly seen with professionals sitting all day on a desk job or using computers). It is important to sit straight, but not hyper-straight (where the lower back goes inward). Best way to do it is to take a chair and sit in front of a mirror facing sideways so you are able to see your back from the side. This way you can see if your lower back is straight, and not curved in or out. It will also allow you to find that comfortable sitting position. Lower back should be perpendicular to the chair.

When lying down or sleeping try to sleep on a flat surface. Having a wrong mattress can also cause back ache (lower back pain), due to uneven weight distribution leading to strain on muscles and fatigue. Having a good mattress which provides good back support plus comfort is essential. I personally cannot recommend one because everyone has their own definition of comfort, so try looking around.

Please do continue with the physiotherapy. It is essential to loosen up (stretch) the back muscles to lessen any strain on them during the day (i.e. just like sports players doing warm up before actually starting the game). Light exercise and stretches after waking up in the morning help significantly. But do not exert yourself, no strenuous exercise, start little by little and then as you get comfortable you can do more.

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hi need some urgent assistance.

My father needs a Pacemaker implant. The costs of the implant vary from 2.7L for an Accent MRI/DR to 1.4L for a DDDR Sustain DR PM 2136. i wanted to know if it is possible to source the unit at a little less as my overall budget is tight for the procedure and the care required thereafter. Any help would be greatly appreciated as he need to undergo the implant urgently.

Guys,

I am not sure if it is some type of allergy but the moment I sit in an A/C room or when there is a temperature difference, I have a runny nose and a sneeze attack of sorts. I get a weird sensation on the inside top of my nose, a kind of prick and sneezing starts and does not seem to end. When it ends, I have a runny nose.
Citrazine sometimes help sometime does not. At times when I blow my nose, I see slight spot of blood as well.
What could it be?

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Urgent advise required!
My cousin(Age 38) fell from his bike but there was no visible injury that time. After 1 week,He got admitted in hospital due to swelling and severe pain in his left elbow. Spent almost a week in hospital and got operated for some bacterial infection. Case closed.

Exactly 2 weeks after this incident,He complained about severe pain in his chest and breathing difficulty,Now currently in ICU in the same hospital. They said bacterial infection has spread in his blood.Blood test results will take atleast 48hrs.He will be in ICU till that time.
Looks like even the doctors are baffled by this case.
I am not sure why this was not diagnosed before when he got operated for the same infection.

Please let us know your suggestions.
Sorry for the long post.

How interesting to read your post. Perhaps I can join in?

When I sit in draft from AC I get a sore at the back of the mouth, as if some infection is coming. Have never understood the cause!
