Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Off late all my family members (incl. guest who stay for a week) are affected by severe throat pain/cold/cough and finally fever. It started with me, then to my son, to my wife, MIL, SILs daughter.

Since it was unbearable for me visited a ENT and he informed it is some kind of allergic bronchitis. After the medication, i am now perfectly fine.

What could be the reason for this phenomena? Water or dust??

Would be helpful if anyone here could help me with which brand/model we should select.
Not much of choice and expertise available. User experience varies from patient to patient, and there is no bench mark for the cost. Best way is to check with your Physician/Pulmonologist for any recommendation. Or PM me I would forward you couple of numbers. Portability, Maintenance and Service are important as these are not very widely used devices.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Any Orthopedics here?
Need some desperate respite from nerve pain in my right arm,the pain has been there for last 2.5weeks and starts from my elbow to my last two fingers.
How it started?
Heavy incline bench press, lat set while lowering the weight, wrist turned backwards a little more, stopped working out and went home to apply some warm water. Being a fitness guy this set back of not working for last 2.5 weeks is not welcome.
I went to a doc and he gave me ezact mr tablets twice daily for five days and some lotion to apply. Helped about 20%.
I feel this is my ulnar nerve that seems to have got some irritation. What can i do to speed up the process pf recovery? Local physio says its ok to workout and could possibly release itself while working out. Some one else suggested Re-Nerve G tabs as helpful.
Could any one please help out.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Guys, asking a question here on behalf of someone else.

Our maid has a 5 year old daughter. As per the maid, the girl doesn't talk even after completing 5 years (except a couple of words like mama, etc).
When the girl was 1 month old, she fell down from her crib, and was unconscious for about an hour. So, the maid and her family members speculate that this incident might have something to do with the behavior of the girl.

Off late, the girl has become cranky. She gets angry for trivial matters and starts crying/throwing tantrums. So, the maid is worried about her and wants to know if there's a way to treat her.

The maid is very poor. Her husband has abandoned her few years ago, so she's on her own. To top it, she is uneducated (read: not even studied till 1st standard). She doesn't even know which doctor she should approach.

So, the queries are:
1. What doctor she should approach? (e.g. Pediatric Neurologist?)
2. If anyone knows a good doctor in Pune, that would be very helpful.
3. Also, given that she's poor, it would be very helpful if anyone can suggest an organization which could help her financially to treat her daughter.

Any help appreciated!
Thanks!

Hearing aid users

Starkey India is giving away some offers. Their Rs 3.2 lacs costing model is given at Rs 49k. I went to their center and its true, not a gimmick.

Has anyone tried it? The offer is upto 31 March.

Seems to good to be true. But then HA process are known to be marked up with unimaginable margins.

I enquired about trial period and they offered to give a trial period of one week provided we give them a post dated cheque.

Not sure if I am too late to help, but you can direct her to the KEM Hospital, Rasta Peth, Pune. They have a separate department to assess & treat children's 'developmental issues (speech, neural damage, etc)'. I believe they have a charitable trust too which can help with treatment costs. (I think the hospital has counselors who will help in this regard).

Hope this helps.

Hi Forum, my wife has allergy to Oxybenzone (used very widely as ingredient in sun screens). Do you have any idea about OTC sun screens that do not contain this compound?

About hearing aids

Friends, need some suggestion about good audiologists in Bangalore who provides good service for my mother. I have visited many of the well known hearing aid centers like Shreyas etc but everyone seems to be more interested towards selling hearing aids rather than providing service. I feel they are pushy. I had previously got a siemens hearing aid which my mother complained about the fit and is lying around without being used for years now. This time i want to go to a better place which provides a trial period option and good service. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Just wanted some advice for toothpaste for children under 12 years. Some dentists recommend that kids should not be using the regular toothpaste and should be using something like 'GC Tooth Mousse' or 'Clinpro Tooth Creme'. These are quite costly but to be fair the dentist asked me to purchase directly instead of from him (he's a very good fellow).

Wanted some other opinions on the same.

As long as the child is not swallowing the toothpaste, normal toothpaste is good enough. Very young children tend to swallow toothpaste and in those cases, it is preferable to use non-fluoridated toothpaste or toothpaste with less fluoride (458ppm is usually present in most kids kinds of toothpaste). GC tooth mousse or clinpro are specialized cremes to be used in addition to toothpaste in children/adults very prone to cavities.

One suggestion - reduce the quantity of paste. I dont think a full inch long dispensation of paste is required for any one.

For someone who is very particular about oral and dental hygiene and yet has to pay (pun unintended) annual visits to the dentist in order to get his cavities filled, these products seem interesting. Are these to be used daily? Asking this as they retail at about a thousand bucks per tube, much much costlier than our regular toothpastes.

No Doubt, GC Tooth Mousse is a very effective product and totally worth the cost for who need to use it. But it helps you prevent mainly smooth surface cavities, not much helpful on pit and fissure cavities. we personally use GC tooth mousse for our son, he is going to be 5 soon. he has no cavities. without tooth mousse, at 36 even I have no cavities. So, I would recommend using these products on basis of the recommendation by your dentist as per need.
