Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

My son just turned 6 a month ago.

On his lower jaw, the baby teeth have not fallen off but 2 permanent teeth have started coming behind the baby teeth.

Only one of the 4 baby teeth is slightly shaky and the rest are very firm.

We have been advised by our dentist to get all 4 baby teeth extracted.

Request the dentists on the forum please advise.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Dental guys...

Head a call from England yesterday. Basic question is what is the guideline price for implants these days?

In 2004 I got two implants and a 3-tooth bridge in London for 2500 GBP, which was considered low price at the time.

Maybe ten years ago, I think my dentist mentioned 40k for a single, but the tooth survived so never went ahead... And another, I've settled for living with the gap.

From what I could make out (in car, parked, slightly rough WhatsApp call) he might have a 4-tooth gap.

Also, it it still a two-visit job with several weeks for the implant to set in before crown/bridge is fitted? Sir fares might wipe out the saving.

He's Indian, but just a music teacher, so cost is an issue.

He's coming to Chennai next week.

I'll ask him to send a pic of the gap

sabkadentist.com quotes 25,000 Rs for a dental implant in Bombay. They aren't usually on the expensive side. At least for RCTs & stuff like that.

I would advise getting only the 2 central baby teeth removed for now.

Sorry, Just realized after submitting that it was an old post.

The Cost of Dental implants procedure highly varies depending upon the complexity of the case and the type/brand of implant and type of crowns made over it.
In a generally straightforward uncomplicated case with a single missing tooth, 30-60k is the normal price range.

Also a healing time of 2-3 months should be followed before loading the implants with the final prosthesis. So unless he's in India for a few months he will have to split the work into 2 parts. Implant placement now with healing caps and then a couple of months down the line he can get the final prosthesis placed after a checkup. That will be either in India or in the UK. If he is getting that done in the UK he should take note of the implant brand, series and size to pass on to the dentist and dental lab in the UK.

That seems very little! Thanks

How many implants are usually put for a bridge of four teeth? I saw this guy in November and noticed he seems to have quite a lower-jaw gap.

And thanks to all for info which I'll pass on

SabkaDentist is a national chain (used to be called mydentist earlier I think) - if you enter your name/number/city/email on their site they will show you the price for all procedures in your city (you can give fake number/email etc - no verification mail). I have had decent experience with them for small procedures - check if it's there whether your friend is planning to come.

Thanks for that. They don't include Chennai, although Bangalore might be close.

I've passed on relevant info on Whatsapp. He returned thanks, passing that on here . I have also reminded him that a very old friend of his is a doctor here! It was that doctor who recommended me to my Chennai dentist!

In fact, he was born and bred here, he should have better sources than I do. I guess he knows that I have personal experience of having implants. And he's been in London for 20 years.

For Omega 3 or multi vitamins as far as possible go for pharma company products. Amazon has many brands available for less than half the price but most of these skimp on quality and literally outsource it to the cheapest manufacturer. You can choose any brand from your local chemist as long as its from a pharma company (eg. Merck, Sanofi, etc)

Hello AZT, this might appear to be a dumb question but I would prefer to hear it from a doctor as opposed to what I can read on the internet. What are the benefits of Omega 3 fish oil capsules? I am a normal/healthy human and don't have any issues currently in terms of any major deficiency or as such. I recently had a full body test and all parameters except Vitamin D3 were normal. I have taken the recommended dose of the same.

Asking about Omega 3 capsules because I keep getting these recommendations from non medicos every once in a while. They say it will boost immunity, improve my sleep balance and eye vision, etc.

A doctor can actually clear the air I suppose.

Hi,

I am not a doctor but someone who takes every multi vitamin and mineral because this isn't Pseudo science but each of these actually have a different long term benefit in reducing disease risk and slowing aging. I wont comment on Omega 3 specifically, because recently I've also read up on how the process of transporting Omega 3 capsules is not temperature controlled so that reduces the efficacy but Omega 3 itself is an essential. You'll be surprised yourself when you read all the long term benefits. I'm attaching a research paper below titled ' The benefits of Vitamins for reducing disease risk and slowing aging '. You can skip directly to the Omega 3 page, I personally take all of these except Selenium because I've increased egg intake and Omega 3 I'm trying to get from fish directly.
