Regular vitamins aren't recommended - https://www.livescience.com/19000-vi...ier-death.html
However, Omega-3 is not a vitamin. The best way to get Omega-3 is to eat fatty fish (Sardine/Mackerel - both are cheap fishes). About capsules, Mega-3 from Dr. Reddy costs around 300 Rs for a strip of 30.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

I was diagnosed with Dengue on 4th Oct and was admitted in hospital. I was treated with fluids along with Neomol IV. Discharged on 6th after Haemoglobin and platelets count came normal. For one month I followed strict veg diet with lots of fluids and fruits. Later started with Mutton & chicken but avoided egg till last week.

Problem is till now I'm having pain in my both ankles, near the knee in right leg and in general I'm feeling weak in my hands. I'm unable to kneel down or sit with folded legs. It causes serious pain when I straighten my legs after folding them for a while. This includes sitting on chair as well. Doc says it takes time for recovery but 2 months is already a long time in my opinion. Is this normal with Dengue or should I do something else apart from drinking more fluids?

Not a doc but had Dengue. Not hospitalised, but maybe should have been.

The disease itself can go on for weeks: two months is not long. My lingering symptom was liver couldn't process fats, and I couldn't live on my beloved chai for a while. Doc said it would get better and it did. No lasting liver problem.

Sorry for pain. Dengue is no fun at all, in any way. Hope you get fully better soon.

Thanks to all those who advised re my friend's implants: he consulted my dentist who said it was not practical during a short visit. He has more missing teeth than I thought. Dentist is making upper and lower dentures for him for 11k, which gets a person hardly anything from a London dentist.

The pain is normal. Some forms of viral fever also have pain as a by product on the legs and in the arms.

Make sure you walk everyday inspite of the pain. Do hot pack treatment. Keep flexing. These will give you some relief.

Thanks for the replies people. Appreciate it! So I guess I need not worry much and continue my diet and fluids intake along with stretching.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

My wife and I had some tests done recently and it turned out that the Vitamin D count was deficient (13 for me and 16 for spouse).

Now the doctor was recommended an extensive treatment of 8 months of VitD injections starting with 1 every alternate day for a week then once per week gradually reducing to once per month. Also some tablets for 9 months. I wanted to ask are injections and that too for 8 months really necessary ? Will taking only tablets suffice ?

Please check out whether injections are for Vitamin B12 which is effective only in the regimen mentioned above, as poor absorption is a known challenge. But consult your doctor about oral medication if no major symptoms.

Vit D is usually given as oral medications but a bolus dose is given in case of weak bones or if symptomatic .

Both Vit B12 and Vit D require prolonged supplementation as stores take time to fill up, there by requiring top ups.

From what i know, majority of Indians are deficient in Vitamin D.

The range you described is what i hear most of my circle have. However myself and my wife included (we had similar range) were prescribed UpRise D3 weekly tablets only. No injection.

I propose you take a second opinion.

Thanks. I will confirm with my doctor because B12 is also on the lower side (211). Symptoms faced by me are frequent leg cramps and dizziness. The energy levels for both of us have been very low since some time.

Thanks. Yes I did read about this being a common ailment. I will take a second opinion this weekend.

The problem is both Doctors (the one suggesting it and the one I am about to visit for a second opinion) are close relatives and also trusted ones.

Dear members, Is hair transplant safe and can really help in baldness. I am in 40s and am losing hair fast. I have been thinking of transplant but with so many advertisements, it is difficult to understand what is a good option. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

My soon to be 4 months old niece had to have her 14th week vaccines around 20th March. Due to the Corona scare, her hospital advised us to postpone it for a few days.

The lockdown being extended till 14th April, she will be in her 18/19th week by then, with no guarantee that it would be possible get vaccinated even then.

I know that a little delay is fine, but given the current circumstances, what should be our line of action?

Delay it. My 5 and half year old neice was also due for vaccination in early March. Her paediatrician has advised to come after lockdown period. A couple of months delay won't have an effect as far as I see.

Hello bhardwhu, the evolution of hair transplantation techniques has been quite progressive and these days they are as safe as taking a B-complex injection. Give it a shot, no harm. The only caveat that I wish to point out would be to verify the credentials and history of the clinic before you get it done. Don’t get into penny wise-pound foolish situation.
Thanks

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hey bhardwhu, there are a lot of points that needs to be considered before you take the dive. My hairstyle almost resembles Amrish Puri Saab (no offence to the legend). I, despite being from the pharmaceutical sector gave up the idea of transplant because of the genetic predisposition of the trait. So, even if I end up paying a moolah for the transplant there will still be higher chances that I will loose the hair again due to the genes. Hence, I suggest you meet a trichologist and seek answers before you take any further step. I would abstain from taking any names to ensure I am in-line with the T-Bhp policies. I can help you out through PM.
Thanks
