I am exhibiting a strange behavior since last 4 months or so. Every night, as soon as I fall sleep, I will start getting dreams. And it continues till I wake up in the morning. This happens whole night without any break. Even when I wake up in between and go back to sleep, dreams starts immediately.
And most surprisingly, this is happening when I sleep in the day time as well!
This is affecting my sleep quality as I am not getting sound sleep in the night.
Does any of the doctor here knows what the issue is?

To make it very simple, an echo shows the heart structure and function, while a TMT is used to see how the heart functions during physical exertion. The cardiologist will prescribe either or both the tests based on symptoms. If you feel uncomfortable when climbing stairs, doing hard work, running or walking fast, a TMT would be required. If not, an echo and ecg would suffice. |
As mentioned in my previous post, this is for health check up which I do annually. There is no cardiologist prescription. I am not going due to any suspected cardiac issues. There are usually packages based on age, and cardiac checks are part of the package (for 40+ age) and they ask me which I want to go for. Usually at the counter they recommend tread mill test, and I go for it. I wanted to know a doctors perspective. Just want to know which of the two is better in detecting issues.

Like I said, it depends on symptoms. If you don't feel any discomfort doing any physical exertion, TMT may not be necessary. My post was to help you make an informed decision, and one cannot say which one is "better" at finding issues, as they have their own purposes.
Cyberchondria: The Internet-Induced Health Anxiety
Cyberchondria is a psychological condition where a person excessively searches for medical information online, leading to heightened anxiety about having serious illnesses. It is similar to hypochondria (health anxiety), but the key difference is that cyberchondria is specifically triggered and worsened by internet searches.
Key Features of Cyberchondria - Excessive Googling of Symptoms – A person frequently searches online for explanations of minor bodily sensations or symptoms.
- Believing the Worst-Case Scenario – They often jump to conclusions, thinking common symptoms indicate severe diseases (e.g., headache = brain tumor).
- Increased Anxiety and Panic – Repeated searches amplify their fears, sometimes leading to panic attacks.
- Doctor Distrust & Self-Diagnosis – They rely more on the internet than medical professionals, believing they can diagnose themselves better.
- Compulsive Information-Seeking – Even after reassurance from doctors or negative test results, they continue searching for alternative (often misleading) explanations.
Causes of Cyberchondria - Information Overload – The internet provides a mix of reliable and misleading health information, making it hard to differentiate between fact and fiction.
- Confirmation Bias – People tend to focus on scary diagnoses that match their symptoms rather than logical, more probable explanations.
- Fear of Medical Uncertainty – Some people struggle with not knowing and seek immediate, absolute answers online.
- Negative Healthcare Experiences – A person may distrust doctors due to past misdiagnoses or bad medical interactions, leading them to rely on self-research.
- Anxiety & OCD Tendencies – Those with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or obsessive-compulsive tendencies are more prone to cyberchondria.
Dangers of Cyberchondria - Increased Health Anxiety – Instead of reassurance, constant searching creates a cycle of fear and stress.
- Unnecessary Medical Tests & Costs – Some people demand unnecessary lab tests, scans, or treatments, increasing healthcare expenses.
- Delayed or Avoided Treatment – If they distrust doctors, they might refuse real medical help when needed.
- Psychosomatic Effects – Anxiety can lead to real physical symptoms (e.g., dizziness, headaches, stomach issues), reinforcing their fears.
How to Manage Cyberchondria - Limit Online Searches – Set a rule for how often you check symptoms online.
- Use Trusted Medical Sources – Stick to websites like WHO, Mayo Clinic, or NHS instead of random forums or YouTube videos.
- Challenge Catastrophic Thinking – Ask: "What are the most likely causes of my symptoms, not just the scariest ones?"
- Seek Professional Help – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help break the cycle of obsessive health-related searches.
- Mindfulness & Anxiety Reduction – Meditation, breathing exercises, and therapy can help manage health anxiety.
Final Thought
Cyberchondria is a modern issue caused by easy access to medical information—but without medical expertise, it often leads to more harm than good.

My dear sir
I would request you to accept your body for the imperfect specimen of human evolution that it is, with all its foibles & quirks; just like anybody else's & stop looking for solutions to life issues' from doctors. They are trained in pattern recognition of illnesses & diseases (the good one's are, at least); not every minor squeak & rattle. Seeking medical attention for such issues isn't likely to be fruitful either objectively (as in a establishing a diagnosis) or economically (for you, they would get paid nonetheless).
Kind of like making peace with that squeak from the dashboard. Trying to fix what isn't broke can be a frustrating exercise and may even introduce more squeaks/rattles!
Rather, maintaining a healthy weight, making exercise that makes you sweat a part of the daily routine rather than the occasional gym flex, good sleep hygiene (no screentime at sleep time), regular meal timings and general moderation in food/caffeinated/sugary beverages intake is much more likely to be helpful in sorting out minor sleep issues. Not to mention staying away from alcohol & tobacco. Or the friends who drink significant amounts of alcohol/smoke/have eating as a relaxing strategy.
Wish you all the best.
Dear Doctors, I am facing a strange problem and would like to get some direction on what needs to be done & should I be worried. Since past month, a single boil appears on my left hand, it fills with pus, gets extremely painful for a week, starts drying out and then another appears on some place else. I am on the 5 one now, there has been no acne problem in my life what so ever. What should be my course of action?
Thanks in advance, appreciate all that you do for others!!

If you are facing this problem since one month, have you shown it to a local doctor (general physician)?
Better to visit them instead of text advice here since a physical inspection will be more helpful.
Note: I am not a doctor. My 2 paisa can be ignored, if this is already done.

I have not, I really like to avoid medicines and thought this is not that huge a problem and will take care of itself but now I am a bit bothered and looking for a general guidance before I visit a doctor.
Disclaimer- I am not a doctor, but have some educational background in pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, anatmoy physiology and biomechanics as part of my educational background. I work very closely with Anesthetists, different Speciality surgeons, dermatology and general physicians too. What I am sharing is from my 15 years spent in the healthcare industry.
It appears to be some sort of localized infection. Does the pus filled boil hurt when touched or pressed and does it itch when dried and scabbed over? Also what is the approximate time for the one whole cycle to finish?

It is very painful when pressed and when it is on its peak, not much of itching though. Approximate cycle would be I think around 7-10 days. Thanks for your time!!

Often, what we perceive as start of our sleep and when we actually fall asleep are different times. In order to better understand this phenomenon, I'd suggest you montior your sleep pattern with a smart watch or ring to find out what your sleep cycle is like. If you notice that you are seeing a lot more REM sleep, which is where most of the dreams occurs, than deep sleep, this may be due to some underlying stress or anxiety and addressing that will help reset your sleep cycles.
If there are no obvious psychological causes, you can then set up an appointment with a pulmanologist for a sleep study evaluation to rule out any physiological or pathological reasons.
Hope this helps.
In my humble opinion:
The Mind(and your body) cures and heals 90% of ailment, rest 10 % are cured by the medicines!
Control your Mind.
