There was no other thread running and this was the most relevant, so i thought i would start the discussion here. But i guess now we can move it to another thread..will the mods be so kind to take care of that?

My younger son a speech problem, he hardly says a word at 2.5 years. After getting thoroughly disappointed with local facilities, we have planned to seek further help in Bangalore. If we were still living in Bangalore, we could have got high quality help almost a year back. Now we will have to visit Bangalore regularly for this and it is going to be a logistics nightmare for my family.
Being close to Manipal i thought you would be going there???

It being a teaching college, all the assessment, questioning, therapy was handled by very young students. After a few sessions, we lost all confidence. No point going into details. Now we have approached a specialist center in Bangalore.

I am giving you deatils of the degrees which are Recognized by Medical Council of India,in respect to urology.
Urosurgeon=M.B.B.S. + M.S.(General Surgery)+ M.Ch /D.N.B.(Urology)

Nephrologist=M.B.B.S. + M.D.(General Medicine) + D.M./D.N.B.(Urologist)

A nephrologist deals with Diseases of kidney as an excreatory system which are ameanable to medical treatment by prescribing drugs.

An urosurgeon deals with all the diseases of total urogenital system including diseases of kidney,bladder,ureters,prostate,penis,testis(exclu ding female getal system-A gynaecologist deals with that along with opinion from an urosurgeon if needed) which requires any sort of Surgical intervention.

Yes,generally urologist=urosurgeon.
Obviously,Nephrolithiasis (kidney stone) is a surgical condition to be dealt by either an General Surgeon or an Urosurgeon.You can ask me your questions-its better to start a new thread on the matter to get specific in topic answers/disscussions-so,please open a new thread on urologic problems and I will answer whenever my time permits.I think there is another Urologist in Team-BHP (I forgot his user id and also lost a thread in which one was asking about some complication that has arised to his mother).

Thanks @ CaliAtenza

That would be good.

One can never tell when a side-line remark in a thread might be a de-railer.

I have de-railed many, many threads, in many forums! <Blush>

For Nephrologist the degree path can also be
MBBS+MD(Medicine)+DM(Nephrology)

This sort of thing is truly mindboggling.
Please say me the full form of Physio-Physiotherapy or Physical medicine or Physiology?

Its nice idea to start,but as a Departmental Head,Department of General Surgery of a Govt. Medical college,I will say,it is just a luxary to spend money for such project.If some person/NGO has to spend money,please contribute to any Medical college for the poor Thallasemic childs or those with cancers.
Yes,I also get irritated,when I see a poor mother is crying for that reason they could not bear the cost of desferrioxamine for a thallasemic child any more,simply,because(many will not beleive) she has only Rs.10 for that day as their total savings upto that date,at the same time,some patient party (better economic condition) is demanding to get good treatment by purchasing costly drugs (it is very difficult to nail in to ones brain that costly medicine does not mean the best available medicine-it is not like engine oil or something like that).
I really love my poor hospital patients,because,they do what I advice,dont hesitate about it-because,they beleive,I or others from my unit is doing the level best for their treatment,also the return of love I get them from just speaking softly with them is much much precious to me than doing the surgery for a megalomaniac rich's remonaration outside who thinks that health is a product,and he can get good product by paying much more and from the best showroom.
But,beating or physical abuse is other things-it is not prevalent in the medical colleges of West Bengal,at least,I have not seen.
And unfortunately,this patient doctor relationship gap will be more and more and finally,the health will cost you so much that you have to go for expensive health insurances like US.

Are you sure? I know kids who didn't speak a word will 3+ and one fine day blurted out in front of the guests something his unsuspecting dad spoke long time back.

While it's good to get early diagnosis, I wouldn't expose him to therapy or any psychological game until it's certain that he needs it.

After wisdom tooth extraction,I am having some unpleasant odor in my mouth.Its something like rotten egg smell.whenever i inhale i can smell and this odor stays inside my mouth and it does not impact others while speaking :-)

I have no pain and doctor prescribed antibiotics got over in first 2 days.

Quick research in google suggests hydrogen peroxide rinsing as the solution.

Need your expert advice.Please

LOL, didn't mean to.

I was only thinking of ill effects of an unnecessary therapy.

It's basically caused due to plaque buildup and possibly stagnated food in the empty tooth socket since you are not brushing on the operated site (and are not to brush till stitches are out). Wasn't any mouthwash prescribed to you?

An ideal antibiotic course should have lasted you atleast 5 days. What was prescribed to you?

DONT use hydrogen peroxide as yet.

If i get it right, it's been four days now since your extraction.

Start rinsing with betadine mouthwash diluted 1:2 with water (one part betadine and 2 parts water) after every meal and before bedtime. Don't worry if you spill this dark solution on your clothes, it's water soluble.
