Hahaha... Lol

He was not talking about the female monthly periods, rather the frequency/duration of episodes (i.e. periods) of belching.

Should have read the full post, the last paragraph gives the clue that ma'am has hit menopause.

EDIT:- To be honest I was also confused and thinking the same when I first read the first 7 words of that sentence.

Long post, bear with me and read through. One reason for her problem could be the following.

Fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach, NOT after eating other regular food like rice, wheat, lentils, grain, cereals, vegetables, etc.

The reason is that fruit is not digested (it does not need to be), so the stomach passes it on the the intestines for absorption. Food, on the other hand, needs to be digested in the stomach before it can be passed on to the intestines for absorption.

If fruit is eaten after food, the fruit wants to pass through, but cannot because the food is blocking the way. Since fruits do not need to be digested but forcibly is, it starts to decompose. This results in a lot of gas buildup which has to come out at one end or the other. This decomposing matter is also bad for the stomach and intestines.

In India, people think fruits should always be eaten after food, a huge fallacy.

If your wife is doing this, stop! Switch to eating the fruits first, wait for a half hour, then food (vegetables in her case) and see if there is improvement in a few days.

You should have read to the end

Oh, something I typed above made me think... She is 59 (younger than me!) and the stresses of menopause are supposedly in the past, but some of my older ladyfriends have told me that it can continue to do weird things for many, many years.

but I see others are ahead of me. Now I have to read back and collate the advice so far, and pass it on. Thanks for the contributions

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

I have a deviated nasal septum which blocks almost 70% to 80% of my left nostril. I don't have any problem breathing during the day or night.
At night I have to breath through my mouth at times, this could be because of 2 reasons:
1) I sleep belly down so may be the air intake is less as my lungs can't expand as much as when I don't sleep on my belly. But can't give up this habit as I end up being awake all night if I don't sleep on my belly or even if I get sleep it is not very sound sleep and don't feel fresh when I wake up in the morning.
2) May be due to deviated nasal septum.
However the problem is I snore at times, as per my wife it is not on all night or throughout the night but when I snore its quite loud.
I want to get this rectified, please suggest a good doctor in Bengaluru or if I can visit any of the team-bhp member/doctors on this thread (in Bengaluru) and if I will have to undergo a surgery to get the deviation fixed or if there is any other remedy.

Doctor friends, request your advice for a good neurosurgeon in India for my below problem. I was diagnosed with pituitary tumor 3 years back and got operated at apollo, bangalore. But, there was still some residual tumor and was suggested by the surgeon to go for another round of surgery. somehow, i was scared to go through this considering emotional trauma to my parents, sisters and now wife. but, now, i would like to consult some good surgeon and if required, go for surgery to get rid of this. any pointers to a good neurosurgeon anywhere in India would be appreciated as I don't mind travelling for a week or 10 days to get this treated.

Not sure whether you have consulted with Dr. Chandramouli at Vikram Hospital.

After eating a really spicy meal with lot of garam masala, a friend has got swollen inside of the mouth, and has trouble eating any kind of spice. She is recovering slowly (been a few days since the meal), but is there any thing she should take/apply on the inside of mouth?

I have not yet. I had consulted Dr. K.N.Krishna from Apollo who had performed my previous surgery. But, I'm hesitant to go back considering my previous experience. I will consult Dr. Chandramouli and thank you for your suggestion.

In India, people think fruits should always be eaten after food, a huge fallacy.
Any solid food entering stomach is churned into a semiliquid form called chyme before being pushed into intestine. Stomach does not differentiate between fruit, vegetable or cereal. Anything solid will be battered into chyme.
Besides the gastric emptying time is around 6 hrs. In that time food wouldnt decompose, particularly in the stomach which generally does not have any bacteria to decompose food.
So enjoy your fruit whether before, with or after food!

You are looking for a knee specialist or a knee replacement surgeon?

For replacement, you can see Dr S. K. S. Marya at Max Hospital, Saket. If its concerning any ligamentous injury to knee, you can meet Dr Bakshi, I guess in Green Park.
