I keep changing as per convenience. This particular barber shop is inside our residential colony, so extremely convenient. Thanks for the tip on electric trimmer.

Update: We visited Dr Ravi Sauhta at his clinic

Krishna Speciality Clinic, 101-D, Supermart-II, DLF City Phase IV, Gurgaon,

Looks like he was able to identify the root cause of the pain and the medication is helping (no painkillers).

My mom had a root canal done recently of one of back teeth. After the root canal was done, she refused to have a permanent crown fitted. I am trying to convince her to do so. But what are the problems if she doesn't agree?

I a patient, had root canal done in early 2000. I never got a crown, and the tooth had cement plus silver on top only. As there was no crown, first the cement came out in like 5 years, and later two of four developed structural damages and had to be removed.

Dr. Surya Prakash is good for vertigo, says my friend who is working in MS Ramaiah. You can see him at Ramaiah or Silverline at Kalyan Nagar. Hope this helps.

What do you mean 'two of four'? Did you do root canal treatment on 4 teeth and put a crown for those 4?

Hi, my 4 teeth got root canal procedure done. No crown was fitted on any, hence they suffered structure damage in long term.

Root canal treatment, basically means removing the infected nerve and blood supply to the tooth and later filling certain materials, so as to maintain the function of the teeth for eating.

Now the vital tooth becomes non vital i.e alive tooth becomes essentially dead. Therefore, the root canal treated tooth which is now dead eventually becomes brittle over the course of time and causes fracture, or structural damage as Ritz 3654 mentioned.

To avoid fracture and structural damage a crown is placed on the tooth.

Ask your mother to get the crowns made asap.

She will ultimately lose the tooth. It happened to me as well, although it survived a good 15-16 years. Maybe that was because I got the root canal done even before my teenage.

Adulterated Drugs?

My wife gets migraine headache about 3-4 times a month. Our family doctor recommended 2 tablets - Stemetil and Naxdom. One to be taken immediately and then another after 30 mins.

Now my sister from USA was visited us about 2 weeks back and suggested that she take 2 ibuprofen tablets as they are better. For the first time ever, my wife's migraine was cured within an hour of taking those tablets. Even with stemetil and naxdom she had to ultimately sleep to actually get rid of the headache.

This got me thinking and I went to the doctor and asked what's so special about those ibuprofen tablets and why shouldn't she take the same instead of stemetil and naxdom. The doctor said that the 200mg ibuprofen tablet that my sister was carrying (she visisted him earlier so that doctor had a look at those tablets) was way better than the 400mg tablet available in India.

He said that if I could get my hands on those ibuprofen tablets then its better than any other drug for migraine.

I wanted to check with the doctors in the house, are drugs really that adulterated in India? Lastly, though my sister left me a 200 tablet box is there a way to get those in India through any channel and is that perfectly legal?

Call at your local medical shop?

I have not taken it for a while, but I have Brufen 200 in my medicines box, obtained very simply, legally, and easily from local pharmacy.

I do not know its status here, but it is an OTC medicine in UK.

Ibuprofen is very much available. What my doctor told me was that what a 200mg ibuprofen does (the one my sister was carrying from US) shouldn't be expected from the 400mg ibuprofen commonly available with the chemists in India.

It didn't make sense as the salts are expected to the same throughout the world so I thought let me get a second opinion here as well.
