Fatty liver is a 'finding' and not a diagnosis by itself. Reversibility, cirrhosis all depends on the underlying diagnosis. If it is just obesity associated, it should be reversible.

Though not sure of this, my Late Grandfather had fatty liver shown during every scan. But the doctors told it is not a risk unless you were going overboard with food and alcohol. He was diagnosed with Cirrhosis at the age of 77. Since he was diabetic, it was difficult to manage and it progressed to Jaundice due to which he passed away last August. From what I have learned from a few casual discussions with the doctors, fatty liver is not reversible but the liver can retain its normal function. In my grandads case the liver regeneration led to a tumour like object(which we did not want to touch) which led to a lot of complications like bleeding from food pipe and so on.

Any corrections are welcome since even none of us in the family knew what actually happened in his case and what was the cause - Since my grandad was non alcoholic. We just know the timeline of events.

I don't know, what point it turns towards cirrhosis from non-alcoholic fatty liver. May be just 'chronic diabetes' and consequent medicines also contribute towards degeneration of liver and lead to cirrhosis.

Hello there, Modern days digital programming hearing aids can help you with your problem regarding being able to listen to music i.e. a wide range of frequencies. It would be great if you could post your PTA graphs and Impedence graphs so that we can have an idea of the quantity and quality of your hearing loss. If your loss is not much or involves limited frequencies even a CIC or IIC type from a reputed brand could be wonders.

Similar problem here. I have had tinnitus since high school days. Audiogram taken twenty years back looked like a hill. I had purchased a hearing aid that time. I have a big problem with noise, apart from deficiency in hearing. With background noise I can't differentiate speech from noise. Moreover loud noise gives me fatigue. That hearing aid amplified everything, including background noise. So it was useless for me, and a waste of lot of money.

Now I want to try out this digital 3 channel, 5 channel etc hearing aids but am afraid it may be another waste of money, considering a 5 channel cost close to a lakh. Will it be useful for me? What points should i considering while evaluating a digital hearing aid?

Hello Guite, you could visit a reputed hearing clinic which provide trials of hearing aids for a month on nominal fees. This way you dont have to buy it if it doesn't work out for you. Ask for a trial for a month and see if the 5 channel is worth it for you.

I am looking for a good GP in R.T.Nagar, Bangalore. We have visited a couple of GPs, but they have not provided the confidence in their treatment. Overdosing seems to be a key problem even for a minor infection. I would prefer someone with a lot of experience and who comes from the old school of thought of less medicines and more self help routines. Do let me know

Some of the Oral-B handsets are very expensive! Dentists have confirmed to me that using an electric toothbrush is indeed more effective than the traditional kind, and it certainly feels that way to me.

I have been using Oral-B for decades, but the price of the heads is horrendous. I increase the economy by using them for much longer than the manufacturers want me to. Like many best-before dates on food products, all the Oral-B colour coding and stuff is partly a ploy to get us to spend more.

have seen only Philips-Sonic, Oral-B and Panasonic in the marketplace
- Philips-Sonic is the leader with the Sonic technologywith, has a fantastic lineup and superb global reviews but also expensive
- Oral-b has only 1 model, is cheap to buy, but heads availability is an issue, also the effectiveness compared to Sonic technology is lesser
- Panasonic costs around 1200/- but it seems that the heads are not replaceable, and you need to buy a new unit every few months

I bought a couple of these a week ago -> BrushBuddies Smart Care Sonic Power Tooth Brush. One of the toothbrushes was DoA and so they are sending a replacement. Based on my usage, it does what it is supposed to do and I am happy with the results. However since I haven't used any other electric toothbrush I have no way of comparing. This is a no-frills toothbrush which uses (sonic) vibrations for cleaning. Inserting the battery was a headache. Replacement heads are available.

BrushBuddies is a California-based company which sells in the US though the product is made in China. One good thing about their product is that you get it for roughly the same price as the US, which is saying a lot as most of the other electric toothbrushes cost many times their US price in India.

I went through a bunch of reviews of Oral B and Philips, but none of them gave me any confidence, so I eventually ended up plonking my money on something which doesn't cost a bomb.
