All these are little above the reference range.

Anything to worry? Please advise.
Although i am not doctor, but these values suggest either an infection or acture allergy.

Do you have any other symptoms. Do you take any medicines? How is your health otherwise (apart from cough and sore throat) - energy levels, appetite, mood etc. ?

No medicines. No health issues, also.

Energy levels are ok. Appetite is good. Mood am off and on.

I was put through another course of antibiotics(different to earlier one) and so far so good. I am holding up. After this i traveled abroad and am drinking warm water, always. Hopefully, can keep this sore throat away.

Thank You!

Guys,

Sorry to jump inbetween. I feel some would be able to answer my query.

I have peculiar problem, which started some 2.5 years ago. From childhood I had a septum deviation which used to be a problem as a kid. But never ever as big as now, I am close to 40 now.

Now most of the time I feel my nose is blocked and if I have cold drinks then the next day is hell. I was diagnosed with Allergic Rhinnitis, treated, got well, again caught with same symptoms, treated, got well, again the same.

Is operation the only way out?? I understand that operation is not the permanent solution. What alternative do I have.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hi guys, need some help with with my dad's blood sugar situation.

Here are his details:

1. Age: 60
2. Blood Sugar levels: fasting within 160, max 180 after food.
3. No cholesterol
4. Blood Pressure 80/140.

These are the medicines prescribed by the doctor, which I feel is a bit too much. I wanted to reduce some of them. Can any doctors here please read the names and list it? Also what I can drop?

So what can I add/remove from this list? Isn't 4 meds just for diabetes a bit too much?

For you and me, 4 tabs just for sugar looks high. May be a diabetologist can answer that.

Expert advise needed. My father's MRI report reads lumbar discs posterior bulgings and ligamentum flava hypertrophic with neural compromise. One of his legs is numb and he can't control it. His hands shake as well. He will arrive in Delhi this evening. We want to approach a specialist immediately without losing time. Should we be consulting an orthopaedic or neurology specialist?

Other than diabetes medicine, that list also has a statin (for cholesterol) & an ARB (for hypertension) & ALA (anti-oxidant/supplement). You shouldn't add/remove anything without consulting a doctor.

You need to consult both. Orthopaedic surgeon for lumbar disc problem and a neurologist for the shaking hands. Lumbar disc looks like an emergency and must be treated on priority.

Thanks for the response. We consulted a neurologist on that evening, who from symptomatic assessment recommended immediate brain MRI. Abscess was detected. Surgery done on next day (Wednesday). Biopsy revealed nocardia infection.

Good news for all persons who may have to purchase stents for their heart problems, Government has sharply reduced the cost of stents by almost 85%. A great move by the government.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Any endodontists out here?

Ohh boy i really need help and am fed up of the painful repeat procedures.
I have rct done on my front teeth, which has been repeated about six months back, after doing the rct, we took an xray and the doc wasn't too happy with the results so he repeated them.

Now out of two,one tooth right from start has always been trouble free, but the other one has been bothersome and is sensitive to tap,i have a xray taken a few days back and i want to know for very sure if its done proper or not before i go ahead and cap them.

Another query that i have is if i cap them and if the procedure needs to be repeated can the root canal be done or i lose the cap and the tooth?I am in public relations and yes my teeth do bother me from their appearance. I know of my father who had his tooth plucked out when the doc was trying to remove the cap, hence the question.

in short i have done three rct for the same teeth.
I do not mind posting the xray here but how do i upload the clear picture, scanning just gives a black image.

You probably have a fractured tooth. Micro fractures usually can't be diagnosed on a radiograph.

You can do a re root canal through the back of the cap (though not recommended)

Caps are never removed by pulling out. You need to cut through the cap.

Hi, Septal deviation can be corrected with surgery, but allergic rhinitis is a lost cause (as of now in terms of complete cure). It can only be controlled to an extend, never completely cured. Septoplasty is a relatively complication free surgery which removes the deviated cartilage alone. If your symptoms were purely due to the deviated septum, the surgery would have been a great relief for you. The primary step in treatment for allergic rhinitis is to avoid the allergen, if it can be identified. I do not know about Bengaluru but Christian Medical College, Vellore has the Specialists/Know-how for diagnosing the allergen involved. Please confirm. Nasal Corticosteroid sprays are the drugs used in keeping the allergy under control. Surgery does not take care of allergic rhinitis like a septoplasty works for a deviated septum.
Immunotherapy is the more recent method of sensitizing the nasal mucosa, in a select group of patients.
