Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Folks, has anyone heard/used a portable ECG monitor. I came across an Indian company which developed one called "Sanket" (http://agatsa.com/product/sanketlife...d-ecg-monitor/) costing INR 12K

There is also one from a US company called "AliveCor" (https://www.apollopharmacy.in/alivec...obile-ecg.html) costing INR 7K

Would be great if we could get feedback about them from fellow BHPians!

If it was obviously wrong to a layman's eyes, we'd probably be in hospital already?

Off let, I experience shivering in my knees, especially the left one when I am driving and have to use clutch repeatedly in B2B traffic. What am I looking at here? all these started about a month back after I had a bad bout of cold which lasted for over a week.

I do walk in the morning regularly and I experience some pain in the left knee after a while. the pain isn't substantial but it is niggling.

Do you feel a stiffness in the knee when you get up from the bed? And does it relieve in a few minutes?
If yes, then it could be associated with the cold.

If not, they are most likely unrelated and you should get a consultation and examined by an Orthopedician. And also what is your age?

Then it is mostly likely just a localized problem. Consult an ortho specialist for the best therapy. Till then, just do the usual with application of warm compresses and or Volini Gel over the area.

I usually buy Colgate or oral b make available from Amazon. I believe they cost 75 and 150 respectively. Alternately one can also use a water flosser like waterpik which will cost you around 5000-8000 . It uses water pressure to clean between your teeth. I use both a string floss and a water flosser.

Hello Doc´s, need some guidance here.

A couple of days back I experienced a sudden head ache coupled with a pulsating light headed feeling. I was also quite thirsty, started feeling weak and had a fruity\salty taste for no good reason. My vision also started to blur despite wearing my glasses. Urination increased but that may be due to my increased water intake. This was in the afternoon while I was reading an eBook, roughly 5 or so hours after breakfast. This has happened to me a few times but the intensity was quite strong of the headache and the weakness, also the strong fruity sour taste in my mouth was quite overwhelming.

I am aware of this taste as I had tried keto diets a few years back so I thought for some reason my body just started producing ketones and hence I decided to eat a large meal. Things were back to normal in the evening but I am a little worried if this is an early sign of diabetes, which would be quite shocking for me as I am 20YO who regularly exercises and eats healthy. Another chronic problem I am facing is knee pains, which appear and go randomly, earlier thought it was because of squats at gym but took a month long break and the knee gets worse or better for no reason, though that might be because my feet are completely flat.

Another peculiar thing I have noticed is a sizable increase in hair fall since a week, I have shoulder length hair so the increase in hair fall was immediately noticeable.
Usually I would go to a doctor but I am not in India and here doctor´s are on a vacation so most hospitals only cater to emergencies.

The situation that you told with sudden headache and blurring of vision is definitely an emergency and you should get a consult from a doctor in person. Any Emergency would definitely take a look at you and also check your blood sugars/electrolytes at least if you request it. But since you wear glasses, the first thing to check should be the number of the glasses. Since you are 20 years, the eye is still growing and the number is definitely still changing. Get your eyes checked first before looking for a more ominous diagnosis.

Your knee pains could be easily due to the flat foot, would suggest you to look at more supportive footwear if you have a choice. It could also be due to any gain in weight, do check it up once since we fail to notice it many a times. Hairfall could be simply a symptom of acute stress that your body is experiencing, or it could even be harmless. Correcting the underlying abnormality(if any) would further guide us.

Since there have been so similar symptoms again, that is a good sign. Don't visit an emergency now, but get a regular consultation and tests if possible. If you feel any of the symptoms again, do visit an emergency.

Appreciate the thorough reply. I had got my vission tests done a month back in India due to this frequent blurry vission that comes on and off, there is no change in my glasses number.
As for weight, I have lost over 12kg´s over a year, from 100kg to 87 or so but that was because I stopped lifting weights as often. I am 6´6 so I am quite lean, even underweight according to my punjabi grandma .
What tests would you feel would be appropriate? If the tests cost too much here, might as well fly back to Delhi and get it done there.

Haemogram and complete blood cell count, Blood sugar (Random and post parandial) and a blood pressure measurement. Note that these won't be very helpful (especially the sugar) if done when you have nearly no symptoms.

Btw, even the dramatic weight loss can also cause such pains(since it causes loss of supporting fat at a lot of places), but 1 year is a long enough time. Oh and 87kg is a little on the higher side. I'm a 21 year old punjabi too

Thanks, will see how to get these tests done. Hopefully no type 1 to deal with.

This statement attracted me very strongly to spell out my experiences and issues. I was around 90 KGs an year back. I started doing 1 hour walk every day and dieting of very limited food also became very religious since i was identified with diabetes.

I am now 72 kgs. While I feel very active now after losing weight, I have started getting lower back pain + cannot sit for a long time (Pain starts in buttock if I seat more than 1 hour continuously). Also, If I sleep on my left OR right during night, by morning, My shoulder will have heavy pain (Because probably, the shoulder muscles are not able to take the weight of body)

I showed to Orthopedics /physicians and they said, it is just muscles spasms. They tested everything related to slip disc, but nothing was identified.

Request doctors to suggest by reading above symptoms.

Just to move forward, recently, I met one of my High school mates (He is a Immunology specialist in UK) and he said, it could be due to vitamins loss and micro nutrient loss.

He suggested Vitamin D 1000 mg (D Rise 1000) per day and for 4 weeks. Also, he suggested zinc + Selenium (Zincovit) which are good for muscles.

Have been taking this since last 2 weeks and hoping to see some improvement in coming 4-5 weeks

Also, Request doctors here to suggest If I am going in right direction? If not, please suggest right steps.
