Dear BHPian's

What started off as saving a "souvenir" of an international trip has now culminated a collection for me.

I am not ashamed to claim that I have also been hoarding on some coins and Bank notes for the past some years.

Dear MODS : If there are similar like minded people in this forum or serious hobbiysts or even numismatics This can be a place for discussions.

Can we start a new thread on this subject.

I have a collection if one could call it that stashed away somewhere.. Have to check where it is. I was into Numismatics and Philately a long long time back. Those were the days when TV had nothing but doordarshan and there were no comps.

Do kids still collect these nowadays? Most want a comp/PSP or a Nintendo....

I certainly did. Started off quite innocently with loose change my father would give me from his trips abroad.

where can we find out the value of these currencies/coins? i have a HUGE stash i want to sell. can i auction it online?

I started collecting stamps, coins and currencies as a hobby while I was in my school. Great that we now have a dedicated thread.

I still have my coin and stamp collection kept in tact. I still collect coins as and when i get , but not as aggressive as i was before. Good to see this thread here, will subscribe for sure.
For stamps,only Indian stamps these days, that too when i get a marriage invitation or a new year card.

i was an ardent collector of stamps & coins / currency till my college days ,now have given up and still have some stuff left with me ,lost some them while shifting between cities. Gave away my entire collection of stamps in '96.

I have some very old coins dating to 1832 / 35 issued by East India company , Coins of Brasil , East Germany , Yugoslavia , Czech republic dating 1940 - 55.

Trying to get my daughter interested in this hobby.

I used to collect and exchange stamps during school days. During my college days i started pursuing a rather different one though! I look for unique serial numbers in the currency notes. I have quite a collection now and been waiting to get my hands on a note with serial number like 123456.

Each time i handover a note to someone i ensure to glance the serial number to make sure it doesn't make any sense such as combination of a date (15.08.47), etc. Now my mom and wife also are bitten by this bug !
