A poor thief

As most of you people know i'm using an aftermarket silencer on my Karizma, and the OE pipe is kept in the garage at home. So last week my OE pipe was stolen from my home. The pipe was worth 6grands new and prolly more than 2k in the gujli. Even though it was a loss i didn't bother to register a complaint at the police station due to the perceived hassles associated with it, and anyways i wasn't using the pipe so it was okay.

Then a week passed by and yesterday while i was at my office i got a phone call from my dad. He told me that a local has told him that the silencer was at the Museum Police station and that if we want it we can go and collect it. When i reached home i told my dad to let it pass, as we will have to answer questions like, who told you?, and from where did that person get the information?, why dint you register a complaint? etc etc..

So yesterday night at around 9 we heard someone yelling at our gates "saar..saar...saaaraee..." I and dad go out and ask him what's the matter. Believe it or not, he told my dad that "saarae, it's me who took your silencer"!!! Lol... i almost laugh and at the same time try to keep a straight angry face...lol. Dad ask him why did he take it and for it he replies that saarae i thought it was aakri (scrap) dad gets real angry and ask him do you tresspass into the house and pick aakri? For which he says " saarae abadham patti poyi" (saar sorry it was a
mistake) and repeats that many times. He tells us that he dint know it was valuable and the police nabbed him while he was trying to sell it for 75 bucks! He pleads to come and take the silencer from the police station and we told we don't want the silencer. Still the thief wouldn't leave and he says he was kept in lockup for three days (police later confirmed this) and that the police told him to return the silencer if he wants to get away with a lesser penalty etc etc... The guy was not a stranger to my dad as he has seen him in our locality before. Anyways we decided to go and collect it for the sake of the thief, his condition was pathetic.

So today dad and i went to the police station wasted almost half a day and returned home with the silencer. We told the SI the story gave a request in writing and it was returned. They dint ask for any bribe. We also learnt a lot more about our thief from the police

And it's the first time in my life that i'm hearing of the kallan approaching the victim's and asking to come and collect the thondi!

Friday the 13th i got the news!

Saturday the 14th was spent at the police station lol!

That was a very different experience, I must say.

A couple of recent interactions - with the BLR city Corporation people & at a Ford dealership threw up intresting feedback that their response mostly reciprocates our approach.

That is one interesting experience! Certainly a first-time-in-life event for me!

Good that you got the silencer back. And better that you did not have to spend any on getting it back, except for the loss of your time.

DAMN the thief should have had come to me I would have given him 100 bucks instead of 75 for the exhaust

funny experience and good that you got the exhaust back

On a serious note you can sell the exhaust for as much as 3-4K
there are many takers for it

Yep, i appreciate the job done by the cops, thief was released on bail. Glad that the thief was caught. I put the stock silencer on my bike and i'm loving it.
