Just wondering, were any prominent freedom fighters locked up in this jail. Pretty sure it was a busy place during the Independence struggle.

Not sure about Freedom fighters. But I do know that M G Ramachandran was there. Even Karunanidhi was in a few years back.

Is this where Karunanidhi was kept, after he was arrested from his house? I remember seeing the whole drama on Sun TV,with numerous cops lifting him off the ground..

@E_L, Yeah it is. Make sure to early ie 830AM when the gates are open. And if you are with kids, carry lots of water.
