I went to simplilearn.Although they charge about 13k, if you haggle you can get to 10k. The classes are held at karol bagh.

I would say a mere reading of any help book like Andy Crowe's would help you gain more understanding.

BTW, my PMP is scheduled next week. Keeping fingers crossed.

Finally its over successfully today.

After 3 months of gradual preparation and about 5 days of intensive preparation, I am PMP certified.

My strategy:

1. Read PMBOK 5 once and made bullet point notes for all 47 processes.

2. Read PMBOK 5 again keeping the notes as the base reference.

3. Made addition in the notes from Andy Crowe's book - How to Pass PMP in first Try.

4. Practiced all the quantitative problems from PMBOK, Andy Crowe and Head First.

5. Practiced two full length tests from Head First and another online source, which I do not recall.

6. Finally brought down the bullet points to 30 pages in my notes and memorized them.

7. Appeared in the exam here at Dayton and got the Pass printout with all moderately proficient.

Happy and relieved.

My breaks during the preparation was Team-BHP and success stories here.

I am about to complete my Six Sigma green belt project and certification and would now like to go for PMP certification. Just wanted to ask if somebody had taken a similar route, and found it advantageous.

Having gone through the PMP website, it appears to me that a knowledge of leading projects successfully might prove useful in running process improvement projects too.

How does six sigma green belt help in project management? Is it useful.

I am going through six sigma now and can say that PMP gives an overview of processes while six sigma goes detailed for the same processes. For example, brainstorming is mentioned in PMP, six sigma explains how exactly would that be done.

In my opinion, it helps you get the right perspective on those processes, which you find a mere mention of in PMP. But, otherwise, PMP is vastly different and has separate course structure. Hope that helps.

Hey.. never knew that Team-BHP has a thread for PMP (of all things). I cleared PMP last year. PMP is suited for any project, which has a definite scope and goals. So a process improvement excercise, fits the bill. Getting a vision out, defining the scope, and studying of existing process, working on the improvement all becomes very much a project activity by itself. PMP based management may NOT be suited for "operational" projects (in IT parlance these are the maintenance & support projects).

PS: To be quite frank, did not find any major job openings because of that. Off-course you may get some benefit, but it is not a silver-bullet to get your most-liked job :).

Whats the cost of PMP exam? Also in case we flunked the first time, how much do we need to pay for appearing again?

Coming back to the Topic, I am in Bangalore and I am a PRINCE2 Practitioner. Now for my project requirements of an US customer I need to get the PMP done pretty fast (say in 45 days). So wanted to understand among the below training institutes who should I go to for the 35 PDUs and a good training session. Or there might be a very good freelance trainer who generally hops around from one training institute to another, you might want to provide me that name.
