re: Sunglasses you own and wear thread

Lifestyle is offering 20% to 70% discounts in many brands of sunglasses. Is it worth to buy from there? Fossil is one brand which is being offered for 70% discount. Police for 25%, Oakley for 10% and many more.
Planning to get one, but confused on which brand to go for. Wearing it for driving, car and bike.

If you are using it for driving go for the Oakleys.

Kindly verify the prices before you buy, MRP's are often marked up and then discounted. Better still, get the outer cover, in some cases with brands that offer them which have the MRP printed.

Outer cover means cardboard wrap, and not the hard case. If you are confused I will attach a picture.

Cheers

Thanks mate. I am slightly inclined towards the aviator style, is this suitable for driving? Any other brands apart from Oakley you suggest?

Almost every other brand today has an aviator and wayfarer line. Any style is good, most important factor would be the lens and the technology used and the fit and comfort of the frame.

I would suggest you pick up something that is polarized. You are sure bound to lay your find the same. All the best.

Even i was thinking to buy the lens which is polarized. Got one from Turakhia long back, not sure of the brand, which was polarized and i saw the difference in that image posted in the shop. But in reality, no change it was like a dumb tinted lass. So any tips to check if it is really polarized.

^^ I remember Polaroid (the brand) used to have a test for that at their counters around malls in Bangalore. It's an interesting test with comparisons to other sunglasses and the naked eye. There is this fake fish hung inside a box with a glass window and there is light being thrown on it. With the Polaroids on, the glare was eliminated.

I have a pair of Polaroids but they're in tatters. :(

The wall thing is to test polarized lenses. Attached picture. If this is not available, you could test with a normal LCD/LED screen. When you tilt at certain angles the screen will darken.

Please be aware not all polarized lenses will high light all colors and offer color crispness. You need to view in patience and witness it.

Thanks people. Finally it all comes to how we see through those lenses. Ideally how much should we shell out to get a good polarized sunglass. I am against spending more than 2k for a sunglass.

re: Sunglasses you own and wear thread

I always had a liking towards sunglasses. Till now my collection was 1 Fast track my daily use, 1 ray ban aviator next frequently used and then 1 tommy which is useless and I still repent on the decision of buying it. But yesterday I got myself a Oakley (long desired) from a shopping mall in US. I was keen for maui jim but listened to my heart.

You could have tried authorised dealer stores. Most dealers keep clearing out RB's on a regular basis.

Most of the organised retailers will not pass out discounts often. You could have tried reputed single store retailers.

Now would have been a good time as RB has invited some of the best dealers in the country to Goa for new stocks, so most dealers are clearing out AFAIK.

Try next time. All the best.
