I just bought a beater pair for daily abuse - a pretty inexpensive silver-rimmed non-polarized Killer Loop Aviator for a little more than 1.5K. They're a part of the Luxottica group that owns Oakley, RayBan etc. and are supposedly manufactured by Ray Ban in the same factory.

My mind was actually set on a pair of RB 3026 oversized aviators but it turns out RB only makes them in geriatric gold rimmed versions that looked crap.

The two other shades that I've been using exclusively for the past 5 years are a Maui Jim Kahuna and Randolph Engineering Aviators. MJ has the best optics in the world and while they are a bit on the expensive side, they're worth every single penny. RE Aviators are actually used by fighter pilots as part of a standard issue kit.

Can someone please suggest me a trustworthy shop where I can get powered, polarized sunglasses made? I am not looking at snob value, so VFM places (Bandra->South Mumbai) would be preferred.

Try Shopper Stop - They have a pretty good collection of brands - Pols, Rayban, Police, FastTrack etc.

I doubt Shopers Stop sells powered sunglasses. I suggest one should stick to specialized opticians when picking up powered glasses since the stores like SS don't provide or even equipped to provide after sales support.

I have three:
1) Ray-Ban aviator day/night. Rarely used,reserved for special occassions!

2) Ray-Ban aviator green. Daily wear for riding to office and rough use. Got it free with India Today subscription long ago, so feel like "what the hell"!

3) A Fastrack black piece I bought from a Titan store on impulse. It is always kept in the glove box of the car for emergencies,like when I forget my sun glasses at home. I can't go out in to bright sunlight without them, my eyes will begin to water.

My bad, didn't pick the powered part, Shoppers is clearly unlikely to be having them. Will ask around and let you know.

Been through many sunglasses over the years. At the moment, I'm using a pair of Ray-Ban Predators - 3194.

Pramod this creates an optical illusion. You have clicked it by putting it on the glass of your teepoy but since the glass is not visible, it looks as if a giant sunglass is resting on the mosaic floor.

IIRC, starting price for a decent Polaroid costs 7K! I bought Polaroid from beand "Polarodi" instead. paid 3.3K for that.

@Khan75,

how much does RE Aviator costs?
