Re: Trichologists in Hyderabad? As well as other Hair and Scalp Discussions

Hi Bud,
I live in Auckland,New Zealand and I recently returned to India for a months holiday after 6 years.I visited Dr Health and the doctor there gave me the same items that he gave you except that he added one more bottle to the list.Total cost-6500.
I returned from India and have been following the treatment and yes the results are good.I dont have the thick scaly flakes on my scalp which was some sort of fungal infection. The scalp looks clean but I will wait for the winter in Auckland as its january now and its summer here.
I guess my post is late but just thought I'd let you know. The candid tv shampoo worked well.
I believe those 3 small bottles contain tea tree oil(which comes from australia)and thats probably the reason why he charges so much.I have'nt used them yet as candid tv and the internal homeo tablets are doing the trick.
Let me know how it worked for you.My condition did worsen beacuse of bangalore water but you are from there so you would know better.
cheers,
S.E.A.L

Re: Trichologists in Hyderabad? As well as other Hair and Scalp Discussions

Just learnt something today, and I remembered seeing this thread so decided to post it here. Trichology is not really formal medical science. A lot of hair-loss specialists are actually not medical doctors. Please keep this in mind before paying thousands of rupees to a fraudulent person as fees.
I would recommend a dermatologist, and would normally advice people to stay away from trichologists (who according to many docs, are not very different from hair stylers)

P.S. Also, do check the reviews of places like RICHFEEL on the web (mouthshut etc). They are unanimously ridiculed.

Re: Trichologists in Hyderabad? As well as other Hair and Scalp Discussions

I have been using Minoxidil for like 2 years now. Went from 5% to 10% before some months with Fintracide and Biotin tablets once a day.

Trust me, the hair density has increased, hair is much stronger and the front portion along with the middle right had a little scanty hair. The middle scantiness is totally gone and in the front where I had a little scanty hair are slowly but steadily filling up with hair.

No side effects what so ever observed. Initially when you start using Minoxidil there will be hair fall as the old hair will fall and new hair from the roots will start developing which will be dense and strong.

This is a long term treatment and you should not expect results in some months.

Cheers

My hair loss started when I first visited the US in 2009 and continues at breakneck speed unabated and uncontrolled till date. No idea why.

Nice thread! Whats the bottom line? Avoid trichologists?

Samurai's option seems best.

P.S: Will normal skin doctors be of any use? Anyone in Bangalore?

Heres my story dealing with Hair Loss and my little understanding about the whole issue.

A primary hormone responsible for hairloss is DHT. DHT is responsible for sex drive and for shaping male genitalia during puberty. Excess DHT also unfortunately causes hair loss. That is why bald men have a reputation of being virile (Tell your girlfriends about it!!). Now if you pump too much Testosterone hormones in your body, it will simply get synthesised into DHT. DHT is also automatically produced in the body to combat excess Estrogen - the female hormone. But a healthy balanced level of Estrogen is responsible for soft lustrous and thick hair. So you don't want to diminish it too much. Since Estrogen and DHT will see-saw in your body if you try artificial hormone replacement, a common method is to trick the body by supplying it with Estrogen like compounds called phyto-Estrogen (plant source). These phyto-Estrogens bind to the same cellular receptors that absorb Estrogen and the body gets a signal that it has received enough of the hormone. This, I am deducing - keeps the DHT in check. More Estrogen means the body reacts with more DHT. A primary source of artificial estrogen incidentally is bottle water from plastic containers. Does this explain the epidemic of low sperm count and hair loss a large number of men are experiencing in the population today?

The Poster above (Scorpian) probably had most of the testosterone injected into his body convert into DHT.

Western science is going around in circles trying to understand the delicate balance required in an individuals body and most research appear to be clueless about it. Hence the dangerous and risky methods and bad science propagated on the unsuspecting populace like injecting hormones and over prescribing hormone replacement therapy etc that appear to achieve results then result in tumours and cancers decades later in life.

Now armed with this partial knowledge (dangerous I know ) I began searching for ayurvedic pills that might restore a balance or even boost my testosterone a little without elevating DHT (to feel younger). One pill that I found that might reduce DHT is Himplasia. A common ingredient in many male libido enhancing pills in Gokshura or Tribulus Terrestris. It increases LH (leutenizing hormone) and FH that is a precursor to producing testosterone. Unfortunately if you take just any pill with Gokshura, the extra LH will probably synthesise into Testosterone and further into extra DHT. Himplasia promises to reduce DHT and it has Gokshura and phyto-estrogen (shatavari) as an ingridient too.

Took that for last 6 weeks. At first I started imagining that hair was coming back (placebo effect)!! Then in my latest visit to the barber for a haircut I saw large swathes of brown patch visible through my thinning hair everywhere. Sigh! One is supposed to take Himplasia for 3 to 6 months at least for it affect the body, but I'm losing patience with it already and have reduced my intake to one pill once a day while I dilly dally on further course of action. Maybe I should continue for another few weeks to complete 3 months before giving up. I do notice an improvement in mood though, which means I have more free testosterone in my body after taking it.

Caveat: I am no doctor just a seasoned lab rat. Been experimenting on myself for years - the effects of various pills with great success!! I never need a doctor, almost never fall sick with cough colds and know how to treat these kind of niggles by myself without needing consultation. And yeah I am a strictly Ayurveda follower if I ever need medicines.

The saga of my hair battle continues ... will post after 4 weeks if I complete the course.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on this forum to provide free consultations

This is sorta embarrassing but I do need help.

Any dermatologist here? Or know any actually good ones in Delhi? Have heard varied reviews 'bout Dr Batra, so hesitating 'bout them. Am facing excessive hairfall for quite a while now

Hair Raising Tales: The TBHP Hair thread

Yes, now another purist will scoff at me for starting another OT thread. But hey, for many of us TBHP has become larger than just an automotive forum - its T-Life in more ways than one. So let me open a thread just like the weight loss , LASIK, dental etc.

I do have male pattern baldness but its only very limited thinning - its quite like my father, who had a full head of hair, albeit slightly sparse, at the end.
Last year, I began to get occasional folliculitis (baal tod, in Hindi) every 2-3 months. I used to keep scratching it out and since I couldn't see it, I never cared. It used to go away, reappear in other areas, but I didn't care. Till August.

I had one mother of a bleb (thats the term the doc used). It got inflamed and infected. Some bacterial crap. Went through a couple of weeks of oral antibiotics and Fucibet and a coaltar-aspirin shampoo. Then it burst, followed by some more T-bact (IIRC) and some other antibiotics. It left a little 25p sized bald spot behind, where hair is beginning to grow back.

In 3 weeks, this crater has now been filled up by a wart. Now I underwent treatment for the wart for a month + and all that's happened is that a 2nd one has come up (albeit small). Now I'm on Thuja 200 & Phosphorus 200. the other alternative is laser/electric cauterization to remove it (and hope it doesnt spread further). That would cause a very minor permanent bald spot. I am worrying what if the homeopathic treatment fails and it spreads to another 2-3 spots on the head or worse .. face!

Just wanted to hear from others if they have fared in such a situation.

I was also facing issues with Facial Warts, went through laser/electric cauterization to remove it 3-4 times in a year. But it used to re-occur after 3-4 months. During this time i can’t shave my face. Moved to Homeopathy & After changing 2 practitioners Warts are gone. Practitioner prescribed to take ADEL40 drops in water for warts cure.
But the same practitioner wasn’t able to cure my Hair fall issue.
Started using MahaBringraj Tel for time being.

Re: The Trichologist, Hair & Scalp Thread

Guys, I have been having this hair loss issue , accompanied with flakes in scalp and inside the ear lobe. Have tried various dermatologists over the past 2 years, but with no cure. All of them have prescribed Salicylic acid based shampoos( Salisia KT) , terming it as fungal infection. But seriously , I am having doubts..how can a fungal infection continue for so long even after applying medicines. Any help?

Re: The Trichologist, Hair & Scalp Thread

Sorry for bumping this thread after a long time!

I too have been experiencing hair loss and thinning over the last two years as I had been shuttling between Trivandrum , Ernakulam , etc very frequently and the water being bad in most of the places and the constant change in water made my scalp very rich in dandruff. Till a week back I could see dandruff flying off like dust storms if i run my fingers over my hair. It was that bad and constant itching was another worrisome thing. I used to have pretty thick and strong hair but over the last two years, its thinning, its very weak and comes out in one pull. I was afraid to towel my hair and brush my hair after bath due to the heavy loss.

Over the two years I tried various medicines - Hairomax capsules and tablets, Dhatri oil, etc and even restricted my diet to a certain extent. NO RESULTS. Later I consulted an ayurvedic doc and she gave me some oil, a few tablets and diet restrictions. It got better but my lack of sleep and stuff made the progress DEAD. Another oil for Rs. 1000 showed a little improvement but was too time consuming to use it each day and it troubled my sinus. Then I started off with shampoos and conditioners which even worsened the condition. Finally I think I've found a perfect solution to hair loss and dandruff. - Aloe Vera (kattaarvaazha in Malayalam). I'm not talking about Aloe Vera products, but, the Plant itself!!

I used to listen my family friend talking about the leaf of Aloe Vera being good for all these. So when my servant planted it in our house (its a tropical succulent plant BTW) i tried experimenting it after checking it online. The leaf has a jelly like transparent substance withing it and that is what is used. I rubbed the gel on my scalp thrice this week before bath (make sure your scalp is sorta clean) and simply washed it off. Right now, my dandruff is nearly 90% gone! I couldn't believe it myself actually. My hair is stronger and I see very little or no hair while i towel or comb my hair (25 strands to 5 presently). I used to try pulling my hair often worrying about the loss and when i do it now, I get one or two hairs after around 10 to 12 trials where as earlier each and every pull uprooted my hair.

The procedure is simple and is found in youtube with proper explanations. You can have it in your house or apartment even and is available in plenty everywhere.

Here is a link:

Note that the aloe shown in the video differs a little from the Indian Aloe but all kinds of Aloes differ little and share these properties. Rubbing the gel in a more gentle manner than what is shown would be helpful. For men, its easier to use this if you have a short hair. And when you cut a leaf, you might find a yellow sticky substance dripping. Wash and get rid of it. Its sticky and is hard to remove.

I'm keeping a constant check on whether any new strands are appearing.

Hope this is helpful. I going to continue using this for some more weeks and I'l update about the results.

Cheers!

Re: The Trichologist, Hair & Scalp Thread

Guys,

I am using the LOREAL Fall Repair 3X treatment( Shampoo, Conditioner and the Leave-In Tonic), i believe it has almost stopped my hair loss after using them for two months. Now i see very less hair in my Towels when i wipe my head. It claims to have Arginine which controls hair fall. Does anyone else have any positive response?

In my school days when i used to have lots of harifall, i went for Foltene Treatment. After taht i only had hair fall during my exams or when i was stressed out. If i feel LOREAL treatment is not working, i plan to go for Foltene.

I have been having dandruff for a few years now and lost a lot of hair because of it. One doctor recommended Ketacanazole 2% shampoo and I used it for a year (twice a week) but it hasn't really helped much. Is there anything else which can help?

@carboy-Try Candid TV shampoo and Himalaya Anti dandruf shampoo on alternate days. Candid TV you can get it from any medical store (cost about 125 for 100 ml). It has weired smell even after hours of wash. Wear a good perfume to cover it.
