The Expendables :

Not much in the way of a story. Fantastic action sequences though. Recommended one time watch.

3/5 , out which 2.5 goes to the fast paced action.

Money Never Sleeps makes it to the theaters. Even if its 50% of what the original Wall Street was, it'll still get a 5/5 rating from me.

Went to see Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps last night for the preview show and was surprised to see 60% of the theatre empty. And the first 10minutes of the movie gave the answer.

The movie is set around July -Sep 2008 period and takes cue from the collapse of the Lehman brothers and the ensuing stock market bubble. It focusses of how the easy credit markets and the greed of the I-Bankers had made even the common man highly leveraged thereby leading to the corruption and then the ultimate demise of the whole financial system. The movie has very high content of financial terms and if one is not well versed with the way the money markets work, it may be hard for them to fathom the movie. The film does seem to drag towards the end of 1st half but picks again in the middle of 2nd half.

A well made movie but certain sections do lack credibility, especially where Gordon Gekko takes $100M seed capital and builds it upto $1.1B in about 2-3 months. If something like that was possible, then every hedge fund manager will be a billionaire by now.

Overall 4/5 for the true depiction of how the stock market bubble affected various lives.

@Milecruncher, no mention of acting?

How did MD act and more importantly Shia Le Bouf ( that's his name..right?)

P.S: Today " Vertigo" makes it to the theatre. Anybody going?

Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in this edition isn't as eclectic and eccentric as he was in the first edition. Shia LeBouf is ok, nothing great or bad either. He just goes about doing his job.

Wall Street 2 : Money Never Sleeps

O M G

Finally, the film that i have been waiting for ever since the production was announced.

Oh well, as soon as i get time i am going to see it.

I just hope its not a let down and Gordon Gekko has lost his mojo or something.

Even before seeing it, i can tell that it is going to pale in comparison to the original, which happens to capture the true essence of Gordon Gekko and the things we love about him.

Then again, it is GG...and he is one hell of a badass

Some of them are pretty good. Most of the times, i don't read reviews of the movies. Especially the thrillers/crime kind. Its important to maintain the secretary. I just go by my instinct and it works many times.

I also see the list of movies members review here and watch them if i haven't.

Out of the top 250 IMBD movies, I've completed more than 175.

And still going strong!

I also follow ROTTEN TOMATOES: Movies - New Movie Reviews and Previews! equally.

Rendition: Imdb rating is 8/10

Good movie on torture techniques used to get stuff out from people in beirut. Good acting and the torture chambers are pretty violently depicted. Very good watch

4/5

Recently watched the Bourne Series again. This time after reading the "Robert Ludlum" original novels. I liked the one's directed by "Paul Greengrass" more than the first one in the series. The music by John Powell is good too. Matt Damon does a wonderful job as Bourne.

Absolutely. I read the first novel way way back and was so impressed that i re-read a few times again. Never knew a movie would be made from it and would become equally successful. I agree these series are closest to book characterisation.

Matt Damon got into the skin of Jason Bourne so much so that i now call him JB instead of MD

P.S: I still feel he would have been a better choice for "Inception" than Leonardo Di Caprio
