North By Northwest is an Alistair Mclean novel, and all the movie adaptation of his many novels are superb.

No - there is no Alastair Mclean book by that name. I think I've read them all - they are gathering dust in my book cupboard.
I agree that most of his movie adaptations were good. Somehow I felt Force 10 From Navarone lacked the explosive intensity of the book though.

Saw Thor yesterday. A good enjoyable movie with some really cool action and CGI. Perhaps better than the first one and certainly a good addition to Marvel's army of superheroes.

Just saw American Psycho. - a Satirical, Psychological thriller starring Christian Bale which was released in 2000.

As expected, very good acting by Bale as a psychotic serial killer and seems like the only one who could've carried off this role. any more words and I'd be giving out the plot (if you haven't seen it i.e.)

In present day, Hitchcock movies have to be watched for screenplay, editing & direction.

Watched Truman. Awesome movie, would rate it's storyline as one of the best of the Hollywood movies I have seen so far.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Thor: The Dark World over the last weekend. 6/10.

Story is so-so. Nothing great. Special effects were not that great either.
Chemistry between Thor & Loki was good though. The end credits special scenes were a total disappointment, however.
Just didn't make sense sitting through all the credits for a lousy scene. They should've made it better.

Waiting for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug now. Only other movie that I wanna watch this year.

Not all that lousy IMO. Gives subtle hints on how two important (or probably three) movies of the marvel universe might shape up.

Red 2

Really really nice.
Red was good in it's own right, what with whole 9 yards meets die hard, but the sequel is something you want to finish in one go.
Bruce Willis, awesome as usual. We share hairstyles, but that's a story for somewhere else .
What you have to watch it for is john malkovich. Brilliant timing all around.
Full 5/5!

Agreed. Thor was quite average at best. Marvel's phase 2 movies after the Avengers have not been up to scratch. Iron Man 3 as let down by too much unnecessary humour. And Thor was just poorly written.

End Credits scene makes sense as they are lining up for Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet Guess two gems are there, now for the others.

Oh its been a long while since I saw Captain Philips. Brilliant acting by Tom Hanks, as usual. Loved the ending.
