+2
I completely agree on the Gone Girl movie. Till the end it was really good. And then it just didn't have the same punch as the rest of the movie. Like the director suddenly lost the script and had to improvise then and there. Or As if some one else took over the mantle of direction.
Same rating as IronH4WK.

Good watch, usually my wife falls asleep during late night movies but this one kept her awake 😃
Deals with the difference in mindset of the scientific community and the spiritual. Has an Indian angle to it too..

Watched Predestination last week. Talk about crazy concepts in time travel movies and this one beats all of them hands down. Phew !! Quite intriguing & the movie kept lingering on my mind for a day or two after... Must watch for people interested in sci-fi n concept driven movies.

The house of last things
These final hours

Both total crap movies. First is a dumb horror movie
Second is about an asteroid strike wiping out life on earth and how people deal with it down under...

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

"The Interview" has been released online. Watched it and it is simply not worth the hype. It is a low-brow comedy, that our "Housefull"s and "No Entry"s kind of Bollywood movies would identify with. After watching it, I am convinced that all those hacking threats and the associated events are just one big marketing coup. Whoever thought of it inside Sony, is going to get a hefty Christmas bonus. The movie itself is crap. By all means, watch it online. Just don't donate money to the local multiplex over it.

Watched Hobbit war of five armies. Excellent conclusion to the great storyline. Graphics and special effects are mind boggling.

I felt it was slow at places. The last 30-40 mins is where all the interest starts building up. Before that, if you haven't already read about the plot, one keeps wondering where is it headed.

Overall, a good one.

Watched Predestination and enjoyed it to the core. The story is fresh and keeps you engaged till the last minute. Excellent performance by lead actors especially Sarah Snook.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Gone Girl over the weekend - 1.5/5
I did not like the movie at all. Giving it a 1.5 rating solely for the performances by the lead actors. The movie is supposed to be a thriller, yet I was hardly ever thrilled. An hour into the movie it was ok ok - but after that it is alll downhill. Can't say more without letting out spoliers!

Lucy - 3.5/5

Nice concept - though very similar to Limitless, and is typical of a Luc Besson Film and didn't disappoint. The ending could have been better.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched the Crappy So called Horror movie "The Babadook".
Extremey gloomy and devoid of any thrills. Avoidable.1/5

Also, watched the Robert De Niro starring Red Lights. Superb movie. 4/5.
Deals with the faith healers and their "ways" of convincing followers.

Next in line:
The Game(1997 film starring Micheal Douglas and Sean Penn).

Gone Girl - 7/10

Liked the movie. The ending was a bit lame though and I was hoping for a different one. But still, nice movie. Would love to say so much more but it will all be spoilers for the movie. But one word - psychopath!

Actually after all the hype I was a bit disappointed. The suspense is not sustained till the end which makes for a painful last quarter. And like you I thought the ending lacked bite. But not bad for some lazy holiday viewing!

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Saw 'The Interview' and on contrary to what people have said about the movie here, I liked it. Maybe because I have read and seen a lot of documentaries about North Korea, Kim Jong Un and his father Kim Jong Il and North Korea is one of my highest to visit places after Syria, I somehow liked it The way Skylark is portrayed, his humor as well as Kim's humor is hilarious in many parts.

Rating 3 out of 5.
