Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Eastwood makes for an amazing director as well. The 2 war movies Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima were kickass! Please watch them if you haven't - if you love war movies, you'll love these.

Morgan Freeman and Samuel L Jackson are two very strong pillars of Hollywood. They just can't go wrong. I loved MF in LUCY and SLJ in Unbreakable.

Id add 'Trouble with the curve' and 'Space cowboys' to that list.
Common theme of an oldtimer(s) trying to make it in a young world.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched following Movies

Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation For me only the first two movies of this franchise really did justice to the name the rest have progressively become more masala. Having said that the latest movie tries to bring back some of the lost touch but only marginally. Good movie for watching stunts & some good performances from a relatively fresh cast. The Plot has too many loopholes but thats not what this frnashie is for anymore.

3/5

Jurassic World

Honestly I had less expectations from this movie as the topic was covered in all possible ways in the previous versions. But I was pleasantly surprised, this is truely the sequel to the Original movie. Predictable yet good story line, nice twists & great effects. No wonder it has become the third Highest grossing film of all time in US & World.

You think?
I was watching this on my Tab and I saw it in a go. It was pretty taut compared to the India and China sojourns. I really enjoyed it. Almost wished I'd seen it in a theatre.

Too Big to Fail (2011)

An HBO documentary on the 2008 financial meltdown. Fast paced, full of interesting behind-the-scene events and an excellent insight into the kind of leadership that went into making some historic decisions.

5/5 is an understatement. Must watch thriller.

Spectre - 3/5

Too long, too dramatized, story starts out well in first half and then literally goes into Bollywood mode in the second half. Most bollywood thrillers would give you the basics of the Spectre movie script.

Worst of all, Christoph Waltz is literally not utlized, except for the only (fantastic) scene that is splashed across the trailers.

Go for the cheapest show you get. Worth a watch, only to get to say you watched the latest bond movie. And of course, to see the last time Craig as James Bond.

Spectre - Disappoints right from the pre-credits action scenes to the heavy dramatic scenes. Expected lot more scenes with Christoph Waltz.

Loved it , thanks for the recommendation. I love business documentaries, but this one is a 'don't miss' even for non-business folk. Top class production.

Watched 'Tucker: The Man and His Dream' on a lazy Sunday. Rating it 4 out of 5. A true story based on Preston Tucker.

Pixels
This is brainless but funny. And sort of nostalgic too.
A tape of a video game championship from 83 is sent to space, and aliens attack on the basis of the tape, with the characters/ games from 80s games.
Adam Sandler starrer, it's funny in bits, and not Sandler class of funny. Good for a bag of chips.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Caught up 'Ant-Man' yesterday, decent start to the tale and possibly another character being added to next Avengers movie.
Didn't find any mention in the thread, its a good watch though.
