War Dogs - 8/10

Good fun, definitely worth a watch if you're into such genre's.

Jonah Hill & Miles Teller deliver a fun film that's enjoyable, though it could definitely be a lot better.

Surprised to see no reviews on this blockbuster.
This made my day - if one doesn't remember even the name of the movie one just saw, it's definitely a terrible movie to watch and review.

Hahahahaha

#facepalm moment but yet true - the movie is really that bad. And unfortunate since it could have easily been a good one.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Few movies I watched recently: I pick only those which has a rating of over 7.0 in IMDB. Rotton Tomatoes/Metacritic ratings comes secondary.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl : One of those movies which makes your eyes moist. Excellent and a touching movie!

The Gift : Loved it! To those who have watched it, we can move over PM to discuss the question which we are left with.

Nightcrawler: A criticality acclaimed movie. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it! Jake Gyllenhaal is something!

Which "The Gift" movie are you referring to? I found 3 movies with the same name (how lame) on Google movie store. One of the movies has Cate Blanchett in lead role and other two have some not-so-famous actors as per the posters.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Two movies from my side:

Sausage party 4/5: One crazy double meaning movie, please leave the kids at home. The director stored the craziness for the end though!

War dogs 3.5/5: Good movie with a good pace. Usual story similar to Lord of war with friends dealing in weapons. All i can say was do not compare it to the Lord of war as that movie was intense! This movie could have been a lot better. One thing i learnt from this is relationships are lost due to really minor things or peanuts.

Our Kind of Traitor
John Le Carre Spy thriller.
Excellent film - in the genre of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Skellan Skarsgaard does a fantastic job as does Ewan MacGregor...

Whisky Tango Foxtrot
Another nice film. Though it is about a news reporter in a war zone, it is quite comic at times and overall a good film.
Tina Fey and Margot Robbie.

Watched both these on a recent flight and they were great for passing the time.

Conviction

True story about sibling love, and how a sister becomes a lawyer only to free her wrongly-convicted brother. Fascinating true story. Rating 4/5.

I never watch cooking shows / movies, but will recommend this movie to all Meryl Streep fans. Gosh, she can act. Mind blowing performance (on par with her role as Margaret). 3/5 to the movie, 5/5 to Meryl!

Anybody here has seen The Killing Joke?
Is that last encounter with the joker what it seems to be?
Wow!

I didn't like it much. Its better to check out some of the older ones if you have not seen them already.

All done and dusted. But this one is pretty much darker. I mean, the comic was sort of did he, didn't he? The movie is more quite sure he did.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Solace 5/5

A fast paced thriller with the cast of Anthony Hopkins, Colin Farrell, Abbie Cornish and Dean Morgan. It is again about a serial killer and the usual FBI procedural type. But the Brazilian director Afonso Poyart has kept the movie taut with unusual kind of story telling - sudden cut shots interspersed with dreamy slow motion.

At the end, it leaves you with a moral dilemma - "Sometimes the greatest acts of Love are the hardest acts to commit."

Mechanic Resurrection - 1.5/5

Oh boy, this was bad. Jason Statham and Jessiaca Alba provided some eye candy and thats all there is to this movie. It lacked everything else.
They seem to have taken a formula out of Indian cinema: action+some skin+masala = a movie!
