Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched two hard hitting movies on a train ride last night.

Eye in the sky:
Good acting with a solid script. Simple storyline but didn't notice how fast time flew.
Questions on modern day warfare...

Marshall:
Supposedly based on true incidents, amazing acting by Chadwick Boseman makes this legal civil rights drama a gripping watch.

Saw Black Panther yesterday. Easily among the best MCU movies till date. Great world building, great villain and finally a superhero movie with some substance behind the fun. Would rate it a perfect 10!

Have to agree with your observations. The villain was so good i ended up rooting for him.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Black Panther yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It is not a typical 'Save the World' kind of superhero movie. The story is very gripping and the action sequences were awesome. Ryan Coogler has also springled some funny moments in the movie. In addition to these, the stunning landscapes and beautiful soundtracks makes the movie complete. I am not a big fan of 3d movies and apart from the depth effect there were not many scenes that utilised 3d effect. Overall it was a fantastic movie from Marvel.

PS: There are two post credit scenes in this movie. Don't miss it.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Black Panther- 4/5

I have been a fan of the character as well as of Chadwick Boseman from the time he appeared in the Civil War movie. Bozeman is quite far removed from the typical loudmouthed world-saving Avengers character that you see in an Ironman or Thor. He brings a very quiet and understated elegance to the character, and on top of that is the first and likely only black superhero in the MCU franchise. His portrayal of the Black Panther has been quite stellar. The character literally appeared out of nowhere in the last movie, and in this dedicated instalment (which he richly deserves), the character really shines. The 3D effects were pretty good, as were the stunning backdrops of Africa. The action sequences too are great, as is the new and improved Black Panther suit!

Definitely worth a watch, and nicely sets up the coming of the magnum opus, Infinity War in a couple of months' time.

Any fans of Donny yen here?
Do catch Chasing the dragon. It's semi biographical so not a lot of his trademark action. But he can act as well.
It's set in the 60s 70s Hong Kong, about the drug trade. Very nice.
5/5

Thanks for the tip. Shall check it out.

Watched Black Panther today. Good stand alone movie and a great start to the BP franchise. Didn't realize how fast my popcorn got over

First post credit scene, definitely worth the small wait but the second one was not worth the long wait. Better read about it

three billboards outside ebbing missouri : 4/5

Absolutely brilliant movie! Starts out with a simple construct in a small town in the south; amazing cast and the script never lets you down. Don't get sidelined by the simplistic construct or the barebone movie name. This is a definite must watch!

15:17 to Paris

About a real life terrorist attack on a train to Paris. The stars in the movie are the actual guys who thwarted the attack in the train in real life and they play the same roles in the movie. The end scene is the actual clip of them receiving the highest medal for bravery from the French government. Directed by Clint Eastwood.

Rated: 3.5/5

If you really want to see the guy unleashed, watch legend of the fist.
Also, flash point.
You know what, just go to wiki and watch everything from just before Shanghai noon or knights, and everything after.

Thanks! Will watch. If you liked Frances McDormand, watch Fargo (1996). Also about a murder in a small town. Fantastic movie.

Fargo is an outstanding film. The Coen brothers have made so many great movies. Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, True Grit. Legends !

If you liked Ebbings, I would also highly recommend In Bruges which is directed by the same director Martin McDonagh. It's very dark, extremely funny and has outstanding performances by Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes.

A scene from the film (warning: profanity)

Dropping a recommendation here for 'Wild'. 5/5 stars. If you like slow dramas that "make you think", this one is for you. It's based on a true story about finding one's self. The story is sheer genius & Reese Witherspoon puts up an admirable performance.

I think you'll like 'Hell or High Water'. Watch it. Another 5/5 movie.

The Greatest Showman - 3/5

Wonderful cast and great performances, though feels a bit superficial at times.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Three movies that i saw last week that i'd recommend:

1. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (Drama/Crime) - 4/5

2. Marrowbone (Drama/Thriller) - 3/5 The climax could've been made better

3. The Autopsy of Jane Doe (Horror) - 3.5/5 Not your regular cliché horror movie.
