2012 -

Here is my review of one of the most anticipated and expensive movies ever to hit our screens.

Movie starts of in India - with Jimy Mistri ( of GURU fame ) as an Indian physicist who greets an American Scientist and shows him all the hanky panky going on inside Mother Earth, also warns him about the Earth Crust moving and emitting gases and therefore causing unrepairable damage.

Scientist goes back to US and warns the president and they have 2 years to sort it out or have some backup. 2 years no one tells the public this is going to happen and they start making HUGE ( and I mean bloody HUGE ) archs where they preserve the species and 400,000 chosen people.

CHINA is shown to be the most powerful country as they Build these Archs. There is even a joke when they see the arch for the first time and the guy says Only Expect CHINA to do this.
The hall errupted saying it would not work since they are Chinese made

John Cussack ( the main guy ) is not linked to the scientists or any technical - he is only the Hero who saves his family.

The effects are MIND BLOWING with cars falling, Cities breaking and Tidal waves gulping down entire states.

But all this said and done - I found the end to be a bit long - they could have shortened it a bit by not showing the John Cussack family saving drama.

The movie is very Indianised with a lot of things taken from Bollywood - It means the HERO will survive just about anything. He will not die - PERIOD. He will drive and not get hit, he will fly planes and not go down. Anything ! Even the family poodle is saved !

Watch it for the sheer money spent, the AWESOME effects and the gigantic proportion in which things are shown.

Oh yeah and they blow up a few Porsches, Lambos, and Bentleys when landing a plane full of cars near Mt Everest.

Money well spent.

Rating - 4/5

Its a documentary kind of film, cant even call it a documentary. Its a collection of the behind the stage, rehearsals and past live performances by Micheal. Its a tribune to the king of Pop and just a sign of homage and respect. You have all the foot tapping numbers like Billy Jean, Beat It, Thriller, etc. You tend to get into the song, the music and the spirit. Was worth the watch.

well, i have different views. Concept is well driven down but the movie only relies on graphics for its saleability. its not a directors movie. its the graphics' guy's movie. I beg to differ on the rating too. I'd give it 2.5/5.
Just my views.

+1 to that. really liked the CGI. nothing tacky. looks grand and mind blowing.

even after 6 hours, the scenes are still haunting me. a couple of those are really spell binding and does make us hold our breath. and i believe if they succeed in that, its worth it.

must watch in theater. how i wish it would have come in 3d. would have been even more mind blowing. honestly though, i miss INOX. The theaters/ movie halls are crap. no sound effects, no bass. much better in India compared to here. feels i am watching a movie with computer 2-pair speakers.
i would give 4/5... 3.5 for CGI... 0.5 for acting.

A bit late review of 2012. Saw it on Sat night. As others have mentioned, mindblowing special effects. The cities being destroyed just like that.

You got to see it on the big screen to enjoy the scenes. But otherwise movie is too long, no storyline and the climax drags a lot.

Rating: 3/5 ( all for the CG only)

This is one stinking piece of morbid animation if I ever saw one. Utter waste of time. The premise is that a human-machine war has killed off everything, save some weird looking voodoo-type dolls made of sack which have pieces of the machine-creator-scientist's soul in them. The doll '9' awakens the machine again, and then they kill it and set the souls of the dolls that have died (they are bright green in color, the souls I mean) free. These souls act as cloud seeding and cause rain, which is a precursor to return of life to earth I guess. Really lame story, weird macabre animation, and all nonsense. Avoid like the plague, no kids nor adults can enjoy this. 0.5/5 (the 0.5 is for '8', the only character I liked and which had the shortest part among the dolls)
