Watched ' The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3'

AS per IMDB -
This version of The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 splits the Walther Matthau character of Walter Garber into two persons (Denzel Washington as MTA Dispatcher Walter Garber, and John Tutorro as NYPD Hostage Negotiator Detective Camonetti), both of whose ordinary day is thrown into chaos by an audacious crime: the hijacking of a subway train that is in Garbers charge. John Turtorro plays the chief Hostage Negotiator who finds he is a fish out of water without Garber.
John Travolta co-stars as Ryder, the criminal mastermind who, as leader of a highly-armed gang of four, including a subway-knowledgeable henchman, (played by Luis Guzman), threatens to execute the train's passengers unless a large ransom is paid within one hour. As the tension mounts beneath his feet, Garber employs his vast knowledge of the subway system in a battle to outwit Ryder and save the hostages.

Its an average movie.
john and denzel tried hard but seriously movie didn't had real pace.
Am glad didn't watched in a hall.

One my client used The shawshank Redemption for explaining management principles in a 3 hrs seminar. Needless say that it was wonderful. I missed to take a video of that session.

shawshank redemption is the best movie so far I have ever seen. I recommend everyone to see at least once, and I am sure you would want to see that many times. I didn't classify it as a Thriller, But it has everything in it.

Just finished watching "The Wrestler". Good movie, a must watch.

The OST by Bruce Springsteen is nice too.

I think Duel is Spielberg's first feature film (circa 1971).

Watched " Inglorious Basterds" yesterday. As everyone already reviewed, it's a fantastic movie and proves again that our maveric director is superb in his choice of movie making.

I loved the character of Nazi security officer and his character is the pivotal role in the entire movie. I think he won cannes award for his performance.

Brad Pitt was ok and in some scenes he looked a bit disinterested or clueless.

Half the movie is in French and German with subtitles ON.

I loved the scene when our smooth Nazi security officer switches to Italian to ferret out Brad Pitt who poses as an Italian but cannot speak a word to save his life.

Cinematography was superb. However, the entire movie is quite dark which is not to my liking.

I was bit disappointed to note there was not much of general chit chat on a topic which is irrelvant to the movie which is Quentin Tarantino style.

Remember the tipping subject in Reservoir Dogs and Pigs are filthy animals in Pulp Fiction? Masterpiece Dialouges.

4/5 ( I still think Pulp Fiction was much superior than this movie)

Watched " Malena" over the weekend. Very nice locales, touching and quite sensual story. The only reason for you to see this movie is Monica Bellucci, she is utterly butterly delicious

However, this movie cannot be watched with family members as language is quite dirty and lots of innenduos and some topless shots of Monica (quite welcome for us though

)

Watched Elegy, starring Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz.

The movie depicts a relationship between an aging professor and one of his young students. The professor, in course of the relationship, goes through a lot of mental agony due to his own consciousness about his advancing age. They separate and finally unite again under tragic circumstances.

Ben Kingsley is good and Cruz is ravishing as always.

Watched " Venom" a horror thriller directed by the Director of I know what you did last summer.

Good Looking youngsters, Voodoo stuff, scary location of swamp country of Louisiana made up for a decent horror/thriller stuff.

Watched "Taken" starring Liam Neeson a few days back----it is a great action movie. I'd rate it as 4 / 5.
I have it on my laptop, and thought of seeing a few minutes of it as it was already 11 pm---but could not stop till the end.

I beg to disagree on one count. Atleast I feel John Travolta didnt even try, I have never seen such a lackadaisical performance from him. Went to the movies drawn by the promise of Denzel Washington and J Travolta. Came back disappointed.

I meant he was trying but script was not giving him the scope. The same with Denzel. imo they both are fine actors and the script didn't do any justice to their potential.
However our rating is same
