Watched Inception yesterday night at Fame Lido and had the experience of my life. There are scenes where I had to remind myself to breathe, such was the movie. Wifey loved the movie as well and we've been discussing about that ever since. Missed out about 15 mins at the start due to mismanagement of parking at the theater, gonna catch up again.

On top of my list.

Last evening in a theatre, watched " The A-Team" starring Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper

Its an action oriented movie with an age old script of army fellas proven wrong and hell bent on proving it right.

Action is over the top ( Sanjay Gupta Style) and you can see lot of choppers flying around, machine guns blowing away people and infrastructure et. all. But, like i said its all quite unbeilevable.

The black fella in their team with muscles like a freight train provides some good laughs

Liam Neeson wasted in that role ( when i compare him in "Taken"). Doesnt look convincingly tough even if he chews on a cigar

Bradley Cooper doesnt look like an Army Ranger from any angle including his long hairstyle. He's just a pretty boy with no acting skills.

Jessica Beil is tall and quite hot. But, thats about it !

Overall, a decent time pass flick with some fast paced action which doesnt allow your senses to react.

2.5/5

Watched both, Dispecable Me and Inception.
Despicable Me is funny (not thaaaaat funny) and the 3D effects are nice.
Inception is superb, the ending where I no one knows if they are in the real world or not is kind of neat.

Inception rocked! Was speechless after the movie ended, while the others in the theater were clapping, groaning, heaving sighs! Awesome awesome movie. Hats off to Christopher Nolan.

Inception

So finally i managed to catch up with the Inception hysteria that has been gripping people worldwide. I was so excited that i avoided reading reviews for atleast 4 days.

So how was the ride. I would say a near perfect roller coaster ride. I liked everything about the film. But one thing that took the cake was the Direction. Yes Nolan as a writer is super amazing but the visuals of directing the inception is what truly turned this film into the most extravagant, thought provoking film of this year.

Initially i was confused about the end but a bit more of thought sailed me through. Its truly a gem. Action is spot on, performance by leads is mind blowing, Leo is true con man.

A must watch. I should say block buster of the year. 5/5

Knight and Day : Hollywood meeting Bollywood

Happened to catch "Knight and Day" yesterday due to wifey's insistence.

First Observation : Both Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz looked old. As is really OLD and not exactly suited to the character.

Second Observation : Action sequences seemed a little too unreal. Seems the Director / Action Director had taken inspiration from Rajnikant movies.

Third Observation: The movie also seemed to be a mix of Mission Impossible & James Bond

Oh and the story : Typical Hollywood storyline with Bollywood masala wherein the spy is undercover double agent trying to secure and keep in good custody a AA battery which is supposed to an eternal source of power. Boy meets girl and chasing around the world.

Rating : 2.5/5

P.S: I understood the "Knight" part of the movie name but still clueless about the "DAY" part

Saw Inception and loved it! The concept of the movie is simply superb... Made me ask this question to myself, is this real-life or am I dreaming... I need a totem...
Didn't quiet like the pace of the movie though... One has too many questions at the beginning of the movie which are answered very late in the movie and the movie does slow down at some points. This lets your mind wander off during the movie trying to figure out the answers...
The movie leaves you hanging in the end, which was expected...!!!!
The direction is the soul of inception...
Some moments in the movie are simply breath-taking... There were many times when I was clinging to the edge of my seat...
Overall, it's an interesting concept/awesome direction/never ending movie and a must watch... (4.5/5)

I think this was made by him when he was a film student. One could see his talent even in this very early phase. Also, for people who haven't seen it, you should check out "Following" , which was Nolan's first full length movie. He didn't really have any budget for the movie and used his friends as actors in the movie. The movie is still very watchable and he used this movie to get some money for his next movie, which is the masterpiece called "Memento", and the rest, as they say, is history .

Inception:
Made by Christopher Nolan, the Batman rebooted guy, memento etc...his movies always leave me in a small fix, can't manage change of pace...the last climax out of paces...my impression solely, don't blast me. All his movies, too much freedom to the music director to create noise, in Inception, gets deafening with the blaring brass section of music in the climactic fight scenes (screenplay a little slow), the dreams miss the surreal quality to some extent (hear the girl ask who's dream/brain we're going into anyway kindofathing and everyone relates..), the story is great, any sci-fi buff could die for...totems spinning? Hmmm, space for a sequel methinks, perhaps on the original inception in the mind of the 'horror queen' in the movie? But, a must watch.

Edit: No match to Matrix 1 and 2. The 3rd one was not up to the measure of the series itself...and remember, those are a decade (and less) old movies now.

I am not too sure why would anyone compare it with Matrix trilogy. Both are quite different as far as story and technique is concerned. The only thing common is, both require deep thinking and understanding of what the director wants to convey.

Just my opinion.

Watched Inception last saturday. Though the script is brilliant and the visuals crisp, the narration was a bit of a letdown for me. It dragged too much and the long fight sequences(especially the one in the snow) with the projections were senseless, boring and hampered the flow of the story.

The acting was pretty good, especially Joseph Gordon-Levitt (last saw him in 3rd rock from the sun) and the actress who played Mal. Ken Watanabe/ Saito (who is an excellent actor) appeared to be wasted here. The guy playing Eames has a bit of an annoying presence and I didn't enjoy his performance at all.

Overall it's a deadly script which could have been narrated a bit differently. The score was excellent and gives you a feeling of impending excitement. Though it's a good film, it could have been much better in my opinion.

It's been touted as "James Bond meets the Matrix". Though it may compare with the best Bond flicks this is nowhere close to the revolutionary and iconic Matrix. For me Nolan's best work till date is still the Dark Knight.

I haven't seen Inception yet, but I found both Memento & Prestige by Nolan to be far better than Dark Knight.

My ranking of Nolan films I have seen

1 - Memento
2 - Prestige
3 - Dark Knight
4 - Batman Begins
5 - Following
6 - Insomnia
I liked all of the above movies.

As for James Bond movies, I don't think they would compare anywhere to Nolan or the Matrix movies. Golden Eye & Quantum of Solace were utter bores. Die another day was like a good Hindi movie, but nothing great. I have seen a lot of others but don't remember them well enough to comment. Also, I saw Casino Royale in Hindi, so don't want to comment on it.
