re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Kungfu Panda 2 over the weekend. The movie was hilarious. The story was nothing great but there were some great scenes and Jack Black has great comic timing even if he is only doing the voice overs. I thought it was as good or better when compared to the first part.

Now a little about the Theatre where I watched this movie. I booked online for the 10 AM show at the DT City Centre theatre ( this was my first time in a DT theatre ). The counter was not open till 10 mins before the show and there was no automated machine for the online tickets either. When the counter finally opened, only one was working and there was a problem with one of the printers. Luckily, we were among the first ones in the queue and got our tickets. When we went inside, the 3D glasses were not cleaned and sealed like they do at PVR or INOX. The 3D was horrible and the movie seemed out of focus for most of the time. I was not sure if this was due to the glasses or the projection system.
So advice to the folks planning to watch a 3D movie in Gurgaon at DT cinemas. Avoid at all costs. The 3D completely spoiled the experience for me and I would have preferred to watch it in 2D instead. I have watched a lot of movies in 3D in INOX in Bangalore and have never faced any of these problems.

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

I saw the following movies over the weekend.

Kung Fu Panda 2

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-6766610kung-fu-panda-2poster.jpg

The Awesomeness is back with the Furious Five, Master Shifu & ofcourse our Beloved Panda. This time they have a new Enemy, who is not only a thread to King Fu & China but also knows Po's past which he wasnt aware so far.

The movie is fun to watch, as with all sequels (except for T2) you wish for more but nevertheless its a lot of fun.

4.5/5

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-pirates-caribbean-stranger-tides-wallaper2.jpg

This is the fourth installment of the POTC series, the series is good in a way that it has no creepy creatures but then it lacks the typical Pirate battles that we expect from this franchise. There are almost no hurdles in the journey to the fountain of youth.

As always the only person who makes this movie worth watching is Captain Jack Sparrow.

I saw it in 3D & frankly this movie does not need a 3D version, 3D seems to have become a fad these days.

3/5

Hangover II

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-thehangover2.jpg

The Wolfpack is back & this time they are in Thailand. Its difficult to post review without revealing the suspense. All I can say that the plot is same, the story line is similar yet its loads of fun. Its lacks the surprise element which the first part had as you kind of expect what will follow, yet there are moments which will leave you in splits.

Some scenes are really not family watch worthy, I wonder how the edited version will look like in India.

Btw it has become the Biggest grosser over the long weekend

The Other Guys

If you have to torture anyone then I recommend this movie. I can not mention it in sane words as to what a big Disappointment this movie is considering its star cast. Besides I wonder what were the actors thinking when they signed up for this movie.

If there was anyone who thought that Hollywood doesn't make bad movies especially with a good star cast then please watch this one.

Unknown 2011-
Nice movie featuring Liam as the lead. Its fast and keep you in suspense almost till the end. there are some loopholes and ending could have been better IMO.

Hangover 2-
Not as good as the first. You can almost predict everything. Had a few humour moments but in all quiet average!
I hope they dont make a third with the same old story!

Rating 2.5/5

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Just returned after watching X Men - First Class. This is kind of a prequel to the trilogy, and somehow reminded me of 'Tom and Jerry kids' by seeing all the young X-men. All in all - quite an entertaining watch for a Friday evening, though acting is nothing extraordinary.
3.5/5 from me.

Bridesmaids: Nice chic flick. Do watch it if you can with your gal or wife or whomever. Its good and great acting by the lead actress.
Rating 3/5

Hangover 2: A brilliant first round doesnt always mean a good or decent second round. Seems like the director had just one story to tell and that is evident in this movie. So to make it interesting he has thrown in a smoking monkey. tequilla drinkin monk, transvesite and a lot of stuff which kids or even adults cant watch!!

Anyways movie is not worth watching., trust me your not missing something. If you go to watch it in a theatre your basically making the director think its well recieved. Can be missed or catch it online.

Saw X-Men First Class

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-downloadxmenfirstclassmovie2.jpg

It has all the bells & whistles that you expect from this franchise, great special effects & some great mutants with amazing/weird looks & powers.

This part helps you understand the relation between Professor X & Magneto. It also helps in understanding how & why they are what they are. Overall a great just that I found some scenes not as crisp as I would have wanted them to be, the last scene in fight was kind of dull.

There are some nice humorous scenes which you would enjoy if you know the characters.

It was fun to see people clapping & hooting when the most famous X-Man makes a guest appearance

3.5/5

Saw the movie - Buried. I loved it absolutely and Ryan Phillipe has acted brilliantly. Getting caged in a coffin is real hardcore stuff. 4/5

Anybody saw the 'Source Code' recently?
