Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

I saw Begin Again last night. Nice cast, Mark Ruffalo just owns the role. Wish we could see more of this talented actor. Keira Knightley is like sunshine on grey day. The direction is smooth and easy, New York has been presented in manner not regularly seen. The scene where Ruffalo creates music is amazing, sets the tone for one to understand how a music producer thinks and sees things.

An enjoyable 2 hours with some great songs and great visuals of New York.

Just done watching expendables 3

Story And screenplay by Silvester Stallone, and he chose to give himself a lot of screen time! Arnold has little role to play and he looks old as well. The story is about building a new team of young expendables and how barney burns his ties with the seniors in the process. The movie is full of action and a gunfire. The climax is more line Indian cinema :-)

Some scenes have been over done with amplified action, i liked 1 and 2 over expendables 3, but nevertheless a good watch, but was a nice test to my new harman kardon home theater :-P!!

Rating 3/5

Absolutely! One of his (Wes Anderson's) best I think and the actors are superb too. It is in theaters right now. Planning to take the family to go see it this week

To put in simple words - A good movie but conjuring was better. To get really scared (for that sudden scary scenes and sounds), I would recommend "Haunt" (2013). Nothing great about the story but couple of terrifying scenes and sounds.

I saw:

Brick mansions.

Mediocre movie, but watching Paul walker in this can cause you to in the feels a bit.
Kicks Villains, drives cars, good timepass.
And the french Yamakazi in the movie is amazing!

5/5

Divergent:
I missed the casting, and after I had seen it for about 30 minutes, I was asking myself, " Is this from a book?"
Oh, it is. Got to read it. Good post apocalyptic stuff, but I dont think anyone will be connecting to the factions shown based on the perfunctory explanation in the movie. I am sure forum pages somewhere are alight with discussions.
I liked it, though.
4/5

+100

I loved this movie. It was so refreshing to see this different treatment of a subject. The detailing and the character development is amazing.

Such films always make me wonder on how 'silly' and 'over the top' our Hindi cinema is. There is scant attention to details and you most often feel stupid after watching them.

BTW I d give this movie a full 5 out of 5.
Do not miss it.

Check out 'Premium Rush'. It's based on the bike couriers in Manhattan.

Little Manhattan
Goodfellas
Wolf of Wall Street
Inside Man

Out of these, Little Manhattan probably has the most outdoor shots. The other 3 are plot driven and are just set in around NY/NJ.

Coincidence... Saw two movies from two actors who I think are capable of great but lost their own plots along the way. And noticed a new actor who I am sure will go places.

Mud with Matthew McConaughey, and,
Joe with Nicholas Cage.

I would rate them both as solid examples of a director's craft. 4/5. Not your run of the mill Hollywood entertainers, nor movies that leave you thinking.

Excellent acting from all around. Especially from Tye Sheridan, of whom I have the same feeling now like I did when I saw Leonardo di Caprio in "What's eating Gilbert Grape". I didn't realize this youngster was acting in both movies...

22 Jump Street - 9/10

Bromance Alert!

Pretty much the exact same movie as 21 Jump Street. And that's a good thing because the slapstick humor is copied over in the exact same fashion. If you liked the original, then you'll love this.
