Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Luka Chuppi -2/5

Extremely vague storyline in the beginning, couldn't understand how one scene led to another. Post-interval it felt like the movie was dragging on for no reason. I cannot understand how various websites have rated the movie so high.

However, I absolutely LOVED Pankaj Tripathi's acting. That man is a rare gem, and his scenes were extremely funny.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

KGF: Chapter 1
Language: Hindi
Genre: Thriller, action
Rating:4.5/5

It has a strong plot and decent action scenes and dialogues (though of course some of them are over the top, courtesy the Sandalwood industry). Yash has done a good job of acting. Great attention-to-detail. Overall a must watch. It is being compared to the Bahubali series, and rightly so.

A word of caution: Please try not to watch it in Hindi. Preferably watch in it Kannada itself. The dubbing of the movie is pretty poor. Spoils what is otherwise a great movie.

OT, but I wonder why are there no other threads for Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi movies. Can we arrange for them?

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

No, I meant a separate thread for each language. But then I guess the individual volumes would be too low.
Much like FCA India who has bought in Mopar rather than introduce exclusive Jeep dealerships an addition to existing Fiat dealerships, both of which would then suffer from terribly low individual volumes!

We are essentially an automobile forum, 3 movie threads (Hindi, English, Regional) are more than enough just as 2 threads for photography (auto and non-auto). And director specific movie thread (as suggested by you in other thread) is out of question.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Watched Badla today.

The remake of "The invisible guest" has an excellent story line. Stellar performances from Tapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan. I am not a fan of Hindi murder thrillers, where we see quite a few loose ends, unnecessary song and dance sequences with splash of blood and gore, but this film is an exception, like Andhadhun.

Saw the newly released 'Mard ko dard nahi hota'.
What a fresh new way of presenting a feature film. Crisp acting, un complicated plot, exceptional action sequences and very tight presentation. The lead has a persona similar to those 70s/80s western action starts and the film direction is reminiscence to the style similar to that of Frank Miller and Robert Rodriquez.
Give this one a go, it should not be disappointed.

Trivia- The lead actor is the son of yester year's actress Bhagyashree Patwardhan who rose to fame after Maine Pyar Kiya.

I don't think I will be able to watch the new movie Kalani, at least not in theatres. Looks like a typical multi-starrer emotional drama.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Gully Boy is already on Prime Video! Pleasantly surprised at the speed. If you don't have any plans tonight, my strong recommendation is to call for a pizza, sink into your couch and watch the movie.

Rating a full 5 / 5 stars. I enjoyed every minute of it! Liked Ranveer in Dil Dhadakne Do, loved him in Padmaavat & he is equally good in Gully Boy. Amazing screen presence & acting. Alia is damn cute too.

Duh!

I so wish this master stroke event is remade by Farhan Akhtar or Kathryn Bigelow!
Precisely the reason I chose to avoid the movie. I didn't have the heart to go and watch a bunch of filmmakers commercialising one of the greatest, hair-raising operations by our armed forces!

We don't need Bollywood to tell us how to thank and honour our Armed Forces! Happy that there are other like minded BHPians!

Request
Guys in Bollywood, please don't make a movie on Abhinandan Varthaman and the cross border strike. He is already a hero, we don't want you guys to spoil it..!!

Saw it couple of days back on Prime Video. Absolutely smashing performance by Ranveer Singh.. dare say right now he is the best talent in his age group going around.
Alia was refreshing, others were good too. But, the thing I loved most were the lyrics of all the rap songs.. kudos to the lyricist. A Must watch movie.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Watched Kalank over the weekend. Beautiful sets, a few good songs and decent acting. Apart from this, there's nothing else which was good in the movie. There's hardly any story and there are several loop holes but the movie went on for close to 3 hrs. Several characters but most of them are irrelevant. I would recommend not watching it even when it is aired on the TV. I loved 3 of its songs and one can find them on YouTube.

Kalank - 1/5

You are correct. The story is not that great and has been stretched into a long movie. It could have been screen played in 2 hours. The multi starcast with good acting was a treat to watch and that's probably the only positive point of the movie. The movie can be seen once for its starcast only.

It worth watching if one is into history and loves conspiracy theories. Mithun and Naseeruddin shah acting is good and shows how politicians work.
