I believe almost 95% of the movie, if not 100%, is shot in Bhopal
So they have basically used the city of Bhopal as a shooting location. I was under the false impression that there is some reference to Bhopal in the movie.

I am not a great fan of Prakash Jha, but I may watch Rajneeti just because he would have given good business to our native city during the shooting of this movie.

Raavan:
Just saw this movie.
stunning locales. Athirapally Waterfalls, KL.
brilliant camera work/photography-santosh Sivan
Awesome direction. -maniratnam.
Storyline- now this bit takes a small beating. it leaves you a lil confused. bad guy turns good guy , good guy turns bad guy. way too much. its loosely based on the epic ramayana. you can see the traces as the story unravels.
acting: come on, its maniratnam. he gets the best out of everybody and nothing is short here too. Although Abhishek has done a better portrayal of this kinda negative role in the past ,Yuva. Vikram is good and so is aishwarya in her non glam look. Govinda does some monkeying around but overall he is wasted.

Just retuned watching Raavan now

Manirathnam - Could have ended it better

Aishwarya Rai Bachhan - Good portrayal, not spectacular.

Vikram - Never looked in place

Priya Mani - Noteworthy mini performance

Govinda - Good monkeying around and provided lighter comic moments that was required

Abhishek Bachhan - Its his movie all the way..... Amazing performance

Locations - Out of the world, amazingly beautiful

A R Rahaman - No Magic

Watchable

Rating = 8/10 and +1 for Abhishek

I watched Rajneeti and frankly i was disappointed. Politicians were shown larger than life and the story left me yawning! Was a drag!!!

Katrina looked amazing though

Watched 'Raavan' last night.

Without wasting too much of breath, i can say i was completely disappointed with the movie as it turned out to be confused as to what the director wanted to show.

Quick feedback on main characters according to me :

Abhishek looked completely insane in those various colored multani mitthi and i dont think those crazy gestures and incoherent speech can be termed as acting. Even a toad cannot fall in love with him the way he was and Ash falls for him. Come on, Mani give us a break. Only movie where he acted was in Yuva.

Ash looked beautiful with those close up shots but, why did she have to scream out every dialogue even if whom she is speaking to his right in front of her?????????? i began stuffing cotton into my ears as soon as she came on screen.

Vikram with his southern accent looked out of place and he could have been handled better.

Priyamani sizzled in those backless chuni shots, yummy!

There was no story, no direction but just photography in this movie. For a brief moment, i thought they are running a slide show of "non-auto image thread of tbhp" on screen

Jokes apart, this movie is only about cinematography which is breathtaking to say the least. Looks like Mani too got lost in all that NGC type of environs and photography and forgot about direction.

Overall, crappy movie

1/5 ( 1 is only for that mind blowing cinematography)

Watched Kites yesterday on Colour channel. My God what were Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan thinking when they decided to do this film. No story at all, acting too wooden for Barbara Mori and in some scenes Hrithik too. What was Kangana Ranaut doing in such a film, reduced to a side doll.
Just making an intenational std film does not mean it would appeal to the Indian audiences too. Putting in such absurd amounts of money in making such drab films does not do justice to the film industry which is already reeling in huge losses. Indian audiences want a change in the film making/story telling not some exotic locations, huge sets etc.
See Rajneeti, made in India for India and by India and it clicked.

Watched "Jism" starring John Abraham and Bipasha Basu.

I never got around to seeing this movie. It was a nice movie and plot looked similar to James Hadley Chase novel ( I think Pooja Bhatt is quite influenced by JHC as most her movies are similarly made)

John debuted in this movie and was noticeably wooden and Bipasha was ok but her voice seemed dubbed. She exposed quite a bit in this movie.

This movie become a big hit but, i found it just about decent and quite slow at times.

3.5/5

Avi, the movie was indeed slow, but for the time period in which the movie hit our screens, the difference in portrayal, as well as the twists and turns made for a one-time watch. Good music to go along only added to the equation.

That's crazy Avi. Loved this the most. I am running through the non-auto image thread now and am half way through with the thread. Raavan indeeped semms to be a movie made from Tourism point of view, in order to imporve the tourism to these pristine locations

I was completely frustrated after watching Raavan. I should have stuck to browsing non-auto image thread here on the forum
