Can we port a policy to a different provider if the age of insured is above 65?
Thinking of porting over to a different provider from Oriental. The policy has 4 insured, 2 under 35s and 2 over 65s (66 & 67).
Hello All,
Any suggestion on good health insurance for parents who are senior citizens? Currently they are covered by my company but if I have to start something on my own, all those company benefits will not be available. So want to ensure that I have good insurance cover for my parents aged 72 and 66.
I hear that pre-existing medical conditions will not be covered for year or two, so want to start the policy as soon as possible.

From available options, the maximum age that they can cater to is 65 for the oldest policy holder. Not all companies offer policies for Sr. Citizens anyhow. So it is unlikely that you can get something on your own for your parents.
However, check for continuation policy in case of your employer. Some companies offer this option to continue the policy for parents after you leave them. You will have to pay the premium but at present that seems to be the only option for you.
We are senior citizens and have HDFC ERGO health policy. Recently i suffered from a brain hemorrhage and got very good service from the insurance provider and the agent concerned.
We travel overseas at least once a year and for 30-45 days. We would like a decent travel policy that would cover our medical requirements when we are abroad. Problem is that PEDs would not be covered and hence my stroke related illness may not be covered- which is the main worry.
HDFC ERGO does not offer travel insurance and even if they were to do so , existing PEDS would not be covered. so what is the way out?
- Buy a global policy and if they allow PEDs after a wait time (2 yrs?) at least one would be covered after two years.
- Is there any provider which cover PEDs? it must be frightfully expensive, i am sure- but just as an option?
- Any other option?
Would be very grateful if someone can advise me. Thank you.

It is not possible to port those over 65. Just like getting a new policy.
A query for the experts.
I am 31, my wife is 34, and we are looking at getting our first health insurance policy. Late, I know, but we were in the UK previously where we were covered by the NHS, but better late than never I guess.
I am swinging towards Max Bupa, they seem to have good reviews and have cashless tie ups with the biggest, best hospitals near to where we live.
I have no idea how much cover we should go for, but am thinking of 50L. Is that too much (we have no underlying health conditions and are healthy)? There is a 6k difference in premium between 20L and 50L. Our preferred hospitals are Columbia Asia and Ruby Hall (in Pune), and I think that even for some basic treatment it would go into Lakhs, probably much more for serious things like cancer etc.
These are the premium prices I am getting for their top end Reassure plan, all inclusive for a combined policy for both my wife and I:
30 Lakhs coverage: 16,896INR
50 Lakhs coverage: 22,435INR
I am really in unknown waters here so any advice at all would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Any recommendations for health insurance for senior citizens? My parents are covered currently with one of their office schemes in place post retirement but now their floater premium is beyond 50k a year. I’m looking to potentially drop that in favor of something else.
The dreaded time of the year has come when the Health insurer sends the premium renewal notice and you almost faint when you see a hike of 35% in the premium. The Insurer here is Niva Bupa (earlier Max Bupa). There was a claim in 2021 for the admission to hospital for the heart issue. Does that warranty a 35% premium hike? Should I be looking for alternatives? if so what the best available as an alternative for a 51yr old guy with family of 2.

Just pay the hiked amount, I too did the same last month, for HDFC ERGO, I also had a 100% claim in 2021 for my Pacemaker operation.
My health insurance (5 lacs) + top up (15 lacs) which are currently with HDFC Ergo is up for renewal. The premium is still not too high (17K + 4.5K). I am currently 44. Does it make sense for me to port to newage insurance's like digit ? I have not claimed with HDFC which i have been using for last 2 years.
I get an e-mail from Max Bupa on 20th December about me requesting a cancelation. I don't think I ever requested anything like that. I tweeted to Niva Bupa about this (fully aware that Max Bupa is Niva Bupa now) and yesterday on 13th January, I got a refund for Rs. 20,005.
I am attaching screenshots of my twitter chat with them. My policy is currently active as per my app. What gives?

A late response, hope it helps. Similar age profile with identical sum insured. But with family floater (2 adults+1 kid) with ICICI lombard, I paid a premium of 19K.
Can anyone help me here? I have eInsurance account wherein I guess we can put all our life insurance, motor insurance and such policies. I recently got new term insurance and it automatically was added to eInsurance account.
Now I am trying to add my health insurance policies (Navi Bupa base + health recharge) but after adding the policies, there is no acknowledgement or anything and under "Policy Conversion Status" too no mention of them. I am not sure how to add the 2 policies to my eInsurance Account.

TO UPDATE THE MEMBERS:
Bought a Patriot Platinum America Insurance for both of us. Valid for 2 months-the duration of our trip. USD 397 for my wife and USD 445 for me (above 65 yrs) Deductible USD 2500 Max limit USD 2000000 for my wife and USD 1000000 for me.
Hi Team,
I am quite new to the world of Mediclaim since in my past companies it was covered so we never got one until last year.
All of us had got Star Health cover for ourselves ( Mom - 63, Dad - 70 and Me - 36)
Mom Got diagnosed with Ovarian cancer around 2 months after we got the policy (hers was the lowest amount one since she was the fittest and we planned to increase it at a later year).
Star made us run pillar to post with stupid documentation requirements and what not for 6 months while her treatment was going on and ultimately rejected our claims.
We want to shift to a new Mediclaim policy, can someone who is well known to go about doing this? It expires on 29th of May.
I had a call with HDFC Life and they are saying they can take out a Mediclaim for my mom and me, but if anything related to cancer cannot be claimed within the first 3 years of the policy. The amount is 62 thousand for both of us for 10 lakhs cover.
Sounds a little strange as they said after you pay the premium we will decide if a telephonic talk, a video call or an actual medical test needs to be done.
Can someone please suggest the best policy we could go with please.
