India govt should take action to hand over this movie to the armed forces and somehow telecast it to terrorists who plan to attack our country. 100% guarantee, the terrorists would blow and kill themselves after seeing this movie. And we would never ever have to worry about any attack . Thats how fabulous this movie is.

Vijay, director nelson and team should receive a special award for making such movies that has potential of saving the world.

Alas,we viewers will be in despair.

I made that mistake of downloading this movie to watch during the flight time. If ever I was in insane mind, I would have jumped off the flight mid air after watching 15 mins of the movie. Luckily I switched it off. Phew. What a national waste of time and resource by presenting such movies. I guess Vijay is going the Kabali way now.

Hats off to the director who accepted this movie.

Re: The Regional movies thread!

Watched 2 movies on OTT

Saani Kaayidham (Tamil) on Prime
2/5
The movie looks heavily inspired from Kill Bill. Too much rawa scenes, no strong plot and just another revenge movie. Keerthy Suresh looked terribly out of place in the cast.

However, gives a feel good factor when someone is able to take revenge for the kind of crime committed.
Worth a second time - Definitely not

Puzhu (Malayalam) - SonyLiv
2.5/5
Mammootty has tried something new after a long time. Works well and a neat movie. Worth a second time - Not at all.

Beast:

Despite all reviews, I went ahead and saw this movie. Just when I thought that the movie could not get any worser and I could take whatever the makers throw at me, in comes the fighter jet scene.

No words to describe. Most of the movie is so bad that it is actually good.

Puzhu-Malayalam-SonyLiv- Mammootty

Started watching with high expectations after seeing all the great reviews. Personally did not really get the hype in the reviews. Of course Mammootty is very good. Beyond that found it very slow with an cliched climax and abrupt ending. Parvathy does not have much to do. Expected some good scenes between her and Mammootty but there is pretty much nothing of note.

One time watch for Mammootty doing a character with negative shades which he does really well.

So I went ahead and watched it yesterday. Told my family this is a spoof action movie and to watch it without looking for sense. We also skipped through ~30 mins of the movie. Overall it was fun!

Beast - Kids movie. My kid liked it very much, laughed a lot and enjoyed the action. I tried watching but slept in 30 mins. Got up and watched the last song but he wanted to watch the movie again.

My cousin kid has watched 6 times now

I think it may be simple logic less comedy movie spoiled by someone :(

Re: The Regional movies thread!

Mishan Impossible on Netflix

A Telugu movie with English subtitles about 3 best friends from a village in Andhra who aren't good at studies or anything else for that matter.

One is a Ram Gopal Verma fanboy who is a movie freak / geek.
One is a KBC enthusiast who supremely & confidently gives wrong answers but believes he is always right.
And lastly is a cricket fan who believes he is the greatest bowler in world cricket.
These three underachievers want to earn easy money & are convinced by the movie fanboy to travel to Bombay / Mumbai to kidnap Dawood Ibrahim for the ₹50 lakh prize money.

Sadly they don't end up anywhere near Mumbai but stumble into a child trafficking ring & what happens next is what the movie is about.
Tapsee Pannu has a small role in all this.
Do watch if you actually have nothing else to do.

As always it could have been much much better in a tighter hand. It is directed by the gentleman who wrote & directed Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya & that is the reason I was eager to watch it. The dialogues, comic timing & chemistry between the 3 kids was the stand out feature for me.

Re: The Regional movies thread!

Vijay started off acting in near X-rated under his father's direction. For us 80s Tamil kids, it was a surprise he even took up movies like Poove Unakkaga or Kadhalukku Mariyadhai. Since then he has settled down to mindless larger than life masala movies, which you can mostly avoid.

Nelson never made take me serious movies. Kolamavu Kokila and Doctor were essentially quirky fun movies in serious situations. They were either love it or hate it type.

With that exception in place, Beast wasn't the typical Vijay movie. Yes, you have to throw caution to the wind and watch it like a children's movie. It was good fun for 2.5 hours, way better than absolute tortures like 2.0 or Annathae.

It is amusing to see daddy SA.Chandrasekar complain about Beast

Watched Forensic. Loved the procedural than the out-of-the-blue twist.

BTW that red Polo that Tovino drives, is a standard 1.5 TDI with just the GT grill slapped against it?

Well, it's just the regular 1.2 MPI with a GT grill on it.

P.S The first-gen Polo came with the 1.2 TDI as standard and the 1.6 TDI in the GT trim

As mentioned by the others, i was really looking forward to this one, thanks to Mammooty in a serious role. For what it described as a thriller, it is extremely slow. You'd expect the pace to pick up at some point, and then its wham-bham and done.

Some interesting topics touched upon in the movie and i appreciate Mammooty for venturing into such a role. As mentioned by Rajeevraj, not much for Parvathy in this movie. Good performance by the kid who plays the son. For the auto enthusiasts, love the RS that Mammooty was driving around.

A decent one time watch, strictly.

When I saw the trailer many months back, I knew something was odd about this. And yes, it was.
I have the same opinion as other BHPians. Although it was under 2 hours, felt it was dragging a bit. Mammootty dominates the screen here and he played it really well. Sort of reminded me of his under rated movie that released few years back (not pointing out the name as it can spoil the climax).

The RS was lovely but was it the real deal? Didn't it come with contrasting ORVMs and dual exhausts? This one had a single exhaust.

Inspired from a true incident of someone who had a really bad day. Navya Nair and Vinayakan were pretty good. Storyline is something what we have seen.

Very similar to "Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam".

Re: The Regional movies thread!

Puzhu - disappointed

I have been careful in selecting movies these days as I can't afford to waste two hours of my life.

Puzhu is not a thriller by any stretch of imagination. Maybe the trailer set that tone, but I haven't watched the trailer.

Its a social commentary and my major gripe is that the movie does not attempt to be subtle about it. I may also call it a propaganda movie if I am to view it from the other side of the divide. I think it commits the same mistake other such movies like The Great Indian Kitchen and Kashmir Files made. Such one-dimensional story telling does not win over anybody from the other side but only succeeds in alienating them. It seeks to drive a wedge onto a schism which is on the way of healing.

It is no Birth of a Nation, but you get the drift.

Bangalore Days (2014) : 4 / 5

What a delightful movie with a simple but excellent storyline. I guess I'm quite late with this review of a 2014 hit, but still I'm assuming there are others who might not have seen this gem of a movie.

Simple setup of 3 cousins moving to Bangalore on their own life journeys; each one of them facing a different life problem and how they help each other resolve it and move ahead. One of the few movies of Fahadh Faasil where he doesn't outshine the others with his acting capabilities.

I'm wondering if it's worth watching the Tamil remake of this movie - I don't want to mess up the nice after-feel of this movie.

Don't watch unless you want to know how the movie was messed up in Tamil version.

The premise was similar to "Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam" but I felt that's where the similarity ended; this felt like a much inferior product. Siju Wilson especially was very annoying
