Had to watch this movie, because it was shot at my relatives place. I don't keep expectations high especially on fight/revenge movies, but after watching slow paced Kishkindha Kaandam and Bougainvillea, this was surprisingly grippy for me, especially the first half. Cool cars are shown and a great climax.

The newbie Villains have etched their skills in fine acting.
If you like revenge movies, this ones worth the watch.

I watched in UAE, and felt certain bits were trimmed.

Watched a movie called Pookkaalam yesterday. If you liked Vijayaraghavan's performance in Kishkinda Kandam you will be absolutely amazed by his performance in this movie. He plays the lead who is a 100 year old man. The movie is largely a light hearted comedy but becomes a little more serious towards the end.

Apart from Vijayaraghavan all the cast dole out impressive performances. Notable is the female lead played by KPAC Leela. There is an ensembe cast and many of them do not have more than 10-15mins, but they all have all done justice to their roles. Heck, I had never thought that Abu Salim can act.

I watched this one only because there weren't any more Malayalam movies in Hulu left for me to watch, but I am glad I did.

Lucky Baskhar (Telugu)

This is one thriller I enjoyed watching, set against the Dalal Street scam in 1992 courtsey the big bull backdrop, the acting by the lead pair of Dulqueer Salman and Meenakshi Chaudhary was superb. The story is engaging, the climax was good and unexpected. The story closely emulates what was told in the webseries The Scam but at a personal and emotional level of a common man. One time watch for sure.

Kishkinda Kandam Hotstar

Finally caught up with this gem and thanks to fellow member Rajeevraj for his recommendation way back in September. I had to wait for its OTT release and the wait was truly worth it. What a brilliant storyline along with superb acting by the cast. One can see some basic similarity with some past movies but that’s about it. The movie keeps you on the edge throughout. Little slow to start with but as it picks up pace, it never stops until the riveting climax, which is actually the most moving part of the movie.

Malayalam industry has been superlative in churning out brilliant movies and this is another one to the list. Highly recommended watch.

2 kannada movies attempted to watch on a lazy Sunday

Yadha Yadha hi

Streaming: Sun Nxt

A good thriller movie, could have been even better with more of the suspense part. The story quite nicely builds up and the climax was unpredictable, however this is not an edge on the seat experience. The movie is a remake of a telugu hit. Diganth Machale shines in his quirky role. Real life pair of Vashista Simha and HariPriya are average. Avinash Bhatt provides the much needed support to the plot. One time viewing recommended.

PS: The big goof up is the plot is happening in Munnar kerala and everybody in Munnar are speaking fluent kannada.

Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi

It beats me as to why would some one make such a movie which doesn't have any meaningful story, acting is mediocore, unneccessary laughs thrown in randomly. Ganesh does not live up to the expectation in the acting space and neither does the newcome Malvika. Sadhu Kokila is reduced to doing some buffoonery comedy. Totally avoidable. the song which was viral is the only saving grace for the film and once that finished in the movie, I switched off

Thekku Vadakku - Malayalam



It had it's moments in the first half but the second half was a drag. Suraj and Vinayakan acted well. Could have easily added a lot more humor but failed.

Rating - 2/5 (Manorama Max). Can skip it but 1st half is watchable.

Secret - Malayalam



Heard about the project and was excited since it was from SN Swamy. Never realized this was released.
Started off well with good story buildup, BGM and visuals but then all of a sudden it just crashed. Everything failed in the second half - poor acting, climax etc.
No where near some of his classics. I would rate Nerariyan CBI as his last best work after which everything was bad.

Rating - 2/5 (Manorama Max). Can skip it.

Bloody Beggar - Tamil



Well, this was a surprise. We loved this one. Sort of "whodunit" style mixed with Priyadarshan style commotion from his old movies. Good acting by all especially by the lead guy.

Rating - 4/5 (Amazon Prime). Recommended.

Her - Malayalam



Woman themed anthology movie that's interconnected. Nothing new or exciting in this one. Watchable but I felt the drag.

Rating - 2/5 (Manorama Max). Can skip it.

Brother - Tamil



I would summarize this as a diluted version of "Santosh Subramaniam". Jayam Ravi was decent but others were pretty bad especially the heroine, IAS and IFS guy. Too many cringe moments as well.

Rating - 1.5/5 (Zee5). Can skip it.

Lucky Bhaskar - Telugu



This was a good one. Keeps you engaged with good climax. Good acting by all especially Dulquer. Good choice of cars in the movie - Obviously, who is lead actor .

Rating - 4/5 (Netflix). Recommended.

The movie had such bad reviews that I was really tempted to watch this movie as soon as it released on OTT Don't understand what the director was thinking. The movie is completely outdated and this movie had spoiled the name for "Indian 1". I hope "Indian 3" never sees the day light.

The basic concept was good but I felt that somewhere the movie just dragged and dragged and SJ Surya's acting is now becoming a repeat and it's surprising the villain quickly works out the Hero's vow which I found quite strange. I would say skip this movie.

I absolutely loved this movie.
Very decent acting with just the right amount of "over-acting".
Quirky story with interesting plot twists. Not all of which are easy to guess beforehand.

I am also very glad about this kind of cinema and the fact that OTT brings it into our lives.

A one-man show, but 2.5 hours is a bit too much! With Telugu movies, it's all about over-the-top stuff, so if that's your cup of tea, you would not be disappointed. Otherwise, its not worth your time.

Pushpa 2

I am an Allu Arjun fan. I mean, not a diehard or something but I admire his work in films. Coming to this film, I spent 2500 for a ticket(premier show bought in black). The first half of the film felt boring to me. High scenes aside, the story just doesn't go forward. I felt really bored and was a little upset after the interval.

This is where things change. The 2nd half is pure madness. I would say another national award is loading. No other actor can perform such acts, irrespective of how illogical they were. I really liked the 2nd half of the film.

Songs and BGM's felt a little out of place.

Overall a decent watch. But IMO, Pushpa 1> Pushpa 2. The first film is a cult if you ask me.
