I'm tempted to...and a certain 5 year old is not very happy with the decision to sell. Lets see - I'll sell only if I get a damn good price.

If it is registered in Dubai that probably makes it a left hand drive and its common knowledge that left hand drive cars are not allowed to be imported. So please inform which hand drive it is.

The car is LHD, will be converted to RHD before bringing it over. The Smart is a very user-friendly car as very few things are errr... hardcoded. For eg., you can change all the body panels and change the entire look of the car in about an hour.

Other than the Tiridion (or something like that) super-frame around the car, the body panels that provide protection from the elements (not those that provide protection from crashes) are made in space age FRP and engineering plastics.

While changing the steering from LHD to RHD the only big change will be the steering linkages. Dashboard, steering and controls can be changed in a jiffy as these are designed to be swapped somewhat like the Nokia xpress on covers (in concept, not in execution) so that you can change the interiors with your moods (as long as you're not too moody).

The car is a rear wheel drive so there arent any complications up front, either - the big change will be shift of the battery compartment (under front passenger's feet) from right to left - 2 body panels will need to be changed or swapped for this.

Best of luck with your conversion, but at the end of the day its not the best car to get to India from a sale point of view.

Thank you - the conversion will be done by the local Smart Centre and not me. I will get it to India, but the primary reason is not to sell it. I plan to sell it only if I get a good premium. Else I'll keep the car for a few years, then maybe someday rip the engine and put it on a bike....all options are open.

If an engine is all you want, I'll look out for one. The second hand car parts market here has all sorts of engines including those of the Mercs, Beemers and Mustangs amongst others at dirt cheap prices. These are usually picked up from cars that have either been scrapped after accidents or have been rebuilt - the selection is quite exotic...

Let me know what your requirement is and I will try and find one for you when Ihave the time. If you insist on a Smart engine, I'll ask the Smart Centre whether they have a spare one since I've seen plenty of old smarts scrapped there.

Basically any engine will do, as the kart itself is gonna be pretty light. Preferably a RWD type engine... not too powerful, cause I'm gonna source M800 wheels or something like that, so... basically, the cheapest thing that youu can get. don't bother to go actively looking for it, but if you do come across a really cheap engine, do let me know... thanks a million mate!!!
