re: Which watch do you own?

I'm going on a business trip to Hong Kong in a few weeks. Havent been back to HongKong for more than thirty years so I'm adding a few days to look around and see what has changed.

I might be looking for a new watch. Are there any particular shops that carry a good selection of luxury watches.

re: Which watch do you own?

Its always been a CASIO or TIMEX full digital, no frills, backlit waterproof watch. First one in 89, 165 rupees, 2 buttons, made in Japan. Changed 4 times since. Latest one CASIO 4 buttons, backlit, silver metallic. Don't see a successor....theres a retro lineup from CASIO though, costs fancy!

You have to be extremely careful, as Hong Kong is a mecca for counterfeits. Time was when the luxury watch prices in India were one of the lowest. I got my Rolex at 25% discount, and upto 30% was a possibility.

I suggest that you go around luxury watch showrooms and haggle a lot to get an idea of the current prices, and then compare them to the street prices in Hong Kong.

Edit : Visit Kapoor as well as Johnson, in South Ex and CP. Between them they carry most of the brands.

re: Which watch do you own?

I am unable to let go of anything I buy unless it totally fails me nostalgia & loyalty.

Like I own a Fiat Uno for 14 yrs now...
Use the same Samsonite hard luggage for travel since 15 yrs..
I own a Sector Chrono that I bought in Denmark for Rs 10000 equivalent then for 15 yrs...

Tempted to buy a Skagen or Rado; but dont get to it.

Forget the Jaeger, go for the Panerai. Infinitely classier in my opinion. Simplicity of design, great quality, super functionality and real elegance!
