re: Which watch do you own?

I dont know if this has been asked before but has anyone tried www.creationwatches.com, the prices are pretty good especially for the Seikos and the reviews also seem genuine. Moreover, they ship as a gift and often we need not pay the customs duty.
Only thing holding me back is the age old saying "If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is"

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question, but if you do buy a watch from this site, please do update this thread about your experience, specially w.r.t the customs duty part.

Cheers,
Vikram

re: Which watch do you own?

Got myself a Tissot Couturier chronograph last week.
Was looking for a retro design with a brown leather strap. Loved the Visodate, but at nearly twice my stipend as a house surgeon, it overshot my budget.

Guess I'll save up a little and perhaps go for a Stowa soon.

It is T2M428 & MRP is Rs. 6800/-. I bought it from Snapdeal at Rs 4650/4362 using coupons.

Check out on Watchkart.com. You have a weekend 20% off coupon - MAGICWKEND which gets you the watch at Rs 43xx/-. Hurry up since only 1 piece was left. Else, you have them on snapdeal but at a much higher price.

Not normal. About 30-36 hours of power reserve is what you should get for a full wind.

Cheers,

Jay

re: Which watch do you own?

Hi all - need some inputs regarding a vintage watch

We have my grandfather's Rolex, it is a 1950s Oyster Perpetual, and in a poor condition cosmetically and mechanically as no one has taken care if it for 20 yrs now

There is a big scratch on the glass face. When wound, it loses half hour every day. I gave it to a watch repair shop and they suggested I replace the entire movement.

What would the watch experts on the forum suggest about repairing/restoring the watch? How much would a proper restoration cost and is there somebody qualified in Bangalore who can do it? Or should I just get the watch repaired by a small shop?

Any help/pointers will be appreciated. Right now we have no clue what to do with it. At the same time we don't want to sell it!

Thanks!

For routine service the Rolex Delhi charges 31K (It is about 500-600EU in Europe). They change a few mandatory parts and change all the gaskets. I suggest that you contact the Official Rolex Repair Center, which is in Mumbai.

1. Never give it to a normal repair shop as they do not have either tools or access to the spares.
2. The Glass of older rolex was perspex. It is a bit rounded and scratches easily. Going by Rolex prices I would not be surprised if they charge upwards of 10k for it.
3. I would suggest that you go to Mumbai personally and get an estimate for repairs. I doubt if you would get away for less than 50k. These watches will sell for upwards of 5L (10L if gold case), so be careful.
