Wow...is the customs duty so high that it amounts to almost 100% of the watch price itself? Anyways, nice choice. Prospex line is a really solid set of watches from Seiko. My Samurai is also from the prospex line of watches.

Do post a few pics if possible.

It's your luck of the draw but I guess one Google search of this product shows up a price of 29k so must've been easy for the Customs guy to find out. Think I've posted pic earlier in this thread

Is night visibility a criterion ? If so, the Seiko with its lumibrite is a better option.

Also, the dial size. I find the 42 mm to be optimum, but quite a few of the Seikos are larger. So, do confirm this while making a decision.

You can check the customs duty on cybex.in. The duties post rationalisation and GST is around 40 %.

I should have guessed! Looking at your location I half wished it was from India. Anyways, there is always someone or the other coming from the US

Trust me, this is THE best way to get the latest watches into India. My last 4 watches, none of which are directly available in India (and even if available, are priced atrociously high) were brought to me by friends flying down from the US. My purchase timings are thus co-ordinated with their travel plans. Watches in the USA are way cheaper than India, not to mention that a lot of the models which I have in my collection are not even available in Indian stores (cases in point, the Seiko Samurai, the SARB033, the Seiko Alpinist, all of which I got from the US).

The savings on each watch is really substantial, because duties are completely cut out. The only caveat is that you should identify a trusted dealer who ensures that the piece sent to you is in perfect working condition, because to send it back is a logistical nightmare.

re: Which watch do you own?

Hey everyone,

Just happened to find this thread, Team-BHP is really a wonder where topics from all walks of life exist harmoniously.

Coming to watches, i love them to bits and are a very integral part of my life.

I own the following -

1)Casio Edifice chronograph - my first proper watch, is heavy, accuracy sucks and is not built well as well.

2)Orient Bambino version 2 - this is a gorgeous watch, anyone would fall in love with the pre war styling and the crysta dome of this peice. It's a fantastic dress watch and is one which I will cherish for the rest of my life.

3)Moto 360 gen 1- was an impulse buy and has served me well. The fantastic soft leather strap has worn out and unable to find a replacement, so not using much these days.

4)Tag Heuer Carera - got it for such a steal that Untill today I am not completely convinced about the authenticity of the product. Is in all other ways a fantastic watch and one which I very rarely indulge in.

Nice selection of watches. I have the Bambino version 2 Gen 2 as well, cream dial, blue hands and roman numeral indices. Check back Post # 2948 for pics of my Bambino in this thread which I had posted a few months back. Gorgeous watch for the money. Its my everyday work wear with formals.

As for the authenticity of the Tag, a very easy way is to go to a reputed watch maker and have it checked out. Ethos should be able to help you with this, they have their in house watch mechanics who can check and let you know.

Love the Bambino in the colour that you have, planning to get the one you have shortly, I have the white dial rose gold hands one which looks stunning and of late my father has taken quite a liking to it and tries to sneak it away from me.

I had visited zimson to get a strap changed and enquired with the in house specialist there. He told that it's either a original or a first copy but the moment was defiantly original. Frankly after that I am used to or like having the question of its authenticity in the back of my mind and dint have it checked anywhere else.

Between saw your posts and you seem to have an amazing collection of watches. Like you I have also been using the USA route to get watches as I have found a above 50% difference in prices when compared to India. Have ordered a seiko automatic from amazon global store which is yet to arrive after 12 days. Let's see how it goes.

Indeed, the difference is 50% and sometimes even more. Some of the watch prices quoted on Amazon India are atrocious when compared to the actual prices, with the sellers out to make almost twice the price of the original watch as their profit margin. I was initially hesitant to get watches from far off locations with out physical inspection of the pieces, but have since then become accustomed to the idea. Online shopping of watches is well and truly here!

Two more awesome pieces are on the way from the US as I type this, and hope to update the thread soon with my initial impressions. Gosh, this is an expensive hobby, for sure!!

Do post pics of your incoming Seiko when you get hold of it.

re: Which watch do you own?

Another vfm watch added - Timex Weekender Fairfield - Price is ~ $60 and mostly available on amazon for $40-50. Saw this women's version available for $26 last week and grabbed it immediately. Dial size is 37-38 mm so it can be worn by men as well.

Nylon slip thru band it comes with is strictly for women due to color. Got a leather band for $12. Band can be easily changed, and this watch is going to be shared with my wife.

For $38 ($26 watch + $12 leather band) it looks really really good.

A Casio retro added to the collection. This is my first Casio, and planning to get the band changed later.

The venerable F91W, another Casio classic. Nice watch, I have the Casio G shock in a similar aesthetic the DW5600. Nice retro watch, but really hard wearing and light on the wrist as well.
