Why do you need such alerts ? Aren't you married ?

GTO, do we have some screenshots of when this forum began? I mean, the first set of members, first thread, look and feel etc ?

Quite a long way, as we can see. Nice set of pics, GTO.
Am curious to know how we take it from here - long term.

Great to see the history of T-BHP, GTO! Thanks for sharing.

Has there ever been talk of a pan-India T-BHP convention or something? Once in two years, say? Meet and greet, talks, slideshows, food... and driving?

Great Pix. Thanks for sharing.

Another Question: Is there a way of knowing whether a ban on a fellow bhpian is temporary or permanent? If its the former, the date when it is getting revoked.

Guys, why don't you rename 4x4 Excursions or Split it into 4x4 Recce & 4x4 Events.

The Excursions does not look Matured word in the 4x4 Division.

Duplicate post / delete this post

Hi,

We have an 'edit' function for a fixed period. Can there be a 'delete' button too for the same period?

I do see some posts where the posts were edited to read 'please delete - wrong post'!

I think the inability to delete makes one rather careful about what one puts out there! Just like in real life, you can't take back something once you've said it.

There have been talks & threads (search for em, i think pan-india was the term used for one). However, these kind of meets require a lot of planning and organization.

There was a sucessful "National meet" in goa a few years back.

Unfortunately the software classifies both permanent and temporary bans as "BANNED" - and there is no other indication for viewers. The banned member gets a screen displaying the ban period & reason.

Hmmm... i think the line between Recces and Events is quite fine. Nonetheless we will discuss this.

Great suggestion! Lets see if this is possible within the software.

Indeed, but trrk is talking about the ability to delete within 20mins of posting (which is the same amount of time you can edit your post for, after posting).

What a lot of members do is edit out the contents of their post entirely - and request the mods to delete the post. Eg. when the post gets submitted twice by mistake.

@Mods, the new Tuner Showoff section rules say that the threads will not come up in "New Posts", but they do come up. Just a heads up, but I would really like it to remain like it is now.

In the same section, most people would be interested in the price that the mods would have cost. Why do we have the rule to not mention prices?

Lastly, could we please get tuners to post in the style that Karthik has done. It makes reading the thread a real eye opener.

Correctly said! But I would be careful of what I write even if there is a delete option. But since I can edit for 20 minutes, I thought a delete within that 20 minutes would be nice to have. It will avoid duplicate posts and reduce the burden on the moderators to delete such posts As I find sometimes that the answer has already been given after I submit the post, the only thing left to do is clear everything and request for deletion, which can be avoided.

I am happy that I could suggest something potentially useful! I hope the software allows that!

Hmm.. I was wondering if it's possible to have alerts (or just plain old subscription) in classifieds section. My friend's been looking for a used gypsy (with MPFI engine), since quite some time now. I've been checking the classifieds sections almost on daily basis to see if some gypsy has been put up for sale. It would be great if I could just set an alert, which would send me a mail, if a certain keyword or model name has been put up for sale.

Thanks,

We are adopting a "wait & watch" policy on that at the moment.

Tuners are free to mention the cost of the project.

How about allowing a limited number of name changes. I selected my username based on my gmail id and was quite suprised I could not change it. Changing your user name every few days should not be permitted but may be 2 or changes in a lifetime. What happens if you had selected a user name like Skoda_Lover and then read the thread here and started hating Skoda? Surely you wouldn't like to use that user name.
