Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Saw this behavior yesterday and again today, not sure if anyone else has faced this..
Browsing on an android device with chrome browser, the forum landing page /forum does not show the rows under the Buckle Up section, instead shows just the header row with "Buckle Up" for that section in the forum.
Known issue ?

Try clicking the + button on the right for the buckle up row, may be you might have accidentally collapsed it touching there previously. If I'm not wrong, the page remembers the previous selection.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I am not sure whether this is the right thread that I am posting to, so I request you all to be a little considerate if I make any mistake.

Being a newbie myself there are two things that I wanted to ask :-

1. When I make a post and it goes for approval to a moderator, I am unable to edit it as it is invisible and when it becomes visible obviously the period of 30 minutes has elapsed making it impossible for me to edit it. So is there any procedure that I may be missing through which the post can be edited?

2. In how much time normally does a thread submitted by a newbie is approved and whether there is a procedure to notify the person posting the thread in case the thread is rejected and the reasons for such rejection?

It may be that the person is unknowingly overlooking the rules of the forum that are already specified or can there be any other reason?

It is just that if the reasons are notified to the person then maybe he will be careful enough to not repeat the same mistake.

Thanks in advance

Luv

Unfortunately not. However, you can use the PREVIEW POST button to perfect your post before submitting.

It depends on the time of day, but I'd guess the average time it takes during the day is 30 minutes.

You had created a thread on a topic that's been discussed several times. Your post has been moved here : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post3572964

Unfortunately not, since newbies can't receive PMs. In some cases where the thread needs some work, the thread is moved to the assembly line and the reason is given.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I would like to suggest that the criteria for upgrading status of a BHPian should be based on the quality of post and not necessarily the quantity. Since the time a "Thanks" button has been added in posts, fellow members can "Thank" each other and in a way rate the usefulness of that post. An example for criteria for upgrading from BHPian status to Senior BHPian can be:

1) 1000 posts with minimum 500 Thanks
2) 1000 Thanks with minimum 500 posts

This can be applied for future and not retrospectively. I myself am interested in a larger mailbox, hence the post.

Isn't this rule + condition being followed since long?

That's how things are going on where any unnecessary (read one liner and spamming and no value) posts ate deleted by MODS and sufficient warnings are given to the member.

So generally unnecessary posts are less and Thanks is a very useful feature to know what the member standards are!

Getting to 1000 posts is very difficult.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Would be possible to add some better features to the the search? Team-bhp is a great site for information but a lot of it gets lost if you can't find it.

I have often found myself in situations asking a question which most probably have been asked before but just not able to find in using search.

And the decision to add a comment to a existing thread (which might be a tiny bit related) to starting a new thread is not always as straight forward. Also I have noticed new threads gets better response than comment on existing one (this might just be me though)

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I'm not sure about team-bhp, but the search engines that come with BB software, including the better, non-free, versions, is often not that brilliant. It's worth asking a specialist, and where searching is concerned, Google is certainly a specialist.

Try a google search with site:www.team-bhp.com as part of your search string.

On the other hand, if you are looking for, say, posts by a particular member, then the T-BHP built-in search might be more effective.

Hi Jessie007,

Given that we monitor the quality of posts so closely, its very very hard for a member to grow their post count by the hundreds with poor quality posts.

Regarding your counting system, that would be an excellent way to do it, but unfortunately the software doesn't support it. (The 'Thanks' functionality in itself is an after-market add-on).

If you're using the BHP Black or BHP Silver skins, you should see another search-box in the top right. This is an inbuilt Google Custom search - and is a great solution for 'fuzzy' searches: read more

Like Thad says, the inbuilt vBulletin search is good for when you know exactly what you're looking for (specific words, or members posts, etc).

I guess there is no option to un-thank, other than to leave it as charity

A quick Query/Comment:

Even after you log into the forum, certain pages have a pop up ad appearing. Can this be avoided.

e.g. The "Hot Threads" page
