How about displaying each member's name. Almost each one of us has a display name which does not include our real name.

It is not that our discussions need discretion; so how there be a field for "Name" under the member display name.

Referring to someone by their display names (not including their real names) seems kinda impersonal!

A lot of people do not like the idea of sharing their real identities online. Plus, if someone finds forum ids impersonal, they can always keep their real name as the id.
As a fact, most members refer to each other by their forum ids even during meets.

It's a personal choice to display names or not. If anyone wants to, they can put in their name in their signature.

Hi carboy,

I do see a "subscribed threads" listing present even on the mobile skin.

1) You must be logged in
2) Click "User CP"
3) Click "Subscribed threads"

It will show you the list of threads you're subscribed to.

Hi Mansi,

We are going to continue with just one thread for the moment.
Tip - When browsing that thread, read the LHS column (location)

This is a feature that vbulletin offers by default, but we do not currently have it enabled. I guess you could google for more info if you're still interested.

I'd agree with Tejas on this one. A large number of members prefer to remain anonymous.

I was wondering if Team-BHP will support Tapatalk for android phones ? It would have made following threads very easy. Just a suggestion..

The reasons we've not been too big on Tapatalk:

- We already have a slick, purposeful mobile skin!

- From day one of Team-BHP going live, we have NEVER required our members to pay a single rupee to access our knowledgebase, or to reply / create threads. If a BHPian wants to post using Tapatalk, he will have to pay the $3 fee (all Nokia, Android, iPhone users). Why should we install a software that our members have to pay a fee to use?

- For obvious reason, I cannot stress on this factor too much, but as our software is currently configured, Tapatalk is incompatible. This can be fixed, but is it worth the effort?

I'm still not convinced on the value proposition of Tapatalk for Team-BHP.

I have felt the need not sure if anyone else have seen this.

I guess there should be a section were the local residents discuss thier local matter etc. Othewise currently everyone will get to see things of all the cities together.

For e.g. I would prefer a section where we discuss all the topics about Chennai. It would give a city based view of the TBHP.. what say?
I only meant the city related topic only not automotive discussion.

BBCode alignments are now not permitted for signatures. Any specific reason?

Please help me with my query on SKINS

Is there a possibility that we can have the skins mapped to the profiles.

I love the Standar - RED skin a lot, and but the BHP Silver turns out to be the default skin, every time I log out and log in I have to go and manually change my skin.

I am not saying this is a big headache, but I am saying it would enhance the user experience if the skins are saved as part of profile

The 3$ fee is the cost of the app, right? But then you can browse most of the forums that you are following very conveniently ..

If only it was that simple!
Unfortunately, vBulletin is a fairly complex ecosystem of code, and we try to avoid making any changes unless absolutely necessary.
For now, reporting post is the best way to get this done. The mods will gladly change your title for you.

There are definitely some advantages to options like tapatalk, add to that a major convenience factor too. (If im not mistaken, there are apps which are free, and only charge if you want to have the ability to post).

Ideally, we'd want a mobile solution that was usable on any platform, without the need of an intermediary software. Example: see how gmail's touch-phone site does it.

Maybe we can re-evaluate apps like tapatalk/forum-runner once again in the near future. Mobile access is increasing at a rapid pace!

A post remove facility to be added with the edit function. This would help remove accidental double posting during net failure/interruption etc.
Probably worth considering.
