As a result, many new interesting topics/ownership threads go unnoticed.

@agambhandari - I don't think the threads go unnoticed because of the reason you mentioned. The forum software picks up most recently posted threads first. If you observe all the threads which were created on Assembly line and moved out later, the moderators add a post when moving it out, saying 'thread moved from Assembly line to <xyz> section. Thanks for sharing', etc. As far as I know, the main reason why they add that 'moved' post is to Bump up the thread and bring it to the most recent ones in the list.

You are right with the 'New Posts' link, but I guess the OP was suggesting about the 'New Topics' link. 'New Topics' have more visibility among the members as there are only a few of them created in a day as opposed to 'New Posts' that run into pages within hours.

Oops, sorry, my bad in that case . I mistook it to refer to the within-section listing of threads.

Are you guys still facing this issue?

We looked into this quite a while back, but unfortunately a new image upload system for our existing forum version is not in any way a minor upgrade; so we'll have to stick with what we have for now. Similarly for assembly line threads.

Yes! We'll try to integrate this as a further development to the Photo Gallery.

Interesting suggestion! We'll consider it the next time we change around the forum sub-sections.

Thanks,
R

Guys,

We can't seem to replicate this.

Could you please tell us what browser version / OS you are using?

Thanks,
R

EDIT: Tejas pointed out that this is in the Garage - we were looking in the Photo Gallery! Will look into having this fixed soon.

I am using Google chrome on Ubuntu Linux OS. Same as I have used for the last 2-3 years.

And yes, it is in the Garage.

Happening with IE9 and Chrome on Win7 as well as with IE10 on Win8. Unlikely to be OS/browser depedent.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Mods, there are many threads in the Test Drive and Initial Ownership Reports sections having cars that have crossed 40-50,000 kilometers but still in that section.

Why dont you all implement a rule say after 30,000kms or 2 years of owning the car,the thread gets transferred to the Long Term Ownership Reviews section?

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Can we have a dedicated section for auto detailing/cleaning etc?

It is a very vast topic which involves lot of brands, products etc etc.

Right now, there is one thread which is running into 100's of pages and it is difficult to look for relevant information.

Nice suggestion. Infact, we have moved many threads already that were at 30K kms or more provided there is a mention of it in the title of the thread.

We will need your support as we cannot review the contents of each thread and move them.

Please report such threads and we will move it to Long Term Ownership threads.

On top of this suggestion, can we have test drive and ownership reports (short and long term both) categorized by each car? Makes it much easier to browse.

Wont that make life easier for everyone?

If we do that you can imagine the number of sub-sections under each category ( Hatch/Sedan/SUV etc) and the alarming rate at which new cars are being released I can tell you it only create messy home-page

In short, it's not a good idea..

Simple Solution: Our search feature is truly marvelous, its easy to filter threads of specific cars using this feature.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I love the search feature. But how can we search for the most important posts in a thread. There should be made some way. Like sorting posts based on the number of 'Thanks'. Maybe I have suggested it earlier, but guys, please give it a hard thought, I implore. I was scanning through the 'running-in' thread up to 8 pages for important posts!
